Is this better than the G7?

After seeing the cheap prices on the Canon M series camera's but bring disappeared by their reviews, this is one of the cameras that popped up. The Sony A6000 is one of the others....

I bought it from Currys a couple of weeks ago, with £50 off, plus £100 cash back from Panasonic, plus 10% quidco (fingers crossed :smiley: ), so should cost roughly £370. Regarding the camera, I find it does an excellent job as my 'go anywhere' street camera. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

I love all cameras but won't mind this.

Prefer the DSLR feel of the G7 and would rather go for that personally, but nice find all the same...

Hopefully get the G7 before the cashback offer expires in January.

lot of good things in favour of buying this camera (gx80).. but for those looking to buy it: underexposure problems with the included lens IS an issue

Wouldn't the camera in your designated Camera Phone suffice for that too?, hehehe, or ..... lol.

16mm f2.8, 50mm f1.8, 55-210mm f4.5-6.3 and Sigma 30mm f/2.8

With the 16mm it's quite pocket-able. The 50mm has beautiful bokeh, the 55-210mm is pretty handy. The 30mm is really sharp and compact but no image stablisation can be a downer sometimes

​Thanks for that. I think I've decided to stick with my 550d and the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 vc. Yes, I'd like something a little lighter for when I go hiking but it's a pretty good setup for me when I throw in the 55-250 IS, or when I'm at home the Sigma 70-200 IS.
All those new lenses seem like quite a sizable investment, any idea how much your full setup cost, if you don't mind me asking?

16mm was about £90 from eBay about 5 years ago. 50mm was about £200 (but I've seen it £150 and it's usually £180 somewhere), 55-210 was about £180 and the Sigma was £65 from CEX.

So not a huge amount of money especially as it was spread out over 5 years, but my journey to mirrorless was kind of an accident. I was using an Olympus E-620 which needed to go for repair and Olympus lost it on it's way back to me and my son was due in a few weeks and I didn't have a decent camera, so caught a deal on the NEX-3, then upgraded to the NEX-5R and now on to the A6000.

From what I've heard with the A6300, using a £70 adapter bringing Canon lenses across isn't a huge issue and they're pretty much just as fast at focusing as native sony lenses.

I'm a photographer, so I don't see it as being a lot as it allows me to get shots that my DSLR wouldn't, due to people being frightened to death of them, but not little dinky mirrorless cameras like the GX80. Also, I feel safer wandering around cities at night with a £400 camera rather than a £2500 camera :smiley:
