Will this work as a straight forward standard home vacuum cleaner for the house?

Thanks for all the advices and warnings... I already have a dyson which is for home cleaning but was afraid to hook it up. Auto on/off would be nice.

I'm looking for a new vacuum cleaner. This seems a good price, but I'm confused by it being sold as a 'DIY Tool'. Is this worth buying for use as a straightforward vacuum cleaner around the house?

Got this vacuum cleaner a few months back when it last was in stores. Generally it is quite good, no major problems and gets the job done well. Only fault to mention is that after a fair bit of use, the plastic pipe has a tendency to come off from the metal pipe.

I have the mentioned auto on/off vac from lidl which is very good with my table saw etc
This looks comparable but if you plan on using with any power tools I recommend the extra £5/15 for the one I have... if you can wait for it to come up

Get a decent wet vac like the above, I have a decent rug doctor carpet washer but absolutely nothing beats scrubbing with a floor brush and then vacuuming up the water using a wet vac after......

I am planning to buy one of this so that I can attach it with the sawing and tools like that which allows dust collecting. As someone new to this DIY world, I wonder should I splash out monies for it or use the dyson. Will dysons and henrys (henries?) do the job?

A henry will do the job I don't know if a dyson will I think the hoses might be the wrong shape for adapters

Personally I would not use a dyson - if the dust screws it up, you'll never hear the end of it....
Lidl occasionally do a vacuum very similar to this but with an automatic power take off function ie it only comes on when the power tool is active and switches off when you power down the tool.
Aldi do one as well https://www.aldi.co.uk/p/72115/0 but you might have to wait a few months until they come on sale again.
The older versions of this from Lidl seem to get good reviews on http://www.ukworkshop.co.uk

i used my dyson attached to an random orbital sander to sand plaster down and after a few minutes it clogged and then overheated
