I have found that most run with both but totally accept this might well be the case with the newest systems. My Alienware steam machine I just bought works with both. Older Macs do too.

Yes it can. Iv'e got 16GB in the same model as you. Those quoting the official Apple Specs. Apple has done this for years. In realty most of their systems can take double the amount of RAM they quote.
do you think if i buy 2of these which would be 16gb does macbook pro mid 2012 can take it?

If it is the none retina version then yes. I have seen some people saying that Mac can be more picky about the RAM (hence why you'll see crucial etc saying Mac compatible) but i think this should be ok.

Brilliant price of £27.99 for a 8GB DDR3 SODIMM laptop RAM stick running at 1600MHz, earlier I found the 1333MHz model which is £4 cheaper at £23.99:

"16 gb will work. Plenty of other users in here have 16 gb of ram installed in their MacBook Pros. MacBook pros early 2011 and later support this much ram."
Crucial will sell you a kit of 2x8GB for it (they say "These upgrades are guaranteed compatible when you order from Crucial.com"):
