In years of scouting I've seen one of these work successfully only once in the UK, on a clear summer's day, during a heatwave. Two dry sticks would be more useful. A fire steel would be a much better gift.

Ironically, even though the main image could have been chosen more wisely. You will actually find this is more a method of survival if used correctly, mix.
One should not forsee the negatives so quickly, when sat on a river bank fishing, in a woods camping or up a mountain hiking. You may just find that one of these genius £1.63 products may one day save your life. :smirk:
