A few deals on the i7 version of the G5 but couldn't find a deal for the i5 other than when it was £399 with a free 8" tablet worth £40 (now expired). For those who don't want or need a tablet you can get the laptop for £50 less. I thought it was a fairly decent spec for the money (note: no dvd drive). I'd prefer Windows 7 too rather than W10

This looks great but I just wish it was smaller and lighter though! I'm having a really hard time finding something light that has the power and speed of this type of laptop :disappointed:

Snap, weight isn't too bad compared to others as it's under 2kg. The screen is a bit of a let down though as it's 1366 x 768 but for this money it's not a bad buy for some.

Been keeping an eye on this for a while and tempted but the no Full HD worries me. The i3 that is about here for approx 300 quid with 4gb 256 SSD with full HD is what I'm also considering. How is the screen on this?

I have a laptop with a 1366 x 768 screen, and I strongly recommend getting something better. I only use mine occasionally, but it would drive me mad if it were my main computer.

I just bought this laptop and the screen quality isn't fantastic. The colour is not comparable to say, the Lenovo 310. The picture seems overly bright which doesn't improve when you play with the settings. Part of the problem may be a lack of a dedicated gpu. The laptop is fast though. And good price for the specs. Ssd makes a huge difference and for doing office based work it's very suitable.

Nothing wrong with ebuyer, just avoid any product from HP, 10 years IT experience, that's all

Completely agree with this, (25 years IT). HP used to be a great company when it just did printers and mid-range computers.

I'm looking for a laptop around this spec, my last one has just died. Probably will need to purchase within the next 2 weeks. I'd prefer amazon as i have vouchers but i'll end up using them anyway so its not essential. Is the screen really that noticeable? I am to use it mainly for watching netflix and movies, maybe the occasional game of civ V. Worth purchasing or should i wait?

It's now 30 quid cheaper. Don't worry too much once you've been using a full HD IPS screen these things are noticeable, but it's not a big issue

Mine appears fine. I think it's all about expectations at this sort of pricepoint. No, viewing angles aren't excellent so you really need to be viewing pretty straight, but then that's true for probably all screens at this price.
I tried with W10, I really did. But the lack of customisation of the 'all apps' in the Start menu bugged me beyond belief. You can remove some of the entries via PowerShell tweaks, but not all..... and there's no drag & drop 'All Programs' on the start menu as per W7. Other than that, W10 is ok.......once you've uninstalled all the sh1t that comes pre-installed, and been utterly ruthless in the set up privacy settings (basically decline/not allow everything unless you absolutely need/want that feature.
In the end I installed Classic Shell which brings back the tweakability of All Programs like in W7 start menu. This is more than a good compromise to me keeping W10 & not installing a cracked W7 on the machine instead (which was an initial intention).
It boots to the point of you doing stuff in less than 15 seconds, and shuts down in less than 5s. The OS is very responsive - the SSD is an m.2 variety - not a standard 2.5" drive. It's actually a Samsung CM871a 256GB if you're interested specifically.

So whats wrong with HP these days? Im not looking for a laptop to last forever just 2 or 3 years as i like to try upgrade about then, why would this be a bad idea? Many thanks

Personally I've never been impressed with HP for their laptops, I've always thought other manufacturers built better. With that said I haven't bought HP or dealt with HP for a few years because of previous issues.
For the money this laptop is a great deal, you will have at least a years warranty but see if you can find somebody offering more. A lot of people on here moan about Ebuyer but I haven't had an issue with them before.
This may be an alternative if you are put off by Ebuyer.
So essnetially If you need a laptop for around this money then it's a great deal. The extra warranty or supplier may be a good route if you can find one.

been looking for a new laptop for general use and to play a few older games after doing my research a SSD is well worth the extra money. been looking for near on 4 weeks and I failed to find a better deal than this no HD screen is fine as it's still going to give a good image. Thank you very much for posting! Has anyone else actually ordered one and if so how you finding it?

Hi yeah I just got this laptop, it has a cheap feel, but is surprizing light. Only downside is the battery life is horrendeous of 3-4 hours, considering its i5 and ssd, :disappointed:

Got it for 398. On 2nd day of using for few hours cooling FAN started buzzing/vibrating. Looks like mechanical issue, bend blade or sth inside, fan is hitting sth inside. I`m very disappointed. Will call them to get refund under 14 days return policy.
Is it only me who got that issue?
