I made the mistake a few years back of buying some Rockports from Amazon - the Rockport Waterproof Boot was its name IIRC.
There was just one problem - everytime it rained my feet got soaking wet. Terrible, terrible, terrible shoes. Will never buy Rockport ever again.

I bet they were fakes, there were plenty about when these were 'in'. Genuine rockports wouldn't ever let a drop of water in.
I remember being turned away from nightclubs with these such was their bad reputation.

Nothing wrong with sports direct, decent brands at a low price. Most of you buy cheap Chinese sweat shop items who get treated worse.

If your Rockports had Gore tex inside then you were trend setters (like me). If your Rockports had hydroshield then that's when others caught on and the brand took a nose dive.

The original ones were gore tex, never let a drop of water in.

Mentally when I hear Rockport, I hear it in a very strong Grangetown accent.

I bought a pair of Rockport boots in 1995 for £145 from Scotts in Chester, these were the foot wear to be seen in back then! You could even take them back to Rockport retailers to have them re-soled, conditioned and new laces for £30.
Then the chav image came along and it went downhill from there, being sold in Sports direct really is rock bottom.

A lot of people don't like SD because they charge for delivery and also for click & collect. If these are also in store I might pick up a pair but I'm not paying them £5 for the privelidge of going to the store. It's like paying an entry fee for a club, spending a fortune in a dark place full of terrible clothes, grumpy staff, awful music and not enough room to dance. Somehow I even end up with a hangover.

I remember seeing the Chav's in the council estates wearing the tracksuits and their Rockports - oh my it was as if they were going trekking, the gym and jogging at the same time. Instead they were just rolling up whatever they put in their 'smokes'
