Are you sure you put the shade right way round. It comes the other way round in the box presumably to save box space, and you unscrew the plastic nut and put the right way (i.e. Turn it round from how it came in the box)

Picked mine up today but it says I have to use Dimmable bulbs only. What's the harm in using non-dimmable ones?

Is it a safety issue or just simply that I won't get the dimmable function?

Found the following from a google search

Dimming LED lamps can save energy and changes the visual appearance and mood of your space. You can use a dimmable LED lamp in a non-dimmable circuit. You should NOT use a non-dimmable lamp in a dimmable circuit as it may cause damage to the lamp and or circuit
