I'm sure it's illegal to sell refurbished as new (auction sites aside). I bought a refurb ssd once that was cheap, but they emailed post delivery to say they only found out it was a refurb and would take it back if I so wished. It was blamed on an administrative error and they were very apologetic!

Installed mine last night, working flawlessly so far and very quiet. Bit worried however that like others in this thread, mine didn't have seals on the box and the CD appeared to have been used before (the packet it came in has a rip on it). Not to mention the CD itself didn't even work (nothing happened after inserting many times) and I had to download the drivers off the internet.

Is there any way to confirm if it's a refurb or not? I'm super happy with the card / deal but if I've potentially been sold a refurb that wasn't advertised as such I'd be less than impressed.

just inspected mine. like others, paper accessories seem used, but static bag is sealed. I'm thinking manufacturer refurb or something.

My old 660 would just about play GTA V, mostly smoothly. On the 1070 the fans don't even turn on :-)

My first PC build is up and running:D quite a few parts bought from hduk deals including this card and the motherboard, I am so relieved !! Thanks to all deal posters and for the advice! Cable management needs some work but for the moment im really happy, Will probably try and improve it a bit when i add another SSD.

How long should the firmware update take? Mines been stick at "Searching for display adapters to update" for about 15 mins now. The pc is responsive and it's using 30% cpu

Mine showing micron chip as well... however on the other hand - for the same amount of money you can now buy 1060 Gaming X but even if OCed it won't be a match to Armor 1070 factory OC. So to me it's still win-win.

Yes, mine's using micron memory too (verified via GPU-Z). Figure I may as well go to the new BIOS just in case.

If anyone's running old motherboards and can't this card to display, you'll most likely need to upgrade your mobo BIOS to the very latest. It was the only thing that resolved my issue last night (Gigabyte mobo, needed to install a beta BIOS).

For anyone who is into overclocking I would advise updating the BIOS. I had 2 crashes when alt-tabbing out of games when my memory was overclocked.

These cards, well mine anyway has Micron which has a reputation for having less overclocking headroom but I'm pretty stable at 9000Mhz atm (1000Mhz above stock) needs more testing to be 100% sure though.

Just opened the box...


No seals on the box but doesn't look like it's ever been opened. The driver disk envelope was a little crinkled and folded but the actual GPU was sealed and has the fan sticker in place.

I was thinking of doing the same thing but on the christmas returns page it says it isn't valid for 'clearance sales'. Does this count as a clearance sale? I'm just wondering because it's no longer on their site. If so, then it's only got the regular 14 day return.

My cd/installation guide also looks like it has been handled before and I was concerned I might of had a return with coil whine or something but thankfully it's totally silent

Okay, thanks everyone for your help! I might just keep it boxed and see if there are any leaks before CES, can always return it in the new year if the 1080Ti shakes things up.

Mine has been delivered. Box wasn't sealed but all other components are as new and seemingly untouched. The anti-static bag containing the card is completely sealed.

The CD, stickers and installation manual along with the card itself seem to be in pristine condition - The card that I've received is anyways.

I seem to remember a few cards over the years have previously opened boxes, but thought this was always due to the fre game promos they offer which always have time-sensitive redemption. Would explain why some people flog game codes on ebay with 20 stock of each.

Have you checked the driver CD and fold-out installation guide and sticker sheet in the thin black cardboard sleeve/box? Mine are clearly creased, bashed around and peeled in a way I doubt could occur in transit, as if the paper CD sleeve has already been opened and used a few times, and the installation guide unfolded and refolded numerous times. There's also a few minor scratches and dust on the CD.

Maybe I'm being overly cautious, but I've experienced ebuyer shenanigans in the past and it was such a good deal that I'm trying to find the catch.

Just had mine delivered to work, and as mentioned, only a seal on the anti-static bag. Contents of the box was a bit dog-eared too, is clearly second hand or has been man-handled. Is anyone sure these are new and not RMAs/refurbs? MSI has recently had massive issues and recalls with 1070s as per https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/4wh8jc/msi_officially_announces_gtx_1070_quality/ and ebuyer's reputation isn't exactly great.

I'm wondering if these cards are just refurbs of all the returns rebadged with a new model name. Can anybody check whether the card uses Micron or Samsung memory chips using GPU-Z or similar? Maybe I'm just paranoid, but can never remember buying a graphics card without a sealed box before.

I would still use my own paste. Fully modular helps a lot with a large PSU with tons of cables. Make it nice and tidy :smiley:

If u wanna squeeze some more out of ure card and increase ure picture quality in 1080p look up super sampling in youtube(top vid OG super sampling), you may already know about it, not tried it myself.

​You haven't read what i said then and should brush up on your comprehension skills. I said it was a pricing mistake. I never said people wouldn't get them and in fact i always thought this would slip through. I only posted a few times about it being an error as I was trying to help direct people to the Amazon price (which was exactly the same, except with a 3 instead of a 2 at the front) which showed it was a clear mistake by ebuyer. This sort of thing happens a lot. Earlier this year I got a monitor that the btshop were price matching with Amazon but they too put a 2 instead of a 3 at the front, making it £100 cheaper. It was a clear mistake but I still got it as it probably went unnoticed or it didn't cost them much (or it probably only took it down to about cost price for them)


Fortunately it was an error that probably only took it to cost price for ebuyer so they either didnt notice or didnt care.

Also, why would i be mad? A few months ago I picked up a like new msi gtx 1080 gaming x for £430 in an Amazon warehouse deal. Came with a gow code as well which i sold for £30 too. So don't worry, im fine mate :smile:

Within the app, login, then choose "activity". Click the cog in the top right, the click "deal alerts". You should see a big red plus icon on the bottom right, just select that to add new ones. Your list of them will appear at the bottom of that screen (although you need to scroll up to add more).

You can also set the notification settings which is useful. some people post at all kind of mad hours so you can choose the silent option. When its outside of the silent option, you'll get sent any that you've missed. Same thing goes for if you enable flight mode and then disable it.

If you use the HUKD app, the alerts are pretty useful for that. I get notifications on all sorts of stuff I'm after but rarely see. Theres usually a slight delay (10-20 mins) in the push notification coming through, but they're generally quite timely

To those who have not had theirs dispatched but ordered before some of the later dispatched ones (10.30am ect) well worth raising it with customer services, that's not right or fair, you have had to change your plans to be in to receive delivery, and really should be compensated with a different GTX 1070.

It's not an error, this exact 1070 card was priced slightly less than this in the USA during cyber monday ($350). so it's probably just the new low end of 1070 pricing that will occur soon.

if vega is released around the 1080s current price then the 1080 will have to fall from it's current £500-600 level, and the 1070 would probably also fall to a lower price bracket in order to facilitate the new price tiers with 1080ti being priced higher than both vega and 1080.

i have a 2500k and can still play most new titles at highest settings, some cpu intensive games will drop frames here and there when you first start the game ie GTAV, your 3570k should do fine

I do find it odd when someone claims a 'fact' as though they were actually present at the time, or they were the actual person who did the 'fact' in question...

Think mine's going through okay (so far). I just called and spoke to someone to change delivery address too, and she didn't say anything was out of the ordinary, so maybe it's okay? Will let you all know what happens :smiley:

Depends what resolution you're running at.
1080p - 1440p, save your money and get any bog standard LED style SLI bridge.
4K - get one of the new HB bridges. HB only really helps out at 4-8K resolutions.
You'll need to check your motherboard PCIE slot spacing to determine what length SLI bridge you want though.

The price suggests this was a genuine deal. Anything ending .96p, .97p, .98p is shorthand for 'end of line' or 'clearance'. The only question would be stock levels.

Part of me is glad I missed this deal.

I am looking for a graphics card for around £150 but probably would have got this. And then I would have had to upgrade my Dell's PSU too. And probably a new mobo. And then some more and faster memory. And a newer CPU - my i7 is getting a bit old.

Probably all bit unnecessary just for playing Castle Crashers and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.

Mine seemed to go through okay but then I got an email saying unavailable due to stock levels, then I got another email saying payment had been taken and order is being processed. Order status on the website changed from 'Stock problem' to 'Processing order' :S

Same CPU here, with 1070, runs fine.
You won't experience any bottlenecking.
Although the 3570k is old, comparatively speaking in the tech world, it's really not that behind from Skylake. 10%-ish
Reason being Intel has no incentive to significantly boost their performance in CPUs in a market they're already dominating.
AMD Ryzen might be a game changer.

Yeah, just don't get a cheap unbranded PSU... I did once and it cooked my components after a power spike! I would not spend less than £50 and be wary of high wattage PSUs at a low price (e.g a 750w for £30).

I would recommend the Corsair SF450. It's only 450w but very reliable. You don't need a huge PSU (unless you are running SLI) as the gtx 1070 is very efficient.

Best advice is always research what you are buying and check out reviews from multiple sources.

Got a slightly ageing CPU (i5 3570k) and Mobo (Asus P8Z77-V LX), I assume this will still fit ok on my system? Any confirmation would be great.

The x99 CPUs generally aren't worth it for gaming, but definitely have their place if you need more threads to work with for non-gaming applications.

They're also useful if you mainly use your PC for something more multi-threaded, but would also like to play modern AAA games in your spare time.

with vega on horizon and that leaked benchmark im holding fire, think anyone would be crazy to upgrade at the mo, nvidia prices will plummet im betting

Excellent price but got a feeling prices may drop down a peg in two weeks with the release of the 1080ti.

Though that may never happen and this is by far the best price so far. Hopefully other retailers will offer similar deals in the coming days (Scan/Overclockers).

A 6600k or 6700k, 16GB of DDR4 RAM and an SSD for your OS and most played games. Beyond that it doesn't matter too much, in all honesty.

You'll also need a Z170 chipset motherboard for a 6600k or 6700k and don't cheap out on the PSU, but specifically which MoBo and PSU you buy doesn't really matter.

Paid 320 for the 1070 MSI Gaming X ( with watchdogs 2) 2 weeks ago and I thought that was a bargain, this is nuts.

The 1070 is on par, if not a bit faster than a 980ti. It will be good upgrade from the 970 but its upto you if you think its worth spending £300. This is a hell of a deal for the card but the 970 is still a damn good card. You could sell the 970 for about £100ish? then it's an upgrade for £200.

Its a great price but i think i will keep my 970 till the the next gen of cards come out although im very very tempted but to be fair this is about what they should of been at launch as a replacement for the 970 which were £240 to around £300 i think Nvidia were being a bit greedy as it wasnt a £50 hike it was a couple of hundred more for some cards.

why wouldn't it be cheap? vega and 1080ti are coming soon. depending on how cheap vega is it might look more tempting than a 1070 or 1080.

For less than £300 this is a crazy good deal for an 8GB GTX 1070 of any brand, let alone from MSI and at a similar price to the 6GB 1060.
