Unidays code doesn't stack with these codes. Both codes stack to bring the phone from £129.98 to £89
Aware that this phone was available for £79.01 with 3 codes stacking. But at present two codes stack. Nice little Christmas present.

had a bad experience with Motorola. in the two weeks ago I placed an order for this phone with the discount codes. paid via PayPal. but never got any order confirm from them only from PayPal. chased with motorola which took ages one day at a time email response as in India I believe I was getting the responses (responses are very bad and in poor english) for me to have to chase PayPal to try and get money back only to discover that Motorola cancelled the order.
No reason why, I believe it may have been down to me stacking the discount codes. However, this is only my point of view. Good deal if you can get it but check the order and emails for confirmation.

A lot of the phone for the money but be wary if you do need it quickly.
Ordered a G4 on 28th Nov with delivery estimated on 5th Dec. No sign on the 5th and no update since. Chased on their painfully slow Live Chat earlier today, was told the delay was due to high volume of orders. They gave me the Fedex tracking number which showed that my phone is currently in Memphis, USA. Been assured it will be here by Friday.
Reckon you should be alright if it's a Xmas gift though. Heat added.

How much RAM ? 64MB ?
You must be quite young. I remember my first PC had 384KB - yes Kilobytes - of RAM. In those days the maximum useable was 640KB, but you could run an bit extra in Extended or Expanded mode up to a max of 1024K, ie 1MB or RAM.
Oh, and it had a 20MB hard drive.
So 2GB is sheer luxury ...
Oh, them were the days

I looked at this deal last time it was posted, there was an additional £10 off last time .... TopCashBack code of MOG10.... but that has stopped working
I eneded up purchasing the same handset from Very.co.uk.... they are doing it for £119.99, in black and I had a £30 off £60 spend code, which took the price down to £90, plus its on 6 months interest free credit, so making it £15 / month.......
Anyway getting back to my point... in the comments from recent people who had purchased it, someone stated it was 2GB RAM.... apparently there is a 8GB version and a 16GB version, the 8 is 1GB Ram and the 16GB is 2GB Ram
Even at £130 it's still a fair bit more expensive than the Moto. I wouldn't buy the Moto at £130
TygerrTygerr
8 Dec 16#102
The UK version has different specifications, 16Gb removes 1Gb RAM but adds NFC. The MPN (SM4402AE7B1) that Very specifies matches the 1Gb RAM UK version. Check the amount of memory on the phone itself.

Bought one of these for my mum to replace her failing Nexus 5.
Yes, a downgrade in performance and screen, but the 5 was dying and wouldn't make it through a day on a charge (relatively new battery, too).
This little beauty goes for 2-3 days... it's standby is great and more than nippy enough for light usage (Gmail, WhatsApp, Facebook and Chrome).
It does the job well for a £90 phone.
If it's not suitable for you - don't buy it!
But suits my mum perfectly

1GB is a joke. I had a 1GB phone 5 years ago and it struggled, I'm no gamer. it's non-sense for any manufacturers to load a phone with low ram when we're heading towards 2017. IMO 3GB is a minimum if you want your phone to easily last another 2 years.

Ok the jury is still out for as to whether i return this phone / sell on ebay. Funnily enough i am replacing my wifes moto g 1st gen with this, that is painfully slow now but it is 3 years old!. My windows phone has 1GB and it runs fine. However I appreciate that's windows and not Android. What other Android phones at around at £100 would be better?
backyard
9 Dec 16#150
I have a 1gb RAM phone the Moto g3 heavy user. Built in Memory management means you can't use multi tasking properly as it will most times close the back ground app. It's useable but wish I had 2gb. The biggest pain the balls is the 8gb of internal memory.
Has 2Gb RAM, NFC & a fingerprint reader (good for android pay) and a decent version of Android, that is updatable (not some hacked together chinese version)
Very limited RAM is often the cause of rudimentary performance problems in cheap Android phones too. A lot of phones with 1GB RAM make a real mess of Android 5.1 and Android 6.0, their memory management unable to keep up with demand.
When the Motorola Moto G was upgraded from Android 4.4 to Android 5.0, its performance went through the floor for a while, for example.
For a bit of wider context, as I write this Facebook is using 480MB RAM on my phone.

I'm considering the G4 Play for my daughter and £89 is a good price but the 1GB of RAM is a concern, so I installed 'RAM Meter' on my 4 year-old Nexus 4 (2GB RAM / Android 5.1.1) and was surprised to discover that around 800MB of it's 2GB RAM is used when no apps are open. Opening half a dozen apps (Facebook, WhatsApp, Google Photos etc) increases this to around 1.1GB in use however the phone still works smoothly, presumably because of the extra capacity. I'm guessing this is the point at which a phone with 1GB RAM would start to struggle ?
Can anyone who owns the phone give any insight on this ? Neither myself nor my daughter are serious mobile gamers, but the ability to open numerous apps like the ones I mentioned above and flick smoothly between them without the phone starting to stutter or judder would be an important factor in choosing the right phone to buy.
I appreciate that different phones and different versions of Android will give differing results so this was only intended as a rough exercise for me to try and understand smartphone RAM a bit more.
I'd buy her a G4 if it's 5.5" screen didn't make it so damn big !

11 Dec 161#174
For info - at the time of writing, both the black and white G4 Plays are out of stock on the Motorola website and the KENSMOTO £30-off code expires today, so you'll have to keep checking and keep your fingers crossed if you want one !

It's a shame they're OOS as I'm half-tempted to bite at £89, despite the RAM concerns... the chances of it getting dropped by my daughter at some point are fairly high so I'd rather not spend too much more...
...plus it looks a lot less attractive at the full RRP and even at £115 (Amazon)
All the models are bundled together in the reviews. Ones describing the G4 Play refer to 1Gb.

Ordered this a couple of weeksago, when it was possible to get it for £79 with codes. Took a week to arrive after the despatch date; seems to come from China, via Japan, Germany and France ! Great deal, I've never spent more than £100 on a phone before and never intend to. All this cobblers about 1GB Ram being enough, depends on what you do with the phone - i don't game or do social media; currently have 1gb on my first generation moto g and that seems to be more than enough. Wouldn't be swapping that if the internal (non-removable) battery wasn't dying... Thankfully the one on this is removable.

It's a shame they upped the screen on the G4 to 5.5 inches, and crippled the 5 inch model with only 1GB ram. They have lost part of their user base who preferred the smaller screen size.
You will struggle with only 1GB ram, my G2 frequently freezes when switching apps, and I often return to a recently used app to find it has been unloaded from memory, eg: Facebook, so the message I was half way through typing has been lost. Chrome is very laggy, the keyboard often freezes and it takes a few seconds before the text appears on screen. Also following recent updates I can no longer have Google Music and Google Maps open at the same time while driving as they both constantly freeze and stutter, which is annoying on long car journeys. And if you're wondering why your phone randomly freezes every minute or so - it's the Facebook checking for updates in the background, and you can't turn it off (without rooting the phone and invalidating your warranty). Just a few examples.

If you don't have any social media apps or games installed then yes, it'll probably be fine. But I think you'll find you're in the minority there.
If you had a phone with 6Gb RAM probably about 2.5 - 3.5Gb would be used in the same scenario.
Nevertheless, more RAM is better but have no experience with Android 6 handsets with 1Gb RAM so no idea if those stutter...

I certainly be interested to hear from anyone who has a G4 play and how much ram they free when Facebook and a browser session is open?
TrebleR
12 Dec 162#185
More ram is better, but to be honest its badly made apps using too much ram that drive up the necessity of more ram.
Unless your a hard core gamer, 1GB ram is fine for everyday use for browsing, social media, etc.
As an app developer I ordered this as the android nougat update is due this month and if my developed apps work on this phone they will work on pretty much any handset.
I got this deal when it was on the £79 pound deal. Only got delivered today! However, very happy with it.

I hope you all get your phones on time and there are no problems with them. I bought a G4 when they first came out. I ordered it direct from Motorola. I've had problems with it since it was 3 months old. It's been 'repaired' twice to no avail. Motorola are now refusing to give me a refund, in contravention of the Consumer Rights Act, 2015. Customer service is abysmal. It takes ages to get through on the phone and they take several days to reply to emails, usually with an unsatisfactory reply.
If they tell you to send it in for repair it takes them at least 3 days to email you the label, which you have to print yourself. Then you have to take a day off for the phone to be collected and another day for them to return it to you. Alternatively you can drive to the depot (30 mile round trip for me) or post it via Royal Mail at your own expense.
I now have a useless phone and have made a claim with Barclaycard under Section 75.

to think desktop pc's had 64MB of ram!
I have moto g4 with 2GB of RAM and it's fine, usually runs @ 1.3GB usage, u need to do regular housework, delete apps u don't use, don't install software u don't need.
Heat added.
not only this but motorola ship their phones from china thats why the long delivery.
if id known it was getting shipped from china i would not have bothered and id of used bangood or gearbest instead and bought a chinese phone
I'm guessing update Android system is the the only reason
You must be quite young. I remember my first PC had 384KB - yes Kilobytes - of RAM. In those days the maximum useable was 640KB, but you could run an bit extra in Extended or Expanded mode up to a max of 1024K, ie 1MB or RAM.
Oh, and it had a 20MB hard drive.
So 2GB is sheer luxury ...
Oh, them were the days
(I more or less follow this rule for everything I use, if it ain't broke then don't fix it)
Can't see a 2GB version on their site. Is it available in the UK?
Heat OP!
Technical specifications:
1.2GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
2GB RAM.

The G4 Play does have NFC I believe.....not sure about compass!
They are shipping from China
Hope this helps someone!

Seriously, why would you?
I am yet to power the phone because the back cover came with few scratches . I just got in touch with their Customers Services and they asked for images which were sent to them.
Got caught up in the euphoria last time and ordered it for my 8yr old as he takes coach to school and back so useful for him letting me know he is delayed etc.
As long as you can play a few games on it and whatsapp - thats all he really needs, plus a decent battery life!
*develops apps for a career.
Android has always needed a minimum of 2GB to run smoothly. It's why it was at such a disadvantage in it's early years compared to iOS, when putting that much RAM in a phone was very expensive.
These days there's no excuse. Avoid.
And that 1GB was actually 890MB or something.
Intel Inside i386
133MHz FSB
16MB RAM
20MB Hard drive
I had lots of fun using Drivespace to double the size of that damn hard drive. It backfired and was slower than before!!!
Hope this makes you feel better IMHO :smirk:
Great phone for the money and should last a good two years rather than buying this junk and having buyers remorse after a few weeks.
But internally, nah!, they weren't, no ..... :-(
Lol.
Has 2Gb RAM, NFC & a fingerprint reader (good for android pay) and a decent version of Android, that is updatable (not some hacked together chinese version)
A few quotes:
Very limited RAM is often the cause of rudimentary performance problems in cheap Android phones too. A lot of phones with 1GB RAM make a real mess of Android 5.1 and Android 6.0, their memory management unable to keep up with demand.
When the Motorola Moto G was upgraded from Android 4.4 to Android 5.0, its performance went through the floor for a while, for example.
For a bit of wider context, as I write this Facebook is using 480MB RAM on my phone.
Nice find though op..... :disappointed:
