The 80s ones were a tenner or more. If you account for inflation and look at cost/100g Quality Street and Roses are both cheaper now than they were in the 80s/90s/insert mythical golden era of your choice here.

They need to get rid of these before Christmas comes. They would rather make a profit than a loss

Far better to give a tin as a present than a cheap looking tub. Will purchase if found, never spotted in tesco metro today. Heat added.
It's funny people go mad when these drop to £4.00 in December yet through most of November they were something like £3 or two for £6. Either way they were cheaper before it got near to Christmas.

Ah, right. Yes I think you're right there. I didn't see any of the smaller tins, just the 'big' ones (although nowhere near as big as 'the old days'). My local just had the plastic tubs. I remember as a kid we used to cover the tin (lid removed) with cling film then cover that with loads of strips of sellotape in all directions so it was really tight and used them as drums! My brother had a massive drumkit but we were never allowed to go anywhere near it so we just used his sticks on our 'drums'. Must have driven our parents nuts!

Do these definitely have the chocolate covered toffees in them? If so I'll have to make a trip to Tesco as the toffees were my favourites, can't believe they've got rid of them!

It's a lie. The 1.31kg tin is £7 in Tesco Hanley (Stoke on Trent) and we went all the way there especially, because of this deal.
