Been waiting for this to drop for the last month and is finally under £400. Seems unbeatable off the reviews for a 1080p projector in this price range. Also at PC world online.

Great projector for the money. Spend some time to set it up, ceiling mount with proper screen. Budget for the proper 3D glasses & transmitter. If you are lazy, just buy a 100" tv for the same effect!

I am thinking about buying a sound bar and 3D glasses. At the moment, I have connected my laptop to the projector but I am looking for a good Android box to have kodi in it. Any ideas on any of theses items?
If you can get the triple AAA for a reasonable price then yeah worth it. But i had a white wall prior and it still looked great.

I've had mine on tonight watching the new David Brent film. From the sky gift deal. Really enjoyed it by the way!
Had it for a few months now onto a black widow painted wall. But i really wouldn't worry too much about the paint mix providing you have a nice big pale wall. It is really great for special occasions. For me that means big sporting events or movies and the odd bit of gaming. Still use the TV for everything else so have a hdmi 1 in 2 out and into a receiver for the full experience of surround sound.

Unfortunately not, just a little height adjustment with the three spindly screw legs. they are completely useless and make it unstable. With the Benq you can at least slightly tweak the lens a few degrees.
My old Panasonic projector had a joystick on top for full horizontal and vertical positioning, never going budget again :disappointed:

You can mount it from a bracket upside down on a ceiling or on a shelf that's around 6ft high. I have mine mounted on a book stand with a few small flat items underneath to get the picture right. There are 3 or 4 black adjustable legs on it too. It's around 12 ft away from a magnolia painted wall and gives me a 120 inch stunning picture. You can adjust focus size and also keystone to get the image you want. Hope this helps

I tested this against benq hd680. Which was on discount at richer sounds da for about 370. Opto. A is brighter so yiu can watch it better o ambiant light, but benq is alao really good to watch under ambiant light such as news or football. But whne the lughts are off, the better value brightness of optoma becomea downside, the whites appear brighter and you loose detail, for example, clouds on daylight movie will be lost. So the benq performs better on no light environment. That is why i choose benq as i only use the projector for movie watching at pitch drakness. But again optoma ia pretty good as well. Also please conside the drop distance if you are planing to fit it at the oposide wall to the screen, as benq have shorter "which means better" distance drop. Not much diffetence but let me tell you my setup. I wanted exactly 120" on my wall and i wanted to place it on a shelf across the room not on a bracket hanging in the middle of the room, so i needed exactly between 400-420cm distance from the wall. Benq gave me 120" view at 430cm, so i had to stick with approx 117" result.

Got one of these last year (Amazon Italy) for around this price and it is amazing. I looked a a few inc BenQ but as I use this for PS4 too I went for the Optima due to low lag. Internal speaker is fine but surround sound is worth getting.
I have a 120in screen & its throw distance for that is 12-14ft away.
Other poster is right about the local cinema losing its wow factor! Did feel a bit sick playing Wolfenstein on it for the first few goes tho!

I have the HD141X and the only time I really notice fan noise is when Dynamic Black is turned-on (which brightens up the picture). I do use an AV system with it though, so most of the time the audio far out-weighs any noise from the fan. Excellent projector, but why they make the casing black I have no idea... most people I know have white ceilings!

I've got the Optoma and would agree the Benq W1070 is a better buy at £399.
The housing on the Benq is superior, it has a small amount of vertical lens shift and it's noticeably quieter.

Had my Benq W1070 for three years but can say its the best item I have ever bought!! ok it's no good for a bright room but nothing compares to watching films and gaming on it especially since its on the ceiling and the screen disappears into its mounting also on the ceiling meaning the room can be used for other things and is not dominated by a 90 inch screen !!! Yes you need a reciever with speakers but you can get a budget yamaha for around £150/200 quid which will work fantastic.... Buy buy buy !!!

2 key things: (1) a suitable wall or screen to project onto and (2) how much ambient light is in the room / do you watch tv during the day.
It has replaced my tv permanently, however I generally only watch tv/films in the evening (where it comes into its own).

You could do but many don't , especially in the summer months , the picture will be washed out and look like terrible , these things need a darkened room to get the best out of them , along with a good source material.

True about the audio system, although I've found the internal speaker passable if you are in a hurry. But as an AV system you will not beat a projector. You'll never go back. I find absolutely no reason to go the cinema anymore and it all folds away so it doesn't dominate the room when I have friends, or want to read. You'll probably need a ceiling mount and long, quality, hdmi cables, but it really depends on your unique setup, but don't worry it's not too hard and the rewards will blow your, and your friends mind....

I bought this 2 years ago and have to say I can count on one hand how many times I've watched my Tv since it's installation. I have it hooked up to my BT box, various games consoles, Fire box all through an AV and can honestly say every time I sit to watch / play something I just marvel in its brilliance! :smile: I have the 92" optima screen also which I have positioned over the window of the room which blocks out the light so don't have any light issues. I would replace the unit in a heartbeat if it ever failed.

Lens shift. More inputs e.g. vga. Cheaper replacement lamps. Those figures aren't always comparable or accurate. Also depends on your needs/room.
23,000 contrast & 3,000 lumens on the HD141x vs 10,000 contrast & 2,000 lumens on the W1070, am I missing something which makes the W1070 a better model? Both are similarly priced at RS at the moment

I had one of the warehouse ones, arrived perfect condition but couldn't get a good picture from it though reading reviews might just be the pj - love the idea of it but you need a perfectly flat surface otherwise you get an odd wave effect with no straight lines.

While I do agree with light issue during summer days, I got LG PF1000 LED projector and it's projecting on wall on living room. It has replaced our TV last year around same time. I bought for £899 that time but amazon is currenty selling at £699. I know it's big price diffrence compared to Optama deal, If I would have been you would invest in future.
This does look excellent, and is available for £622 via Amazon Warehouse, if you don't mind a few minor cosmetic imperfections
