Pretty sure you have to pay the price on the day you collect for reservations. It's different if you buy online for collection but that took longer and my first choice store went OOS as I was trying to do it the first time.

Just to let you know I've managed to get to argos Bangor, to collect my £49.99 reservation.

Pay terminal showing it was now £149.99 (spot the original COSTLY argos typo).

Thankfully I spoke to a helpful bloke there (staff) who said pay at till and tell them to honour the price in the email confirmation!

I'm guessing the refill stock will be at the "correct" £ 149.99 though...

I bought one from Swindon earlier via the Argos Ebay site. Make sure you have your postcode saved and when the options to either "Buy it now" or "Add to basket" are available, click on one of them. It will then show you if there is stock in the surrounding area. It took me two days of refreshing (not constantly as I would have been very tired) but eventually I got one, paid for it and will collect in the morning. I hope you get one too.

I then found another a lot nearer which means I can collect in store. How can they cancel if money has been taken? Surely they have entered into a contract to sell at the agreed price if money has been exchanged. If people have paid on eBay the payment is taken straight away.

If you're having trouble with going today you can extend your reservation for a few days (phoned Argos and asked if I could pay over the phone, even to arrange delivery - all they could do is extend it).

Mine is quite far from me and I can't get a lift (that and I imagine the box is humungous - probably too big for public transport) so I'll go tomorrow.

Re reservations that have price changes afterwards - Argos are fine with this, had to mention this to a manager in the past. Usually I have a confirmation email stating the price, but this time I reserved over the phone.

opened the box and its such a good quality package. its kind of cute and dinky compared to the Chef and Major, the K-hook appears half the size for example lol so my mum will probably laugh at it but overall this package is a steal...a very nice one at that.

higher power motor on these compared to the entry Chef and the arty looking models also and equal the bigger Chef Premier. hope it has the torque for thicker dough like chapatti's etc.

Can any of you help?? Just travelled to Paisley with my brother and been told this is £149.99 and has been since Monday or so!

I booked my reservation over the phone on Friday night and the automated system definitely said £49.99!

I phoned Argos CS on Saturday and asked them to extend the reservation so I could get a lift over the coming days.

On Saturday I checked the phone reservation system (to see if I could get a Glasgow store) - sure enough, the price had went up by £100. But I was safe in the knowledge that I'd reserved on Friday at £49.99 - the system told me so, right?

Got to the store and they were adamant that the Argos in store price hasn't been £49.99 since Monday or so!

They won't budge. I have no physical proof that the price reserved was £49.99 (usually if you reserve the conventional way you get a confirmation email stating the price). I imagine they think I'm just making it up to get it cheaper (?).

Showed them the HUKD thread - "Argos ebay is a third party site" they said, and they weren't interested in reading the comments.

What do I do? I've got a reservation I can't pick up!

I've never done a phone reservation before, but all I can suggest is to ring Argos customer services, the problem is that you have no proof and chances are you won't be able to get them to honour it.

The woman did look at the price history on a computer screen (in the Paisley store) and said it hadn't been £49.99 since around the 1st!

Don't go by their one check the ones on shop floor, they defo showed £49.99 yesterday as I checked whilst collecting mine.

The price went up by £100 yesterday, I know that for sure as I tried Glasgow stores via the phone reservation system (to see if I could save my brother the journey).

So checking the (customer) instore screens wouldn't provide proof, I don't think.

It's got to be worth a try? What have you got to lose, I checked at 4.30 last night and in store was showing reduced price still but no stock.

Just had a chat with their phone Customer Services.

The online price history at their end confirms it hasn't been £49.99 since the 1st of December - "a Black Friday special" the guy told me.

He said there's no other way of checking. They can't extend the reservation any longer than the 5th. I can contact Head Office but they don't have a phone number (!) and I have to email them instead.

Live Chat still say that the "out of stock price is £49.99 but when in stock it's £199.99" (made a mistake, I assumed it was £149.99 but I knew the price had went up as of yesterday on the Argos website link).

Sent Head Office an email with screen captures of my reservation text, the Argos.co.uk and Argos ebay cached pages from the 2nd Dec at £49.99 and a few links to this thread confirming members have picked theirs up. Not much more I can do!

My friend just messaged me, she managed to pick up my Croydon reservation for herself with no problems!

GUYS I have to take back what I said about my friend having no problems! (She didn't have any problems in store itself, collecting it was all straightforward) BUT she has just opened hers and the spatula has dried chocolate cake batter on it & a missing mincer blade..clearly a return (surely Argos should have checked it for hygiene reasons as it is a food prep machine) so make sure if your box did not come wrapped all around in a plastic wrap that you check the contents before wrapping it up for xmas day if giving as a gift!!

That is outrageous - I have never had problems with a reservation price before! There are numerous people on this thread that have bought this for £49.99, yet I can't?!

I understand that it's "at the discretion of store staff" but I have proven the price was £49.99 on the 2nd December - others are able to buy it - except me?!

I can't even phone anyone as there's no contact number. The call centre just tells me to email - but I'm going to phone them back.

Phoned the call centre - the guy was lovely, but he can't do any more. He said the reservation number I quoted comes up on his system as "£0.00" and he has no idea what that means, he's never seen that before! It's also an "order type" he's never seen on the system. Not sure what's happening there.

Again, Argos CS' price history last shows £49.99 on the 1st December. I told him about the Google cached Argos.co.uk and Argos ebay listings from the 2nd, various HUKD members picking their items up with no problems...

I checked my local store on friday afternoon when I went out for lunch and was able to reserve one in a nearby store at the reduced price. I collected the same evening and although the price had increased to £149.99 the lovely lady in on the till spoke to the manager and was able to reduce to £49.99 without quibble.

Typical that I get staff members with the "we don't believe you and you're trying your luck" attitudes!

At least you didn't get as bad as I have heard before. A few years ago my sister told me of an Argos price glitch that was posted on one of her groups, I think it was a kids toy, or maybe a skateboard or bike or something, can't quite remember. Anyway someone went into an Argos store and the till staff called out the manager who basically treated them like a thief. Saying something like you knew that was a price glitch and human error and tried to con us out of it anyway, you should be ashamed. Made the person feel really bad (it would anyone) in front of a store of people. Utter disgraceful behaviour. Other people were getting mixed responses from store managers, some would honour the price, others called head office to get told it was managers discretion to honour. I think around half were getting honoured and most of the rest were just getting a "sorry, we can't honour that price as it is less than we pay" sort of response but that one was just horrible.

Not looking good for me, then. I'm hardly going to travel 20 minutes there and back just to "con" them. The Argos staff in Glasgow are great - they barely even look at my reservation email if I query a price and put it through no problem.

Maybe big ticket items get treated differently, depending on staff's discretion. I don't like this approach - where rules vary from store to store, it should be consistent.

This will also apply if your reservation is extended but not if the reservation collection window has expired.

Proof of reservation would include: -

Reservation Number
Print out from the internet
Text message/email showing reservation number

No, I didn't travel to the store, it's a long-ish trip, I need extra transport from Glasgow and was still chasing it up via their call centre up till about 8pm (closes at 9pm).

Argos' voicemail at 7pm did NOT make it clear what the Reserve Price Guarantee price actually was - I wanted to get my facts right first - asked them to phone the manager.

He still insists the price on the 2nd is £149.99 and that's the price he'll sell it for. He can't extend the reservation or hold it for me. Imagine if I'd travelled all the way to be told that! I'd have blown a gasket! (And I am quite mild mannered usually!)

Basically hours of phone calls, emails to different departments (even complaining on Twitter) and I'm in the same position as yesterday!

I must really love my sister! I am only interested in hearing from Argos if they can say YES you can pick it up for £49.99.

Ultimately it's down to the manager at Paisley, seems he won't budge, the reservation has expired now. First I've heard of the excuse "pricing error"! Nobody seems to know what they're doing!

Reserved it again till Wednesday - what can I say, I'm a glutton for punishment! I'll email Argos Head Office - I can only hope :innocent:

Louise you already have price history.. You could also take a screenshot of any others who have collected the order .. Which would show the price. Looks like it's more down to the manager.. I feel so sorry for you..

Louise, is it the one that is in a small retail park beside a boots (I think) if so the manager in there is horrible, I made a complaint about the manager in that one due to the treatment of myself when I went to collect an item that had a £5 voucher due and she treated me like a thief because she had to manually do it after H/O told her to! I would rather never shop in Argos again the use that store. I really do feel for you.

Not really, probably a little more than £20 at reasonable fuel economy.

That sounds about right, worth it for this but I would have been worried about getting there and the manager refusing to honour it after that long drive.

Don't know Paisley that well - it's surrounded by lots of car showrooms and there is a small-ish retail park there, didn't get to explore as we were in a rush!

There's another Paisley store but I'm guessing it's more of an urban/shopping centre type store. I'm being rather sexist assuming the manager is a He - woops - haven't had any encounters with Her - yet. No replies from Argos today so far. Let's see what today brings.

Sounds like Linwood retail park which is a different one from what I experienced the horrible manager in, it's such a shame as some of them act like it's them personally giving you the discount!

This is the first time I heard the term "pricing error" used!

I've emailed Head Office (their first response yesterday said: "Unfortunately when you place a reservation you are reserving the item and not the price of the item. Argos prices are subject to change therefore the price advertised on the day of collection, is the price you can purchase it for."
- then hours later they emailed saying this was wrong and there is a Reserve Price Guarantee (mentioned in their voicemail at 7pm last night - but they also emailed this more in-depth):
"...we do offer a reserved price guarantee. This means that if you reserve an item whilst it is on a promotion and the price returns to the original price during the reservation period, we do honour the promotional price. As the advisor in store is not prompted that this item was a different price, we rely on our customer's (their superfluous apostrophe, not mine :stuck_out_tongue:) to notify us of any price increase. Please return to store with your receipt." (as the system showed the reservation as £0.00 they seem to assume I had already paid for it!)

Also emailed the CEOs, no reply as yet. Only other avenue is Facebook I think. Phoned their call centre about five times now, each time they say they can't escalate it and they can't connect me to Head Office.

Thought someone would email or phone after yesterday's emails from me (had to go out earlier this evening), nothing. I have the item reserved till tomorrow again. Think they're just hoping I go away!

If Argos hadn't phoned me at 7pm on Monday night saying "Sorry, we made a mistake, we have a Reserve Price Guarantee" - they'd have heard no more from me.

I'm being ignored. I'll keep watching Tesco - would be better to get it from there anyway - no long trip, pick up from store and cheaper too!

The manager must hate my guts, haha, that's a few times he/she has been contacted now. Argos doesn't mention why so many people on this thread got it for £49.99. Anyway, Argos, I gave up ages ago.

The original reservation was extended but they left me a contradictory voice message - with under 2 hours to pick it up - mentioning this mysterious Reserved Price Guarantee. They've handled this appallingly.

It seems I am going to cancel mine. I ordered last one from Harlow last Saturday but I couldn't go there to pick it up. It will expire today at 6pm.

Message Louise, she might still be interested... could arrange a courier to pick it up from store.

Too late, I asked someone to pick it up for me but I he didn't. I found out that he didn't go there just one hour before deadline. The deadline was today at 6 pm.
