Just read that Cortana is launching today on Android and on iOS in the next few weeks blogs.windows.com/win…ok/
Microsoft's virtual assistant that is built into Windows 10 devices can do the standard 'what's the weather' and 'send text message' functions but also allows the syncing of your notifications from your Android device to your Windows 10 computer allowing you to reply to things like text messages from your desktop without picking up your phone, low battery alerts and fully synced reminders.
The app is rolling out now in stages over the next few days, so if it's saying not available in your country then it should show up soon - It now seems to be available to everyone as of 09/12/2016

MS have screwed up their own software and now they want to share their woeful wares with others. They are like a recent divorcee at a party drunk to the gills bothering everyone with their sad self obsessed stories whilst tying to pretend they aren't feeling isolated and on a downward spiral.

Valid point. I never used this on my Windows phone and don't on my Windows 10 desktop. Still, always good to have on my Sony Android if I need it

Which is no different to most apps available on Android, certainly as I have switched back from Windows phone to Android there is a multitude of apps that will not work unless you grant permissions.

All this clamor for voice control/activation.
Imagine the racket if everyone used their phone with speech commands? The noise in the office would be unbearable.

How is this an offer or a deal? Loads of software is free in the app stores. Anyway, I have a OnePlus One and it got Cortana in an update months ago. It absolutely caned my battery despite the fact that I never used it. It took a while to figure out how to remove it :-(

omg omg omg I love cortana we were parted earlier this year < have cried several times over her (this is true honest, I have restricted sight, and she helped me so much with texting) I miss her every day I want my old phone back but MS are moving away from phones,
This has propper cheered me up, I do not mind waiting as long as we are reunited

It's just shown up for me too and it's working well, my reminders have all synced ok but I wish when setting a reminder manually (not via voice) I could use 24hr time instead of AM and PM, app notification syncing is also working well, it's turned off by default and you can set which apps are synced (like how you do for a smart watch) WhatsApp messages are showing up in Action Centre and you can even reply to them from direct in Action Centre without pulling out your phone.

I use Sir I all the time. It is great for dictation, reminders, announcements, navigating the finder and other apps. It is usually very accurate. Being able to use it without activating the iPad is excellent.
It's a bit odd talking to a computer or tablet but once you (and others in the household) become accustomed it's really just like talking to a pet or a deaf aunt. I use enhanced Male British voice for feedback and reading web-pages aloud when my eyes get tired.

I've been getting the same message, it launched today but it's rolling out to everyone in stages over the next few days so will show up at different times for different people.
It doesn't, you need to have the app open to use the "Hey Cortana" 'feature', which is either good or bad depending on your stance on always listening features.

Interesting. I wonder if it will work better on Android, all the other MS products seem to be better on Android than on Windows Phone.
