Bought one of these last time it was on offer and fitted a screen protector off Ebay. Took about 9-10 days to come from China and really impressed. Has a much better charger attachment than an Up3 bracelet we own (which cost a lot more) The USB on this has a little docking slot that I personally find a lot easier to use and it doesnt keep losing charge. I downloaded the free Mi Fit which synched everything easily after setting up and records my sleep and steps. Sleep is quite basic compared to Up3 app, as it just concentrates on amount of sleep, deep and light sleep with the odd heartbeat recording. I've not found much in the way of other apps yet that can record running or gym workouts. I downloaded Mi Band Tools for £1.79, which to be honest didnt add much more in the way of functions, than the free Mi Fit app. These two apps can conflict so make sure you set one of them to give you notifications rather than both. I usually miss Whatsapp conversations if my phone is in my pocket. I now get a little Whatsapp notification and vibrate when a msg comes through. It does exactly what I need but isnt intrusive in an office environment. I have checked the heartrate monitor and find it only a couple of beats off the expensive treadmills our gym has. Battery life is amazing and lasts for days. 4-5 days of wearing and still at 80% so I reckon at present potentially 15-20 days on a single charge. Also you can download Mi Band 2 function button, which allows you to tap the button to cycle through Spotify/music playlists. Again its something small but really useful in the gym when you dont have to keep stopping and changing playlists/tracks. All in all it offers exceptional value for money, best 20 quid I've spent. Any questions give me a shout.

I got one of these last time they were cheap and it is a very good watch.

My wife has a FitBit HR and they are pretty much on a par, with the exception of the battery life, my one lasts a week without charging, the fitbit lasts about 3 days

One word of warning tho' the last time I looked the official Android app broke the HR function on the Xiaomi. It may have been fixed by now but I dont know as I use a windows phone so have had to use a 3rd party app, whch works fine.

Looks like they have fixed it in the latest release, all the reviews in the app store before 17/11 complain about the update breaking the HR function, these seem to have stopped now.

great bit of kit, the pulse monitor can be sometimes dubious but all in all worth just shy of £20. The battery also last 2-3 weeks off one charge

Using it for a week-its ok. Order some screen protoctors for it.
And if you want a open source app for use with the band - check out gadget bridge on f-droid app store - its still in development but as I see so is mi fit.

Purchased mine from GeekBuying for around £18.50 delivered (for the "International Version") - it arrived in 9 days from China.

Everything works flawlessly - including the heart monitor. Mi Band 2 is streets ahead of earlier versions, and worth every penny.

7 Dec 16 2 #37
This isn't the fitness tracker you're looking for! It's a great little device but it only measures steps, distance (based off amount of steps), calories burned (also based on steps) sleep and HR. It won't do altitude, measure speed and won't track activities such as skiing/and windsurfing. If you're after a step counter it's brilliant, but for other activities you're going to have to spend a bit more I'm afraid! Hope that helps...

cb-uk
7 Dec 16 1 #44
Yep. Essentially, the global version is a couple of quid dearer than the standard version because it uses dedicated non-Chinese servers for updates, syncing etc.

This is why global version owners weren't affected by the recent dodgy firmware updates - mine has measured heart rates correctly since I purchased it.

7 Dec 16 2 #56
No probs at all, go for it! I think it is well worth the money. The key is not to expect it to do everything some of the expensive bands can do. For me I wanted to try a fitness band without spending a lot, to see if I would use it, or whether it would gather dust. Then in the future if it becomes part of my day to day I would potentially upgrade. For steps, sleep tracking you could say it is basic but does what it needs to and seems accurate. If I twist my wrist it shows time and date instantly, followed by steps, miles walked, calories, a quick heartbeat reading followed by battery life. I really like the option of a buzz on the wrist every hour if you are inactive. For someone who sits behind a PC all day, it is getting me moving more. I'm sure there are more things it will do but I've yet to explore...
crazyshelby
7 Dec 16 1 #57
When I received mine I installed Mi Fit (free). You then create an account using email etc which is quick and painless. Once you have an account Mi Fit syncs the band up. At this point it carried out two fast firmware updates (couldnt see exactly what these changed/updated). As per my longer review, all readings are pretty accurate and heartbeat readings are very close to the gym equipment I use. All bands have slight descrepencies when it comes to steps done etc Other apps like Mi Band Tools (cost me £1.79) and Mi Band 2 Func Button are worth looking into. Hope this helps, if it is not for you stick it on Ebay as many people want them

I really liked mine. I upgraded from the 1s a while back.

Display: I like being able to check the time without taking my phone out now (I don't wear a watch), it will also tell me total steps for the day if I tap it again.

Heart Rate Monitor: I don't really use this, so not that bothered about accuracy or whatever,

Style: I've bought a third party leather effect strap and feel it looks better than most fitness trackers.

It all depends on what you want it for and how much you want to pay really. I do like the vibrating alarm in conjunction with my other alarms as well.

I've had my Mi Band 2 for a few months and absolutely love it - especially the whatsapp notifications! However I have just had a new phone and no matter what I try, I cannot get it to pair with the new phone - I've tried unpairing and switching off bluetooth on the old phone, uninstalling app and creating new account on the new phone but the error message still says that it is paired by another person! Help! Anyone know the solution to this??

Ordered mine the last time it was on offer and was delivered yesterday (after about 10 days). Like previous posters, wanted to try something out which was relatively inexpensive as I have a habit of buying stuff, using it once then let it gather dust! I must say this is a nifty little watch. Synced up first time with the free Mi app and has accurately (ish) measured my steps, heartbeat and sleep pattern. It even has a little reminder to make sure you get up and move around (as mine did this morning after sitting at my desk for 2 hours). Yes you can pay and get more but I must say for this price, I am really impressed.

Another one who got mine couple months ago on a similar price deal. Wanted a tracker for a while couldn't face the price of things like fitbit. For £20 this is pretty fantastic.

Tracks steps which you can then integrate with Google fit which usually picks up you've gone for a run and tracks it differently. I used it as a target for 10k steps a day for losing weight.

The notifications are much improved if you download that 3rd party app mentioned here already - Mi Band Tools. But vibration used alot can be annoying or run battery down fast. I use it just for texts and calls from family members, alarms etc.

Some alarm features are nifty like setting a 15 or 20 min span for your alarm it will awake you when your in a light sleep zone in that time. Alarm vibrates so doesn't wake up partner. Has been great for me.

Battery lasts ages I charge it once every 2 weeks and it usually has 25% left. Charges in about an hour too.

I'd recommend to everybody. Delivery from gearbest wasn't too bad just over a week maybe 9 days. After I ordered I panicked reading bad reviews of delivery but it was fine for me :-)

I really want to buy a Mi Band 2 but I'm just skeptical of these kinds of sites. Also I've heard about how you should buy the global version, as it's servers are EU based and also don't data collect. Data collection part could be complete fluff, just something I read online from multiple sites.
Dan7712
8 Dec 16 #78
Do you have a link to the Global Version? Or is it just a case of selecting from the HK warehouse rather than China?
cb-uk
8 Dec 16 2 #79
I got mine from GeekBuying (generally considered a far more trustworthy supplier than GearBest). The current price for the Global version is £19.50, although the price does fluctuate a little due to exchange rates and demand. The "standard" (i.e. non-global) version is usually a couple of quid cheaper if you prefer the cheapest.

As a quick follow-up, if anyone wants any Mi Band 2 accessories I found AliExpress to be about the cheapest and best if you are prepared to typically wait 2 - 3 weeks.

I purchased the following accessories:

Pack of 5 screen protectors for £0.74 delivered: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hot-Sale-5-x-Anti-Scratch-Clear-Screen-Protector-Film-Shield-For-Xiaomi-For-Mi-For/32730747784.html

High end colour wrist-band for £1.28: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/High-end-Fashion-Double-Color-Silicone-Wrist-Strap-For-Xiaomi-Mi-band-2-Smart-Band-with/32734832933.html

Gun metal & silicone wrist band for £2.51: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10mm-Silicone-Smart-Watchband-Replacement-Wristband-Band-Strap-with-Staniless-Watch-Case-For-Xiaomi-MI/32740616469.html

The screen protectors are made of plastic film, and are an absolute swine to fit without getting bubbles. The high end spare colour wrist-band is excellent quality, and as good as the Xiaomi ones (but more stylish, lol). The metal strap is also good, because you can fasten it like a watch for a better fit.

HTH

had mine a couple of months and initial impressions were great. since then ive had a couple of quite major issues:

1. the tracker started popping out of the strap. i now have it sellotaped to the strap until a new strap arrives
2. firmware update has killed the heart rate monitor and sleep tracker. now it only works if i wear it on the reverse of my wrist

overall im still happy with it but id advise ordering a spare strap in case the one that comes with it 'softens' like mine did. note this issue arose whilst i was sat in a beach in goa so it might be the heat/direct sun exposure which caused the strap to loosen up

one tip - id advise switching off the 'lift wrist' function to see the time. my battery lasted 15 days with this function switched on. i switched this function off and it lasted 30 days - remarkable!

Yup. Anything over £15.

UPS tried to deliver something the other day. Value of £15.50. 50p over the ridiculously small threshold. Wanted £8.50 in VAT (doesn't make sense, as that's well over 20%), and a £11.90 handling fee.

How about no.

To setup you need to download the Mi Fit app, setup an account THEN it will pair eventually (didn't seem to recognize when I paired directly via Bluetooth menu).
Works really well - I've used 109 calories typing this, getting the Xmas decorations from garage and grabbing a coffee lol

9 Dec 16 2 #93
Typing this??? More truthfully, you've used 80 calories "navigating around" x-Hamster - with the balance typing this and grabbing a coffee.

Protip: These Mi Bands are known to artificially increase the step count if you move you wrist around a lot (like when using a computer mouse, lol)

I ordered mine 21st November and the shipping info hadn't changed by 5th December so I contacted Gearbest. They said it was with Yodel, so I contacted Yodel. Yodel said they had only received paperwork but no package. So back to Gearbest. They told me they would have to chase it with Yodel and to allow 5 -15 business days for a response!!! Oh, and they wouldn't refund until that had happened.

So then I left a review on Trust Pilot and was offered a refund and the original package. The refund was received next day, and the package 2 days after that.

I probably wouldn't use Gearbest again, but then I did get my Mi Band free of charge eventually. Wouldn't have happened without review left on Trust Pilot though.

The actual product is pretty good and works well with my iphone.

Just to add - Ordered 2 about 3 days ago - tracking info has updated and I've got a picture of my actual package in my account order details (I can see my name etc on the package) so looks like its ready to be shipped or has just been shipped. Will report back my findings and how it arrives etc. If its reliable this site may defo order more. Just hoping Customs arn't a pain in the ass over a few £ over the limit...that would be annoying.

There are two, one

There are two apps for windows, one controls the watch the other notifications.
Bind Mi band for the watch and Notify Mi band for notifications.

they both work well but using the notifications does run down the battery much more quickly

Gearbest have now been added to my "never use again" list of companies. I ordered a watch back at the beginning of NOvember and paid for priority shipping. They took 4 weeks to process my order and dispatch the goods and now they have told me that the courier has LOST it. Trying to get them to cancel the order and refund is impossible. There are no problems at all with the Global version of Mi Band 2, which uses different update servers (located outside China).

Remember that the "non Global" (i.e. ordinary & cheaper) version of the Mi Band 2 was only originally intended for the Asian market. I suspect the cheeky Chinese guys may be deliberately borking updates for Westerners using the "non Global" version to justify creaming us for a couple of extra bucks for the Global version.

Not too sure about that "Battery life is amazing and lasts for days. 4-5 days of wearing and still at 80%".
Have it on for less than 2 days and it's already 73%. Not saying that it is bad. But not as you described.
Maybe because I get the occasional notification for whats app messages.
cb-uk
14 Dec 16 #124
That seems really low. I've just checked mine and it's showing as having 59% of battery left after 15 days since first being charged (plus I've been using the heart monitor feature quite a lot!)
Peejay1234

I get almost exactly 1 week from it without notifications, with I get about 5 days.

My missus FitBit gets 3 days from a charge, with no notifications.
crazyshelby
14 Dec 16 #126
Hi, This will purely be down to how much you are using it, or how many notifications you potentially have set up. Would you expect your phone to last exactly the same as someone elses if there are so many variables? I only have a few Whatsapp notifications a day linked and then I sync the band at night but I don’t tend to check heartbeat or fiddle with it through the day. One day I did get more Whatsapps and did fiddle and the battery of course dropped quicker. There are different options in Mi Fit like ‘Automatic heartbeat monitoring at night’ which can have a significant impact on the battery life etc. Since I gave my review 7 days ago I currently have 25% life left, so I’ll get to about 15 days minimum. I could easily get more if I turned more things off. I’m yet to charge the device since I received it and charged from new. Just doing a very quick search at my desk and two of the first links (well known review sites) recorded nearly 20 days and 30 days battery life respectively. They stated naturally the more notifications enabled, the quicker the drain. Anyone worried about this comment, have a good read of the reviews on Google. Hope this helps.

As per Chet who has commented in this forum - one tip - id advise switching off the 'lift wrist' function to see the time. my battery lasted 15 days with this function switched on. i switched this function off and it lasted 30 days - remarkable!

According to the xiaomi website the band is adjustable between 155 and 210mm just doesn't specifically state in what increments. Don't think you d have any trouble in buying a smaller strap from eBay etc though. Or you could just buy a watch strap imitation one and create your own hole with some scissors or a knife? Works for belts so can't see why it wouldn't work here.

14 Dec 16 #146
Vanessa,

Just to clarify what this does, the band has a feature to basically take your pulse and show your heart rate in beats per minute whenever you press the button. It doesn't do this continuously, although there may be a third-party app which adds continuous monitoring. Also, the heart rate readings are only very approximate as it uses light to measure pulse rates rather than a "chest strap" which more accurate heart monitors use.

If this is what you are looking for, the included strap should be fine - remember that most Chinese people are generally a lot smaller than us Westerners, lol.

You can also pick up other straps quite inexpensively. I purchased this one (for £2.51 delivered), which fastens like a conventional watch and it would definitely fit a tiny wrist: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10mm-Silicone-Smart-Watchband-Replacement-Wristband-Band-Strap-with-Staniless-Watch-Case-For-Xiaomi-MI/32740616469.html

PS Avoid the temptation to buy the "Mi Band + extra wristbands" packages for £30 ish - as this is where they will sh.@ft you.

Additional bands can be purchased for as little as a pound each delivered. For example, I got these for £1.28 each (they arrived in around 9 days, even before my Mi Band 2 did, lol) :

Hi guys - need a bit of advice:

Ordered this on 10th December and got an update 2 days later (12th Dec) with a picture of my package and it saying it has "shipped" - also got a tracking number for Yodel. Entering this I get the message that "your parcel will be with us soon" but its been on this since the 12th (3 days) so Yodel yet to receive it according to their site. I get its been 3 days but just wondering if anyone else has experiences of this? and how long it normally takes to update their website?

I chose delivery from China and british priority delivery with insurance.

B -skip a track if I am listening to music?

C - monitor my sleep?

And then monitor steps on top?

Iphone
-Vibrate and shows icon of app eg phone, text, WhatsApp etc
-Not sure about caller Id for call and text
-heart rate
-calories count
-auto sleep monitor - with heart rate for accuracy if required
-vibrate alarm on light sleep...really good

On android
As above plus
Caller id on phone and text
Widget to show battery, last heart reading -3rd party app
Interval based heart reading - third party app
Control music and other things with tasker via phone - 3rd party

Sending from phones so may have mistake

Few questions, am thinking of buying this mainly for sleep monitor as I hardly ever use the HR monitor while on stationary bike:
- What charger does it come with (do you need to by a different charger)?
- Has the issue with one of the updates borking the device now been resolved?
- Anyone paid import duty on this, if not what postage to UK did you choose?
- Is it worth getting another, replacement bracelet?

RobM:

1. It comes with a special USB lead, and charges from any USB port (PC or mains adapter)
2. Yes. Just be sure to buy the Global version to be completely safe.
3. If you choose the standard "free" postage, you have a 99.9% chance of avoiding duty.
4. Yes. Check my post #80 in this thread for links.

My response sent today back to them was this:

Hi,

Order details are as follows:

XX b

I have already contacted Yodel yesterday and they have still yet to receive the parcel at their sorting centre - if you also check the tracking on the Yodel website it still states they have yet to receive the parcel on their website too - heres a direct link showing theres a "delay" and they have been waiting 10 days for it: https://www.yodel.co.uk/tracking/JJXXXXXX

It seems the parcel was "shipped" by yourselves and went missing from this point with no further information.

The shipping method and your order email states 7-10 working days for delivery which will expire at the end of this week - I'm happy to wait until this point but I wont be prepared to wait until 11/01/2017 as that is well over the limit stated for delivery.

I also opted for insurance during checkout which I paid extra incase this item was lost or not received. If it doesn't arrive by the end of this week I would appreciate it if you can refund this order back to my paypal account to save me from having to open a dispute over this as these were presents for people that will arrive too late to give.

I'm disappointed at the lack of tracking information as to where this package is also.

I await your response,

S.

----

If it doesnt come end of this week im opening a dispute via paypal. It will have been 10 working days by that point and I think thats fair - theres been no update since it was "shipped" and we have no idea where this package is as their 10 working days limit would have gone. They are also suggesting I wait until 11/01/2017 which is definitely something I can't do as it would expire the 30day paypal protection for the order preventing a claim! So if it doesnt come by Friday im opening a dispute.

I've ordered 2 from a different site from China ("Light in the box") on the 7th of December and received them on the 16th from UPS. I had to pay £21.95 extra on the duty/vat charges (£10.95 Import VAT + £11 Brokerage Charges) but they ("Light in the box") are refunding me because I paid extra and took insurance. Just putting this up there so people know what to expect.

if you get caught for customs on standard delivery you would be extremely unlucky 99% of time goes through ok how do you know you have been caught have someone contacted you before you calculate any tax you should check your invoice on gearbest to see how much they put on customs declaration in my case they put the item as 11.39 usd and delivery as 1.72 usd so 13.11 usd total for customs so no customs to pay even if it got picked up whereas it should have been 22.79 usd and 3 usd delivery so 25.79 usd total as for how you pay it normally your courier will pay it on your behalf and charge you a service fee of around 10 pound for doing it they will contact you to tell you the amount you have to pay before they will deliver it

Mine finally arrived today (I ordered 2) - didnt have to pay any customs charges thankfully either. Yodel delivered it.

Both boxes were sealed in cellophane so appear brand new. Ones a present for the wife so never opened both but the one I have opened appears to work fine. Heart sensor appears working too but obviously wont work on the top side of the wrist (only underneath). Just charging it now so will reserve what I think properly until after Xmas.

I would personally say although mine arrived without issues, it may just be worth paying the extra bit more just to get it faster and with better protection really. For inexpensive items - gearbest seems fine but for costly items I definitely wouldnt recommend Gearbest just because of all the horror stories people have written about them. This arrived fairly quickly (10 working days) (ordered on 10th December, Arrived today on 22nd December) without issue however.

Definitely pay using paypal, take out the insurance option if you can too I think (I did).

I got into contact with Yodel and they advised me that they believe the item to be lost, and to get in contact with the seller as they would be able to chase it up. So I submit a ticket to Gearbest and this was their response:

I think now, I am going to follow up on some previous advice about a public review of Gearbest, and see what happens there. As you can tell, I had already been in contact with them regarding this, even stating that I know others who have ordered AFTER me have received their products quicker than me. There's really no excuse to set January 24th as the date they will do anything, especially when my delivery option clearly stated seven to ten working days.

Remind me not to use Gearbest ever again.

hi im still in the same boat as you no further update since that 16/12 leaving hong kong as you know i raised a ticket on the 22/12 so i sent a follow up email this morning to which i got the following response

I am sorry to hear you haven't received the items yet.
In order to resolve it, please kindly confirm the following points:

1) Please reconfirm your delivery address in “ My accounts”:
Consignee name:
Detailed address:
City:
State(Province):
Postal code:
Country:
Phone:

2)Please contact your local Yodel company in charge of your area, stating your name and address. In some cases, Yodel company may require customers to collect parcels over there. Kindly let us know the results.

3)We shipped on date (December 9, 2016).
Therefore your delivery deadline will expire on date(January 9, 2017).

Once we receive all details above, we will offer you the right resolution for your case on this date.
Please note this timeframe is only decided by the carrier to consider the item lost. Some other providers would even use a 180day deadline after shipment.
As a proof of goodwill, we Gearbest commit to help our customer the best we can, by resolving delivery issues as early as possible.

Once again we are sorry for this inconvenience, and we will do best to resolve it to your satisfaction.

Thank you for your patience and collaboration.

We hope to resolve this issue as soon as possible and wish you a happy holiday season.

Gaaaah, that makes me even more annoyed. What delivery option did you pay for? I paid for the priority (which I think was about £1.50?).

I have since left a review on Trust Pilot (along with my order number), and I have e-mailed them again and told them that the 24th was unacceptable amount of time. I have yet to have a response to either, but I will update when I do.

I spoke to Yodel over the chat thingy. Does it make a difference if you talk to them over the phone?

Depending on what they next have to say I will follow up with opening a dispute with Paypal.

Thank you for getting back in touch.

So, Obbeh2692 and BUCKUM2 (and anyone else having difficulties), it would seem that some rather persistent, eloquent and public complaining did the trick.

I just received the following update on my GearBest ticket, names and details have been removed:

An actual response, from an actual human (it would seem), and they took heed from my previous replies to not quote back the 24th January as the date when they intend to do anything. Whilst I am still suspicious about the whereabouts of my MiBand (especially since so many others seemed to have received theirs after having ordered around the same date, or better yet, after the date I ordered), I have a full refund. I therefore will wait and see if it turns up in the next week or so, and if not, I will be ordering from elsewhere.

It's good that Gearbest have offered me a full refund, however, I will say that it shouldn't take four e-mails, and a public review for their customer services to kick into action. GearBest should have got in touch with their couriers when I raised the original ticket.

I will update my Trust Pilot review accordingly, and I suggest anyone else who has issues with their packages to be that little bit more demanding, and if necessary leave a public review.

Good luck, and I will update if my MiBand ever makes an appearance.

(Oh, and thank you for all of the help, you guys are lovely!)

Geekbuying are great and deliver ultra-fast.

It's Gearbest who seem to regularly delay shipping or "lose" items in transit.

Protip: Paying Gearbest for "insurance" or "faster shipping" is just a complete scam and invariably results in your order either being delayed or being hit with import duties. If you must purchase from Gearbest, always use the standard "free" shipping to have any chance of receiving the item.
