Costco are selling Pandora bracelets for £49.99 + VAT. Each bracelet has 3 charms already on it. This should be national. Sunbury store had quite a lot of stock at 4pm today (21/12). Farnborough and Reading had sold out. It would be worth phoning your local Costco before making a journey if you are only going for this deal.

The bracelet looks like the one in this link, but it comes with 3 charms. https://www.thejewelhut.co.uk/pandora-silver-charm-bracelet-590702hv?gclid=CM-LmdLahdECFTAz0wodepEIrg

Apologies if this has already been posted, I did search before posting.

I agree that Pandora is overpriced but as with anything - things only worth what we're willing to pay for them.

Despite opinions this is a fantastic price compared to RRP so that to me is a hot deal, isn't that what this site is about?!

Merry Christmas!

I think they mean you get what you pay for and that's if some would rather get a fake well of course except 2nd class deal but with this deal found its got a be scorching red hot deal well done to the op classic first class I'd say.

You can't shop instore without a card. Unless you have a friend, relative or colleague who has one, then you could go with them.
However, you can shop online as a non-member but would have to pay a 5% surcharge.
Hope that helps

29 Dec 16 #104
Yes, it's an actual store, but I think because their stock changes so frequently Pandora aren't able to offer a website to order from...saying that, if there is something I want then I can e-mail the store directly and they'll contact me if that item becomes available. Sorry I can't be of any further assistance.

Thank you. That was a very clear explanation. I have some beautifully crafted hand made glass earrings I bought in US which were quite expensive and look it. I also know a glass crafter who's work is ranked as art and even a small piece doesn't come cheap. So I get why this kind of jewellery is not cheap. It depends I guess on how Pandora stuff is actually made.
Do Pandora make any statements or claims about how their glass beads are made? Or the metalwork either come to that?

The glass beads on the Pandora/troll type bracelets are more often than not made in places like india or china - often with low quality glass and usually without annealing. When you melt and shape, then cool glass in the open air glass it gets "stressed" and if you look at it through a polarising filter you can see the stress lines. Annealing means gradual cooling in a kiln.

Put simply, a bead like this are made from molten glass at a bench mounted torch. When the bead is finished it is usually allowed to cool in the air. This means the outside cools much faster than the inside and this "stresses" the molecules. The only way to get rid of the "stress" is to cool the bead in a kiln. The kiln runs at just below the heat of the molten glass so that it doesn't drip all over the kiln floor! The temp of the kiln remains at a steady for a set length of time (it depends on the size of the glass item - large items of glass can take days!) to soak in the heat until the heat is the same throughout the bead - with a Pandora bead, this is around 30-45 mins. When the beads have "soaked" the temp is gradually lowered so that the heat within the bead is gradually reduced throughout. If stress is left in a piece of glass it can suddenly shatter - especially (but not only) when extremes of temp are introduced to the piece. I know of many people who have had glass beads from abroad that have just shattered while wearing it, or even opening a jewellery box to find tiny fragments of glass all over and their bead has gone pop. Also this can happen with sheets of glass - a friend had a glass coffee table. One day the sun was shining straight through the window onto the table and it just exploded!!!!

I cant say for sure that this is the case but I suspect they are made in sweat shops by children and / or they are paid pence for their work. The silver lining within the bead can be glued in or shaped with a tool resembling a ball baring on a stick and a hammer. Obviously gluing is quicker and easier and that is usually the way these popular beads are made.

The price for these crappy beads is ridiculous - especially when you look at how much the maker is paid.

There are many glass artists in the UK making these beads, and yes they do cost around £20 each, but they are made by skilled artisans that have studied for a long time to perfect their craft. Artisann beads made in the UK can take anything from 5 mins at the torch for a basic one colour bead, to an hour for an elaborate and highly detailed art glass bead - and that's before they even start annealing and, cleaning, polishing, lining and polishing again. Artisan beads can be made to your specification - colour, pattern, size, style etc or even the cremains of a loved one or a loved family pet included in the glass. If you want to see examples search for SRA (Self Representing Artist) Lampwork Pandora Beads on google, pinterest or etsy and you will see some stunning examples - in some cases cheaper than Pandora or Troll too.

They're not the nicest of charms, but it's OK if you want something to start with. We get out charms through an outlet at a much more attractive price (usually with additional discount on top through knowing people), so bracelets cost around £5 for the leather and £20 for the standard metal, charms anywhere around £5 upwards.

The raw materials in a £200 lego set cost about £1 being the waste product of crude oil refineries. The material in an iphone would be about £2. We dont generally value things on what they are made of but suddenly that's how we are valuing pandora? If your girlfriend/daughter likes them or might like them then this is a great deal.
bellajjoy
23 Dec 16 4 #80
I can confirm being in the Jewellery trade that a full bracelet which would cost about £800 to complete, has a trade-in value of approximately £25 maximum, they are next to worthless. It is something to consider because the bubble will burst on Pandora soon. Yes I know this is a deals website but it is also kind and considerate to give people a heads up because with this information they can make a better informed decision about if they wish to purchase it or not.
Not everybody is going to be aware of the fact that it is basically worthless.
Even the so-called gold charms are just gold-plated

Great example of turning something not valuable (raw silver, google price per ounce), into something desirable... You are paying for the design, the brand, the cachet, the fun, and the simple pleasure of wearing and collecting it, or gifting it. Hope that helps

Here's a $200m painting (Number 17A by Jackson Pollock); it's made from some oil paint and fibreboard.
I don't know what makes it that valuable, perhaps it's because it's the same print they used on the emperor's new clothes? In any case the mere fact of the value of this painting makes any argument over how much something is worth irrelevant. Anything can be worth anything.

It will have great sentimental value though. I appreciate the value of the silver is nowhere near the price of the bracelet and charms, however if we took that approach to everything we buy then we would rarely purchase anything. The value of the wood...erm MDF...in the kitchen units I bought was, in total about £100, add in a bit of paint and handles/hinges and it might have hit a total of £300 (at a push). However I spent a lot more than that because it was a finished product that I wanted. As the saying goes, each to their own. Some will value this deal and some won't. For me it about the sentiment and on going opportunity to purchase birthday/christmas gifts for my grandaughter. Regardless of what it's worth at the end of it - she will have something to keep and remember me by and that's worth more than the value of the bracelet and charms could ever be worth.

I can't recommend Pandora as they just sell fantasy jewelry, they lose value immediately when you buy it. Best off buying precious metal jewelry which if you hustle can find it for similar price to Pandora. This is coming someone who went to Burma to buy an uncut ruby for the wifes ring.

If you look on the Chinese websites you will see charms which are almost the same for a fraction of the price so the profit margin on these is very large.
