Tickets for the Humber Street Sesh are on an early bird special. I understand that this is not for everyone as it is in Hull. But for £5 to get the opportunity to see lots of bands and art I don't think you can go too wrong.
Normal pre-event tickets are £10 and on the day £15 each.
As Hull will be UK City of culture 2017 this should be an extra special event which is held on the 5th August 2017.
I have been for the last few years and it is a great atmosphere and some great bands for the whole family.
Under 12's are free when accompanied by an adult.

They're not usually £15 on the day! The prices for this are higher every year :-(

From memory it was £8 last year and £12 on the day. So yes prices have gone up.

Parts of Hull are a dump, parts of every other city in the world are dumps too. Either help to improve it, whine and be no better than part of the problem or leave on the search for the mythical perfect city.

What kind of music do they have? What kind of bands/artists?
It's local bands and artists mostly but Hull has a wealth of talent in that department, bands like Black Delta Movement and End of level Badie usually headline the main stage if you want to YouTube their stuff, elsewhere there's usually a dance/dj tent, spoken word, acoustic, ska performance. for the cost it's a cracking day for any lovers of music really.

I may be (and probably am) bias, its a great place to visit. Plenty to do with plenty of free museums and lots of things to do and see. There are trains direct from London...
It is a long way just for this I will agree but a long weekend with this and other things included would be fun too.
