Whilst its still a beautiful worthwhile city break, I feel its becoming very tacky. I went about 10 years ago and loved our 4 night break. Then returned this year and couldnt believe how the city centre had become a free for all tourist trap full of vendours and promoters selling their tacky wears and services. The influx of Tourists from around the world since there are no borders anymore has made it a lot easier for coach tours making it a very busy place to try navigate.

So you're allowed to be a tourist there but others aren't? Gtfoh.

I found it was more the locals pandering to it being a tourist trap that lessened the experience.
Literally everywhere you move in the old town you are getting harassed to go to a bar, take a leaflet, go on a damn tour etc. And at night we couldn't move between bars for people offering us drugs or trying to get you into suspect "clubs".

Anyone know the best way to get to and from the airport? I see a transfer on kayak is more than the hotel lol

There is a bus which goes to a shopping mall and you can then get to the centre of Prague from there, otherwise it pretty much is a private hire (550kr) or shared (250kr) of course with the shared option you may have to go to everyone elses hotel first.
There's defo a local bus which I got last time I was there a couple of years ago. I'll have a Google and see what I can find.

I am a tourists but I'm not from a coach load of happy snappers who are there to run around as quickly as possible taking as many photos as possible before moving onto the next city.

You can be whatever you want to be. I dont particularly want to be surrounded by tourists who put nothing back into the place they are visiting except overcrowding . I went there 10 years ago and it had a completely different atmosphere. All thats happened now is a mass influx of hop on/off tourists spoiling how you meander and enjoy the scenery and culture.Lots of tacky street sellers jumping at the coach loads arriving. Its not the Prague it used to be.

pretty easy to get bus from airport and so easy to get around. Transport is cheap and regular. It really is a lovely place to visit.
bus number 100 or 119 is a short hop to the metro and the metro is fast. I find part of the charm of going somewhere is finding my way around. I never use transfers just grab a map and go explore

p.s if you any of you decide to go, its freezing this time of year. We went in Feb and it was -14. Just opposite the astronomical clock, on a little stall, is the best hot chocolate you will ever taste. Your welcome
