I would say MS only benefits from apps like this, they simply wash their hands if the studios press to sue, the app devs get something from the ads and if they are smart can wash their hands that they have clients posting videos and that "legal" content can also be shared (and these clients all fictive of course). I wish them good luck.

There have been lengthy adverts at the start of films at the cinema for 20+ years, this is nothing new (not that I agree but just putting the record straight). If you object to them how about buying your ticket earlier in the day and turning up late therefore avoiding them? (as others have said)
Guess you don't pay for a TV licence either since the Beeb still has adverts, don't buy DVDs/Blu-rays because they have adverts, don't pay for Sky because there's still adverts, steal newspapers/magazines etc. since they have adverts, heck my cornflakes advertises Star Wars so maybe I shouldn't pay for them? /s

Nah, I don't agree, there are loads that are rubbish but also lots of quality escapism. Recently watch Gone Girl, Mississippi Grind and Deadpool. Loves them all. Gave Jurassic park a whirl too, didn't rate that too much mind you.

Really? Why? Most of them are crap. Same tired Marvel garbage year after year these days.

No because in that instance I could just turnaround and walk out, something I have done before. In the cinena you have already paid by that point.

Hi TrebleR, what are the names of the alternative apps by the developer? Also, my XBOX already shows there is an update available for the app. I wonder if it is to disable it!
TrebleR
19 Dec 16#60
seems there are 3 apps from the same developer. Videos are same source as shoebox, so all movies out on DVD/Blu-ray are excellent quality, the rest are cam copy's.

I like movies and I like a lot of Hollywood movies, as do lots of people. So I want them to continue to make them. If they, and the cinema's, need to show a few adverts that I don't even need to watch, then so be it.

The new release movies have been added after the vetting process, it's guaranteed that they showed Microsoft a ton of B-movies in order to get it passed.
how on earth did it get past the vetting process? nice to see though

Thanks for bringing this to my attention OP just reported the app to MS........... WHY?
Reported to MS............. WHY?
And you BOTH are on here looking to exploit website pricing errors etc .............. or just leeching the freebies You are no different to anybody else .......... something for nothing helps all in life You need these types of website to stop TV and Film companys having a monopoly on pricing £10+ each for the cinema is not justified ......... just so they can pay more to those so called actors who need take after take to get it right

Do people have an allergy to ads or something lol.

That's a dose with so many ads. Went to see the same movie in Southern Ireland during the week and there was 1 ad. Movie started within 3 minutes of scheduled start time.

It was a midnight screening with unreserved seating and to be fair I didn't expect them to be stupid enough to show adverts before a special screening.

18 Dec 16#29
Why should I? I went to see the new Star Wars film the other night and was then forced to endure 25 minutes of adverts before it. Not trailers, adverts. Including the same Natwest one twice.
If the film industry doesn't respect me and my time then they can't expect any respect in return.

EU law. You're legally ok to stream view content like this, but not download. Strange but true.
gonna make the most of this before it gets taken down.

What, after it was submitted and verified under Microsoft's approval process? There are no repercussions other than for those within MS that haven't vetted the app.

Change the display settings on your TV. On mine using 'Cinema' (zoom on the spare tv) and adjusting the image position you can crop out the banner ads on the top and left

17 Dec 16#16
What, free movie streaming and you're complaining about ads?!
Mozart321
17 Dec 16#15
Be careful could be torrenting and not streaming. Streaming copyrighted content is not illegal whilst we are still in the EU. Sharing (torrenting) is.

I wouldn't trust downloading this incase xbox decide issue some temporary bans to people for doing this. It might not happen but I personally wouldn't risk it.

Sounds like dodgy piracy though? If people are happy to steal content then so be it. Now TV is on Xbox One and hardly expensive if you'd rather pay your way.

Hence why people are confused it's even on Xbox lol I'm sure Microsoft will remove it soon

The vast majority of the film and TV content in this app looks to be illegally pirated, if not all of it.
Are you allowed to promote these kinds of apps (and similar devices) on hukd?
The app itself isn't illegal, but the people behind it are making money from the illegal content that's on there.
