I've just spotted this on Grainger Games and thought I'd have a little mosey to see if Squeenix still had a promotion going for the PlayStation 4 upgrade (last I remember it ended Dec 2015). Anyhow they do, so by purchasing this you are now eligible to upgrade to the PlayStation 4 version free of charge. Happy days.

In preparation for this, players will have the option of upgrading to the PlayStation®4 version starting Monday, October 17, 2016 until Sunday, December 31, 2017.

So if I bought this, and don't have a PS3, can I somehow upgrade to the PS4 version?

I think there's a trial version of heavensward on psn that gives you 14 days sub for the game on PS4. I own the disk version thou, be warned after installation you'll have around 20gb of in-game updates (very weird way of updating the game!)
Still this is good price for a physical copy.

Nope you need to install it to PS4 and redeem the code. You will then have a station account. It will then give you the option on the website to upgrade to the PS4 version for free.

Heat added. Took me ages to try and work out how this would work.
So basically log on to my PS3 with the game go to the Mog site and then upgrade if I am right?

Does anyone still subscribe to this on a monthly basis?

Oh yea. Lots of people subscribe to this game. Its around £7.50 per month for recurring monthly sub or £8.99 for an individual month at a time. I just pay for a recurring subscription and delete my payment info once I've paid my first month and they don't charge again without your payment information. I have found a lot to do in this game. For the great majority of the time the online community is friendly / helpful. I've found that people which play this either play for one or two months at a time to catch up on the ignite content or subscribe long term. Be warned I have found the game pretty addictive. There is a 14 day free to play trial available to see if the game appeals to you. Only other thing I can think of at this early hour is to get a wireless / wired keyboard to type text messages to other players if you are on PS4.

I've played in the past but was wondering if there were any hardcore fans of the game on here. It's been a while since I played this so it's got to be done I think. Helpful online communities are few and far between these days, speaking as a COD and FIFA online player

If your thinking of just starting out I'd recommend levelling a gladiator and marauder battle class which would start you off in either the Thanalan or Limsa lominsa areas. I found Limsa Lominsa is an easier area to navigate. As you progress in the story you can go pick up the paladin class from that area's guild. The two classes gladiator / marauder are what is referred to as tank classes. For the majority of dungeon ques these classes have some of the shortest wait times to get into dungeons where you play together with other random players / a group of other players you have partied up with. You tube channels to look out for are mrhappy1227 and Mithrie. Hope this helps you and others some.

It's a subscription mmo, you will always have to pay every month to play it. However when you buy a new copy of the game they give you 14/30 days 'free' trial so you can get hooked.
Buying one of these every 14 days won't work, the 'free' time is a one time only deal.
Basically this just lets those with it on pc also get it on ps4 for super cheap. (and allows new ps4 players to join for cheap i suppose)
