My daughters Cerise in small was delivered yesterday, colour is beautiful, LBS are building it including rim tape, cable sleeves and ensuring wheels are properly true for £50. I could have done it but I'd rather let the man who does it daily sort it properly. Missed the other offers but £650 built by a trusted LBS is a great HUKD in my view.

Ribble and Planet X bikes are both quality makes, I've got the planet x RT58 frame for my general road training bike and have no complaints. Also the customer service at Planet X is fine, they're pretty flexible and friendly.

I don't think this deal is that great. if any part is defective you may get blamed for a blunder in building it. anmd they may refuse return... have others tried before?

I bought a ready built similar bike (ribble carbon pro evo bike with latest full tiagra set ready built) for £570 in the summer. I returned the first due to some unacceptable scruffs.
obviously that deal is not available at that price at present. But if your willing to wait i'm sure some will turn up that are even better than these two in terms of brands.

Spokes only come loose due to the shocking state of the roads,even in a car fearfull of the damage to suspension and steering the roads cause.

Is this serious? My car cost less than this. Faster and doesn't cause traffic jams!

In no way should your gears need work every week. Shimano 105 is an excellent gear set that set up properly will give you no grief. We still use spokes as there hasn't been anything better developed yet. Nothing else allows such fine tuning of wheel trueness. If your spokes keep coming loose then they've been built badly. They either need tensioning properly or need a dab of threadlock.

Or. You could spend 5 mins on YouTube learning how to index gears. Spokes shouldn't come loose

Well my Shimano 105's always went off like every week, I even went to a cycle shop to get them to do it and it was instantly crap. I've constantly had issues with them and I just hate them, I think Friction gears are superior... I'm in no rush to shift.

Indexed gears and Spokes... just hate them, no idea why we're using Spokes in 2016 any ways.

​Indexing really isn't difficult once you've got the knack and watched a YouTube video to help. They also shouldn't go out of alignment very often. I've ridden over 4000 miles without adjustment for example.

Indexing gears is a really easy skill to learn and the gears are far far better.

Same because between myself and work I have one massive steep hill that kills me every morning. Also i learnt that indexed gears are probably great for people in pro racing with crews to setup their bike. However they suck for commuting as you end up having to set them up all the time. So I got an old bike and learnt friction gears are so much better, when they go out of alignment, you just have to move the shifter slightly to stop the chain from rubbing, which indexed gears cannot do.

However get rid of the gears, get rid of the chain and then the only worry is the spokes, which I'll then look into if you can get carbon fibre wheels or something so you don't have to adjust the spokes all the time.

Anyone got one of those gtech bikes? Free battery for Christmas and no gears or chain sounds like heaven for commuting.

This is a great price and bike assembly is not that hard. Only drawback is the Tiagra set. Last one I used (ST 4500) was a poor relation to 105, but I think they have gotten a lot better since.
