if its 90% protein why does a 31.5g serving only have 24g of protein? that sounds like standard 80% Whey rather than a 90% isolate?

edit: just read, its a blended powder rather than a standard Whey powder.

Would this be a suitable alternative to The Protein Works Diet whey isolate 97? I use this as it causes less bloating and related side effects :disappointed:

It mixes well and goes down easily. No bloating issues here. Been through around 6 or 7 tubs. Maybe give it a shot with 1 tub

I see there are so many varieties of these things...does this compares better than Holland &Barrett types where it's buy one get one for a penny? If they are the same stuff then H&B looks good, if not the same then this looks like the best deal.

There is no harm in using it in conjunction with Scivation Xtend.I personally use Sciv during workout and TPW Whey 80 post workout with L Glutamine in it. Bloating can also be caused by less water consumption or dairy in diet

No bias, I buy Gold Standard Vanilla by the 5kg bag, but this flavour is terrible.

Contains Acesfulme, so a no from me. Got Iritis and nearly lost sight in one eye the last time I had Optimum Gold. I stick with USN now

Genuine question: why is this popular when it's essentially £56.81 for 5kg of 76% whey protein (and a market leader even when it's not discounted and £50 for 2.2kg)?

5kg of Rocky Road whey concentrate (80%) at MyProtein is £40 with the 30% off codes that are constantly about, or even less during promotions (£38 a few weeks ago, with 5kg unflavoured whey concentrate being not much over £30). I'm sure it's a similar situation at other direct sellers like Bulk Powders / Bodybuilding Warehouse etc.

This 76% protein costs more than 5kg of flavoured whey isolate (90%) after discounts.

Is it viewed as being higher quality (e.g better amino acid profile) or are you simply paying for brand (endorsements, advertising etc)? Had a chat a couple of years back with one of the Optimum Nutrition fitness 'personalities' who was a mate of a mate. He claimed that all the whey sold in the UK was waste product from a single cheese manufacturer in Ireland and that the more expensive brands are better quality because they are the first whey extracted, similar to with olive oil having multiple pressings, starting with virgin and with the product becoming progressively cheaper and less desirable. He makes a living from his employer selling the stuff, who clearly have a vested interest in having a narrative about quality of product rather than value added via branding.

Is there any consensus on this?

I bought a Banana flavoured ON after having it in the past.
Had a CRAZY DISGUSTING after taste.
Complained they checked the batch said it was fine.
Didn't replace or refund.

Will not buy ON again.

Was almost tempted to try at this price but after hearing its another dodgy flavour...will give it a miss.

You obviously know nothing about supplement companies within the UK then, bulk powers are one of the biggest supplement companies in the UK.

It is all changed recently and gone downhill, hence all the offers. I bought two tubs a few months back. Gave me very bad stomach cramps and ultimately the worst diarrhea of my life. I sent them back and Amazon were very helpful in arranging for the return. I started off with Optimum Gold quite a few years back. They were best in the business at that time. A quick internet search showed that they have changed the sweetener in their formula which does not suit everybody. Believe me if it does not suit you and gives you funny tummy, stay near the toilet, don't stray away. I had to call my boy to get out of the his shower because I was so desperate to use the loo.

Bought two 5 kg bags from Bulk Powders back in April and am doing OK with them although I don't believe in the primary importance of protein. You need to know the correct number of calories for your goal, everything else is secondary. I think the cheapest (Tesco's own brand) peanut butter helps me more in packing muscle than any brotein powder. Genuine food all the way. Chicken liver, eggs, peanut butter, cashews, oats. For weight-loss manipulate your carbs. For muscle-gain eat good fats (monosaturates) and a some saturated fat (strictly controlled). We under rate fats and over-rate protein and just don't eat enough to feed our workouts.

If it suits your tummy, go for it but cheaper options like Myprotein or Bulk Powders are not much different. It is all about marketing. For £25 for 2.2kg, it is not much more expensive than Bulk Powders who sell 2.5 kg for £31.19 minus the discount code at the time (today it is 25% off) plus delivery. Should workout the same. As I said, if it suits your tum, go for it but there is no need to pay anything more than £25 for a tub.

Weird. I've had flavours I don't like before but never moaned or kicked the brand for it.
It's protein. ! Just throw some water over it and get it down your neck.
It's not a meal, swallow it before the gym , after the gym or as part of your balanced diet then get on with your day and forget about it. Takes 2 seconds to neck and it's the best on the market bar none. !
If you want a perfectly nice tasting Milkshake then pop to Macdonalds !!
