I'd say Mad Max was much better, much bigger world and much more variety in the skills which Mad Max offers for both your character and the car. I went into Recore with low expectations from feedback I'd read but I'd enjoyed the 30 minute taster however as many pointed out, the game goes downhill quickly and I gave up before I finished the game. Progression of your character and weapon is far too simple, the basic gameplay mechanic is the same throughout the game for combat and just doesn't work at all well for many big enemies in close combat which you're frequently forced into. The progression of your companion bot is far too messy and a big annoyance is that while you unlock skills through your companion bots to enable you to get access to areas you couldn't before similar to many other games, you can only equip certain skills with you at a time despite the fact you don't know what skills you may need. The exploration is pretty messy as the game quickly kills you if you go somewhere you're not supposed to, you get a timer but depending on how you jumped that timer can quickly expire and it's really sloppy game design in a game you're meant to explore not to visually mark out or block where you're not meant to be.
Bugs wise, I've had quite a few graphical and sound glitches on my PC and some gameplay ones as well such as objectives and markers getting stuck even though they've been done although not enough to cause any significant issues with the game.

hmmm... I was always under the impression that quidco is for microsoftstore.com. This purchase of recore is from microsoft.com as a digital download.

Why not? Clicking on Quidco "7.7% for Apps, Games & Purchases" it redirect you to Microsoft (App) Store, all you have to do is to choose "Top paid" category and ReCore is there.
