What games will this be able to play? Are there decent games on the windows app store this can run, or what's the deal here?
"using the power of Windows 10 in-house streaming for PC, Steam and Xbox One games." - so it's a weak tablet that is meant for steam in-house streaming?
AndyBarney to Lahn

Based on the pictures from Argos, it would seem that you could play Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3 and Recore. It would require decent WiFi to play it smoothly but most people nowadays have reasonable internet speeds.

I have this for steam in home streaming from my PC (not tried yet) xbox streaming (works great) & a 128gb sd card for local install of steam for when I travel, can play games like Batman Arkham City, also installed Kodi (has micro HDMI out) and the battery is pretty good compared to my Nexus 9. Controller is not the most comfortable thing to hold. Bought it for £80 when it was on HUKD some time ago.

The tablet is wireless and would only require charging so I would class that as wireless would you not?
You don't need to have an iPad or Amazon Fire attached to the mains to use it.

you don't need fast internet.... you just need a good internal modem
doesn't matter how fast BT or virgin or whoever sends you the internet from external, just how fast the router you have is to send internal
if your router has AC then wow this might be really good. I connect my pc via Ethernet to get best steam streaming on my netbooks
wonder how good the controller is for games?
anyone can say eg xcom 2 or gta v? screen size probably too small but an idea

Wireless AC is a type of networking for increased Wi-Fi speeds, one step above wireless N. You'd need that for the network-hungry job of streaming a game through your wireless router. He didn't mean wireless alternating current :stuck_out_tongue:

I use this to stream the Xbox to. Quality is good, no lag. I've streamed FIFA, Battlefield 1 and my daughter has also played Minecraft on it. Controller takes a bit of getting used to, or if you're not far away from your Xbox, just use your Xbox controller, but you'll need to prop the tablet up with a case/stand.
Just a heads up anyone who gets one, -you'll need to do a few Windows updates before the Xbox app will work.

Streaming usually is done on the same network, meaning that you should be in the vicinity of your home or place where the Xbox is located and , yes you could pair a different controller with the tablet should you wish
Streaming over a the internet would not yet be stable , it could technically be achieved but its not advised

Other than the obvious 'hand controllers' bit, what is the other difference (if any at all?), between the OP's Deal, as opposed to that of regular LINX 8" Windows Tablet? (eg. like that of what was also featured via HUKD some months back, via Sainsbury's, for only £40 at the time, etc?).

Am I the only one who thinks it's a con that they advertise a 64bit CPU but then use a 32bit UEFI? Pointless otherwise without some kind of hack e.g. hackintosh style loaders.
AFAIK, besides maybe a minor upgrade e.g. improved CPU (haven't checked myself), this is very similar to the various tablets you can buy for less.
I would only really buy this if you are interested in the controller.
edit:
I believe the Linx8 includes 32GB emmc and 2GB RAM, others may half that though e.g. the recent ebuyer deal had 1GB RAM.

If you're running minecraft windows 10 edition directly on the tablet, 45-60 fps depending on the landscape. It hardly ever lags or stutters.

Been using one of these for a while. I love it. Plenty of games run natively and streaming xbox one to it is pretty easy over the same network. Screen quality isn't the best and the controller that comes with it is a bit awkward due to the analogue stick and ABXY buttons being swapped over. But get an OTG cable for a quid off ebay and you can plug your xbox controller in. Ideal for a bit rocket league on the go!

I have one of these, they pretty good as long as you have a good wifi connection speed. You can adjust the graphics if your speed is not really fast but then it looks pretty poor. If i remember rightly took me a while to figure out how to stream which is a bit annoying, it also relies on certain xbox one setting that i believe are not enabled on a child account by default. Has anyone had issues with the Sandisk memory cards? After reading the comments above about driver issues with windows updates, I'm debating whether to get the Sandisk that's on offer with the linx or a Samsung memory. Anyone experience this?

Yes there are definitely issues with 128GB Sandisk Cards, . I have the Sandisk which Argos bundles with this , it took me a while to work out how to get it working (without disconnects ) , thanks to the Follet at the Linxtablet forums .
However I strongly recommend getting the samsung Evo card , it is on sale atm HEREI have seen good things about this tablet working with the Samsung Evo Card and Samsung will perform better in any case .

I'm still managing to resist this somehow. If I didn't already have an Nvidia K1 then I would be all over it though.

Honestly, I would but it's difficult to justify owning two tablets and I'm quite attached to the K1. As an actual tablet platform I massively prefer Android over Windows as well.

Sorry for the slow reply.
I believe I tested it once (months ago) and it worked fine for me then. The ONLY problem I've hit with these is that during a new game character creation you have to type in your name. So either start a new char on a different pc and steam cloud the save over, or briefly use a bluetooth keyboard. Saying that I've not played much of FO:NV or Skyrim - am playing Civ and shadowrun mainly.
Edit: fixed "you'll to I've" and added detail about lack of play (concentrating on shadowrun)

Hi, just wondering did you use the included gamepad when playing portal 2? I have installed the game but the controller wont work. The controller is set to steam mode & I have chosen controller in the options menu in portal 2.

21 Dec 16#164
yeah used controller set on 360 mode sometimes you have to restart a game to get it to recognise it I had that today with assassin's creed 3 but it definitely works I finished, also some games won't load unless a mouse is connected a Bluetooth one works south park is one such game, once its loaded the mouse can be disconnected

I still quite like my Linx10 from a couple of years ago.
I read some reviews of this Vision and I have bitten!
Thanks for the heads up op.

A great way to game if rest of family want to watch tv or do something else - I play on this in the bedroom. A great tablet at a great price!

I wouldn't recommend it, the D-pad is more of a circle and it feels terrible to press. The controller as a whole is just cheaply made and feels awkward to use. I'm also having to get mine refunded as I was using it yesterday and the screen just died out of the blue.

Thanx for that, I had actually wondered about them things too actually. :-(
I've seen a load of these in Game Shop's on a regular, but ... (never got one though, as I was a little dubious of the whole 'everything' of it?)
That's cool. :-)

I bought two of these 'Linx Vision' gaming tablets and one of them set up fine despite the really looooong time it took to update. But once complete, it would stream gameplay from the XB1 perfectly.
The second unit however was a right PITA and would just not see the XB1 no matter what I did, so I followed someone's advice to do a factory reset.
Once the factory rest was complete, I let the Windows updates complete before trying to connect to the XB1 again and nada!
I spent the rest of Xmas day trying to sort this out and it was late in the day when I thought to compare the Windows 10 'Build Number' of the two units and discovered the second units build number was 10240 from July 2015.
So a quick look around the web and I came across articles that said you can use the 'Window 10 Media Creation Tool' to force the update.
The webpage I came across on the Microsoft website was: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
But there was no reason to 'Force' the update as at the top of the page there was a message stating: We noticed you are running Windows 10. If you would like to update to the latest version, click [b]Update now.
This message only shows up when using Windows 10 machine as when I tried with my Windows 7 PC, the message at the top is not there.
Once the update was complete and all the Windows 10 updates were applied (which took a very very long time), the second unit is now functioning properly!
My issue might have been a one-off, but if anyone is having the same issue, then this works great.
Thanks. I feared as much. If only someone would make an x86 phone

After having this for months and trying hard to get along with it, I can confirm it's just not worth it. The controls are useless for anything other than racing games I have fiber and the thing still struggles to stream steady, It's a low resolution screen very low! it can stream steam it can also play basic games straight off it ie left for dead 2, it can also stream ps4 but I wouldn't bother. The windows 10 installed struggles to work correctly if you leave the device on for more than a week you basically need to do a hard rebbot of the system. Stick to streaming your xbox one your laptop.

I am really enjoying mine. Streams xbox perfectly, barely any lag. I am also playing pc games downloaded directly on device ( via steam) so far i have been playing Skyrim, Portal 1 & 2, Dirt 3. The tablet does struggle with ps4 remote play there is too much lag to play anything that requires quick response.

"using the power of Windows 10 in-house streaming for PC, Steam and Xbox One games." - so it's a weak tablet that is meant for steam in-house streaming?
Update: According to the Linx website, the specs include Wireless AC. Fill yer boots!
The tablet is wireless and would only require charging so I would class that as wireless would you not?
You don't need to have an iPad or Amazon Fire attached to the mains to use it.
doesn't matter how fast BT or virgin or whoever sends you the internet from external, just how fast the router you have is to send internal
if your router has AC then wow this might be really good. I connect my pc via Ethernet to get best steam streaming on my netbooks
wonder how good the controller is for games?
anyone can say eg xcom 2 or gta v? screen size probably too small but an idea
with joypad attachment:
Skyrim (potato mod)
Fallout NV
Geometry wars 3
just touchscreen:
Civ BE
shadowrun returns
Just a heads up anyone who gets one, -you'll need to do a few Windows updates before the Xbox app will work.
Ive watched some youtube videos but its not covering it.
Seriously tempted for my son - but im not sure he could use the controller on the device.
Also could this be used for roblox? Thanks
Streaming over a the internet would not yet be stable , it could technically be achieved but its not advised
It can natively game also , there is an unexhausted list of supported (tried and tested ) games here

Thanx.
The extra 1GB is actually important (as I've personally discovered on different LINX Tablet's I own already, and the 'window' between 1GB RAM, & 2GB is vast!, like that of between a Pond & a River?, or an Ocean & a Sea?, or something ..... hehehe), thanx. :-)
So, unless your bouncing the Minecraft via a Nvada Shield or something?, then .....
No idea about the FIFA mind? (as it's wayyy more 'limited' as far as it's resource dependencies are concerned?, so, I'm guessing so? (but who knows?). :-)
The question section on that page also mentions Minecraft:
"What kind of frame rate do you get playing pc minecraft
asked by Joe on 28 Mar. 2016
If you're running minecraft windows 10 edition directly on the tablet, 45-60 fps depending on the landscape. It hardly ever lags or stutters.
Shinkamui answered on 29 July 2016
if you're running the pc version natively you can expect about 30 fps
Jack W. answered on 14 Aug. 2016"
ANNIVERSARY (windows 10 updates) KILLING LINX VISION
I would suggest only buying this if you have at least one person who is tech savvy , as this product does require some tinkering to get it to perform well
Make sure you all head over to hereTO THE OFFICIAL LINX TABLET FORUMS CLICK HERE, to research this and other things such as SD card compatibiltiy , games list and other tweaks
Again only buy this if at least one of you has a good grasp of Windows and has some basic knowledge . I could imagine this being a nightmare for the less tech savvy. That said ,this is a stunning bit of kit for the price
Like THIS for £74.99!
I have the same card , got it bundled with this deal , it is also dismounting from time to time , going through the tweaks now
Personally, I find just as may yoofs and those up into the late twenties just haven't got a clue how to lets say 'administer' bits of kit.
Too busy on Facebook, Instagram etc...........oh and HUKD:D
How does it actually work in terms of installing games natively to the device and running them?
Also does it have PS4 Remote Play?
2 years ago, I paid less for the Linx 10, and it is still going strong.
On the upside, it does run a fair few older titles.
Works perfectly fine although I had some epic problems with the initial windows updates. Controller feels a little weird to begin with but doesn't take long to adapt.Oh, and battery life is not spiffing either, which I'm sure Apple Fanboys will have pointed out.
That's rather presumptuous isn't it ,I am not affiliated by Linx in any way, there are genuine people out there that like to help others you know - Don't shoot the messenger , I am just directing those who will likely require some tech support . However it would be nice to see a greater community behind this device
Kerbal space program
loads of indie games on Steam.
Don't have to keep playing stupid freemium games that ruin your pocket.
Anyone buying for kids for Xmas really needs to take it out of the box and spend a good day getting it working. Otherwise there maybe tantrums.
Brilliant for streaming on, and i actually think the controller is very good. Have been impressed with this piece of kit.
Also not sure about some of the comments about screen being terrible because its not full HD. Not noticed any problems and everything has been clear.
Thanks
