don't believe that for one second, we had these up with energise batteries and they lasted 6-8 weeks. The Duracell aren't that much better

The best/cheapest D batteries to use with these lights as you need 9 of them

Are these a reliable alternative to fitting a PIR light? I'd prefer to avoid drilling a large hole from outside to the inside to power the light if possible

since when has 140 Lumens been 'extremely bright'?

Three screws
They provide enough light to guide your way and illuminate a door way, good spread of light. Recently bought a stronger one for a bigger area, suppose it depends on the area you want to light but for us they are perfect.

Pointless comment. Have you not considered that battery life is related to frequency with which they turn on?

ours are kept outside a business premises, we lock up at 4.30pm and then there is no one there until we unlock at 8am, ours gets used maybe once or twice a day. that it my book it very low usage.

Can believe what you like my friend, all i know is I put the batteries in 16 months ago and haven't replaced them yet, one is on our front door and I'd on every night at least twice. Maybe you have faulty ones as there are lots of comments about long battery life on Amazon. Maybe you have something triggering it when you aren't there. Might be worth paying for the Duracell ultra ones
