While you may get the games at Scan there is a strong possibility that Amazon will give them too as i ordered a 970 before without any game code expectation but was still given MGS code.
And Scan charge £11 for delivery and i guarantee will not have as good customer service

It's more than enough, an i5 with onboard graphics would be enough to still play 1080p

Delivery is 5.48 not 11, never had a major issue with scan, have rma'd a few things and ordered a lot never had a issue really, amazon aren't what they were, if you want the guarantee of the games scan is the one to go for IMO

Yeah, go Amazon for the hassle free CS. Their RMA service is OK but you can have quite a bit of issues sometimes.

I would just like to add that Scan may charge for delivery but their customer service is unparallel from any electronics seller. Their customer support actually knows their own products through and through and can give good advice as well. I would not trust ordering any critical compenonents from anyone else than Scan. The same cannot be said for an Amazon support whom doesn't understand the difference between consumer HDD and enterprise HDD.

is there any point upgrading to this from an i7 3770k?
MBeeching to shahidali47
9 Dec 161#28
Not really, you would need a new motherboard and RAM so it's over £500 for a moderate speed increase (games aren't making much use of the newer hardware). The CPU market is so painfully stagnant I wouldn't really consider any upgrade unless I had a model below an i5 3570k, though it would be nice to get a new board with features like an M2 slot.

6 cores but running slower than the 6700K and its broadwell so unless you have a use for 6 cores, is it not better to go with the skylake 6700K? I run my 6700K at 4.7 GHz stable at low voltage all day, I tried to push it some more today as its freezing in my office ended up taking a fan off the cooler instead:-)

The maximus 8 hero is a z170 motherboard and supports i7-6700k or lower
The 6800k requires a x99 motherboard

Had the upgrade itch for a while but to be honest, I think I'll see another 2 years out of my 3570k yet. I've gone from a 670 to 970 in that time so I'll probably end up with a 1070 or the following series. Prices are not kind to us at the moment, only upside is resale values are high too!

Prices might fall when Zen and Kabylake come out? Why buy this now? Seems quite expensive. 1 month wait for the new chips. Albeit the only reason kabylake is faster is due to 0.3ghz gain in speed.

AMD are doing a big event tonight to show off a ZEN gaming machine. (America CST time) Live broadcast on their website. Should be interesting to see how it matches up to Intel chips.
