I do like these, but always conscious I'm eating a turd from a tin.

They are not delicious but they are OK for the price, I always stocked up with these at a £1 at Iceland regularly. But I've gone off them now and still have a dozen tins left. Posting hot.

If you eat these you really have to take a good look at your life. Students are exempt from that judgement of course.

I somewhat agree, but maybe that means eating this would be nostalgic. A few hours later however...

I quite like the soggy 'pastry' lid on a fray bentos pie TBH, although they are pretty dreadful.

Good luck to him! They're just so nasty and suspiciously inexpensive. I genuine wouldn't be able to get a mouthful down my throat without boaking - and I pretty much eat anything.

Bought one of these nearly 7 years ago with the £15 that Fray Bentos sent me for ruining my can opener. These pies, Spam, Corned Beef (after the turny thing has snapped off ) Seriously, it has annihilated every can I've thrown at it. It's as good now as the day I bought it, can't recommend it enough.

If you're putting together a donation for your local foodbank this Christmas, these are great to include. They're obviously not gourmet and maybe aren't what a lot of us would choose when we're doing well but they're a good winter warmer and a welcome change from beans and soup

There's genuinely no conceit in that statement. I mean, I've tried them and found them to be completely rancid, with a fair amount of fat and gritty bits. I'll concede that the pastry is fine, but you can't really go wrong with that.
If you make in bulk then for not much more per portion you could make your own pie, and it'd be much nicer - and you'd know exactly what's in it. It just takes a wee bit of effort to not eat like a refugee.
