I have one of these. Looks good with HD content but not great with SD. Also is rubbish when watching football. very bad motion blur on the ball moving around.

Just a heads up that the title is correct when it states 43". The specs have been copied from the 49" version but I assume they are the same?

Not 4K, more like Faux-K with the RGBW structure. What's this you ask? Read below link and stay away from this LG fakery...
Just got this LG 43" two days ago, and can say this TV is everything I expected it to be. The colors are crisp and true.

For all the nit-picking on that link, these screens are a huge step up on FHD.
I cannot comment on this models upscaling, but my older LG is excellent at upscaling, far better than any other 4K TV we looked at before buying; even the old 1970s TV series MASH looks like it was recorded last week.

Ok I will qualify that statement for those who need it. Its ok with HD content but in comparison to other 4k TV's such as Hisense \ Samsungs that I have also seen , this one is not as good with displaying SD content as those other makes. I would assume that this is because the other brands have a better way of upscaling their SD content

Manage to get the LG 43UH661V for £357.** on the black Friday deals with JL partnership discount. Luckily reserved the last one in store at Stratford. Still closed box, and thinking whether to keep it or not... Any suggestions or thought on this?

I've just bought a 49" 4k tv. I've been watching 4K content through netflix and youtube and TBH I can barely tell the difference from standard HD. Can't imagine you'd tell at all with this size. Go look at one 1st.

Looked at this today in Tesco along side a Samsung a similar kind of price and the colours were not as good in dark light situations, they were both showing the same content but on some of the scenes I could not make out what the LG should be displaying, no such issue on the Samsung Curved screen, maybe just needed some tweaking on the LG but at face value the Samsung won hands down

Be very careful with this TV - as mentioned it uses a weird subpixel arrangement designed to cut cost while still giving them the right to advertise "4k" when realistically it isn't.
Also, if you use your TV in a dark environment or are sensitive to "not very black" blacks, go with something that uses a VA panel or VA-like panel such as Samsung or Hisense, or if you can afford, an OLED panel.

I'm after a new telly to replace my (ahem...) 12 year old 32" Panasonic CRT.
We watch normal TV, films and motorsport. The reviews above say that this TV isn't any good but is it just specifics or is it really not worth bothering with?
Let's face it, ~40" TVs are dirt cheap, so is it better to spend another £100 and get something better?
What are the best 40" TVs on the market at the moment (especially in John Lewis as it's a mile from my house and I like to buy all my electricals from there due to warranty and lack of bother if there are any problems)
