The annoying thing about subscribe and save is that the price never remains the same. It constantly goes up.

I think that's the whole point of it though.
I've never not cancelled a subscribe and save item after the first purchase. I'm really glad they offer the service. It saves me 15% every month.
While on the subject of S&S. This lavazza coffee has an offer of 10% off if buying 6 or more. I tried adding 6 to subscribe and save but no 10% discount appeared

I'm new to using beans. How quickly do you have to use the beans after opening a bag?
I'm thinking that a 1kg might take me too long before they go off.

Head on over to http://coffeegeek.com/ for lots of heated 'discussions' on this very topic. Some reckon you can freeze beans without affecting the taste, personally I don't agree. I keep my beans in an airtight Kilner jar but given my severe coffee affliction 500gm doesn't last very long. There are better quality beans around, these are a blend of Arabica and Robusta rather than pure Arabica. Good price though

My coffee machine can hold 500g of beans (and keep it fresh). The other 500g I put in a vacuum container (link below). Works wonders. You just have to keep it out of sunlight and in a cool place. I keep mine in a cupboard.
For me, I really like Illy beans, but they can be quite expensive (for me). So I only get them when on offer. As an everyday bean I use Lavazza Espresso (Black bag). Not a fan of the Rossa.
