Ebay and Amazon usually have the monthly promo plushes, which are amazing. A new one from the Japanese stores each month but can tend to be a bit pricey. Quality is amazing and they're so unique compared to the generic ones we get over here.

I'e been really impressed with the cheap Ebay ones. Eevee and Snorlax are particularly adorable and well-made.

A lot of the time, it's more about protecting copyright, trademarks etc than safety. But that doesn't sit well with the public, so the safety card is continually and excessively played. Obviously not all the time, but you get it.

Spend a week in Japan and you'll realise that everything in Tokyo Toys has at least a 1000% markup. Buy anything you want from there from AliExpress and you'll save a tonne.

How soft and cuddly are these? Is there a small, barely noticeable box in the middle of it or is it a bloody massive speaker inside?

There's a massive rock hard but on the bottom where the batteries go, which is covered by an ill-fitting flap. The inside isn't particularly soft either. My little girl loves it though.

not that soft and cuddly. It's similar to that fur real stuff, mostly hard with a fabric cover and bit of stuffing/padding in places

We got one from Tokyotoys in Birmingham for £15, it's not my friend pikachu but it looks very similar. They have an online store.

looks like I did right to go with my gut instinct and do the 114 mile round trip for it....oos in my nearest stores, argos saying no more "proper" (as in most stores not just the odd couple) till 19th and smyths estimated dates for home delivery pushed back till middle of this month too....that and ill kids now too.
as for other plush toys....we got a squirtle from asda last Tuesday for a tenner.
