I'm confused now, I was going to vote hot after reading through everyones post, but then I see that Welshtomuk voted cold, and well he made a convincing argument, backed up by factual evidence.

Well it'll be £20.89 in 29 days as displayed by the listing page.
That's reason enough, no?

I bought it at £7.69, it is now out of beta and is £20.89. £7.69 is for the next 30 days only.

ok fair enough, not sure many people would ever pay £20 for it would they?
BuzzDuraband
20 Dec 161#7
No. Which is why £7.69 is a bargain. Even more so now than the last time it was posted.
Regardless of its age, it's a great price for anybody living in the here and now. It's £7.69, it's now out of beta and it'll be soon £20.89.
Not sure how that would clreflect a chilly temperature.

Agree it is fair to highlight the limited time before the price goes up - Didn't mention that in the post though hence my initial reaction. Hopefully our conversation means this will now get heat :smirk:

Having bought this already for several platforms (Windows included), be aware that there's still another charge for Windows 10 mobile. There's nothing really different between this version and the Windows mobile one, other than Microsoft have labelled the mobile version as "pocket".
It's a shame too that the Windows 10 version isn't a universal app. The Windows 10 mobile version could have been something special if i had supported Continuum and projection to an external display.
That would have helped to shift a few more units.
I'm a big Microsoft fan but they keep on shooting themselves in the foot at every opportunity.
Heat for the deal though, it's a useful heads-up for the price rise.

What's the difference between this and the pc version?

You mean the original java version? For me the most important difference is that this runs 10x better. The performance of the java version is awful.

Unless things have changed, the java version has a bunch of mods that you can't play on the windows store version which is something that a lot of people find attractive for those wanting different graphics and gameplay options. Part of me wishes I went for the beta offer for the java version a while back.

What? Why would it install this on my xbox? I'm confused.

Judging from the green Xbox Live banner at the top of the picture for this version of Minecraft, my guess is that this counts as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so you can have it installed on both your PC and Xbox One and can play from wherever you left off on either device

Already got the Java (original) version and want to claim this for free?
Go to Mojang.com
Click on Account and login
Under "My Games" you should see your original version of Minecraft along with purchase date, and below that is "Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta".
Players who own the PC/Mac version of Minecraft get Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta for free. All you need to do is claim your gift code below by clicking the button below then following the instructions. As you might have guessed, Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta can only be played on Windows 10.
Click on "Claim your free copy" button.
That generates a code, which you can either manually redeem, or if like me and you are already logged in with a Live account, it auto-redirects to the Microsoft account site with the code entered to click redeem.
Thank you

Having just done this while typing this I can confirm there are no issues about one page saying Beta version, and the store front not saying Beta. A page refresh after redeeming the code and the one in the Windows Store now says install.
