Thanks OP, been looking for a new tablet for the wife for a while.
She's normally satisfied with a 7 incher, but I think that an 8 incher will put an extra glint in her eye.

For the £, I'd say its hot as its got 2GB Ram & Android 6. Just annoying they don't sell a FHD version for £100.

Yes, just ask for a return and take it to a click and collect shop .. if it's faulty, you do not have to accept a replacement and are entitled to a refund, otherwise, I think, they charge a restocking fee.

2 Dec 161#13
The 7 inch in this deal is only 8GB, so the Amazon deal is only £10 more for a 16GB one.
Still only 1GB RAM though.
I decided to go for the 2GB version.

Does the 8inch model have a (micro)HDMI port?
It not is there any other 7 or 8" Android 6 tablet out there with 2GB RAM and HDMI port?
Also its available for £5 less on Argos refurbished site. Ok its only a fiver and not worth the saving if buying as a gift but if its for yourself these are generally as good as new just open box, so by the time you have opened the box you may as well save the fiver.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lenovo-Tab-3-A8-8-Inch-LED-1GHz-2GB-16GB-Android-6-Tablet-Black-From-Argos-/361693884255

Your Lenovo/Argos link states only 1.0GHz (as opposed to 1.3-1.5GGz?), as well as mentioning 16GB of eMMC storage (as opposed to the only 8GB eMMC storage it really rather has?).

That wouldn't surprise me. Mine died literally two weeks after warranty, although to Tesco's credit they still gave me a partial refund despite just falling out of warranty..
I'll be honest, I didn't get the love for it. It had responsiveness issues and I ended up having to download a touch sensitivity app and remove the screen protector altogether. It also kept crashing and locking up.
When it worked, performance was mediocre. I certainly wouldn't go back to it.

The reviews are generally positive.
Some have complained about it being a little laggy, but those people don't seem to factor in that it's an £80 product and that they aren't going to get something that performs like a brand new top of the range device.
Plus it has 2GB of RAM which in my opinion makes a world of difference. Similarly priced Android tablets have only 1GB of RAM and I'd never touch them.
