Lenovo Z50 15.6 Inch AMD FX7500 8GB 1TB Laptop - Black
remember this was hot months ago on Amazon warehouse deal at 229 I think.
This is brand new at 249.
I had been looking at entry level around 200 - this has AMD R7 graphics which is perfect for me (tested with old Call of Duty & Counter Strike source so far and runs fine).
Quite fairly quick so far so good.

Hi, can you tell us if it is FHD screen or 1366x768 as it sounds like you've already got it up and running. As said earlier in the thread, there has been some confusion over the screen quality

Seems strange considering you can get 4k tvs so cheap and you can't even get 1080p laptops.
PsychoSonny to Jonnyblock
27 Dec 16#16
are you seriously comparing cheap crappy 4k panels to laptops? a decent 4k tv is around £700-£800 for a 40-43 inch. when you start moving up to 55 inch a decent 4k tv is around £1500-£2500.
basically you cannot complain about a cheap laptop or compare it to a cheap tv screen. i know the tv i want isn't cheap being a 4k OLED. i could buy 20 of these laptops for instance for 1 tv

I have got this laptop, surprisingly snappy cpu, far better than I expected from ulv. Also the speakers are worth mentioning - very good. The rest of it is very 'budgety' but absolutely fine at this price point. Not for gaming though, well optimised diablo 3 is jerky as hell @ even low settings.

I bought this on Prime Day from Amazon back in the summer for £269.99 and I've been very happy with it. It IS full HD, but it's optional and you have to enable it in the AMD settings.
Right click>AMD Radon Settings>Display>Set Virtual Super Resolution ON
You then right-click on the desktop and go to display settings/advanced display settings and set it to 1920 x 1080.
brookheather to Futureal
28 Dec 161#35
Errr you do know what Virtual Super Resolution is - right? It simply renders the game at a higher resolution and then scales it back down to the native resolution which in this case is 1366x768 - the laptop does NOT have a 1920 x 1080 screen.
Whatever the technicalities may be, the option to have the display at 1920 x 1080 IS there. It's debatable whether they should advertise it as 'Full HD', yes.
The display quality is good, and this is an excellent laptop for £250. I use mine mostly for music production and am really happy with it. My last one for this purpose was an HP Pavilion with very similar specs that I bought mid-2015 - it felt like a toy compared to this one. It's well-made and nice and light.

Battery is removable. Not a big capacity (4 cells I think) but absolutely fine with the ulv CPU - 3-4 hours of browsing with a reasonable screen brightness. Fine for basic multitasking, Word is not heavy on resources so YouTube in the background doesn't cause much problems. As I said before, I was genuinely impressed with the CPU - a proper processor, nothing similar to struggles you may face using Atoms or soldered to mobo pentiums J or N. Certainly useable and worth the money. My only dislike is the colour reproduction on the screen but you can't have everything for £250.
A very good budget notebook.
