Hi,
The manual is a bit confusing about which side of the pipe to connect to but I figured it out myself and it is working.
1. You have to tilt the unit to the right hand side (front of unit facing you) as illustrated in the manual.
2. Underneath the front left side you will see tho pipes connected to each other.
3. Keep the coupler in the ribbon hose and disconnect it from the hose going up to feed the container (be careful not to damage it).
4. Connect the black hose provided to the coupler.
5. Install the little clear cap provided to block the disconnected hose.
6. Connect the other end of the black hose to the drain.
7. Enjoy!
PS: Or if you keep the condensed water it can be used in the iron or for cleaning... as it is limescale free.

Does anyone else's get "stuck" at 5 mins remaining. Not sure whether to have an engineer out to look?
little_landy

The same happened on the program I mentioned above stuck on 5 mins for ages, I'll just be using the timer setting from now on

I'm not sure which settings have the sensor, I just did a load on the cupboard dry setting and it was still damp so had to give it an extra 40 minutes!

little_landy... can you try the All Towels programme, that is sensor and took ages on mine, and shows 5 mins remaining but goes on for like an hour or so after...
little_landy
9 Apr 17#173
So which programs use the sensor then? Could this explain why programs are longer than expected
throwawaysociety
9 Apr 17#172
It is sensor drying
Innovative drying technology
Using heat pump technology, this modern dryer constantly recycles hot air within the drum without losing heat or wasting energy. This model also features 4 sensor drying programmes, which monitor the moisture level of your clothes and automatically end the cycle when your load is perfectly dry.

Hadn't tried any programs before, but after reading the timer issues above I have put a load on the store dry setting, 2.5 hrs at the start of the program however it's been on for 3.15 already and still shows 56 mins left. Is this a sensor machine ? Could that explain the difference

You need to get them out by the sound of it and don't leave the dryer on if no one is home as it could over heat if the timer doesn't stop when it's supposed to.

I got an email from JL today detailing the 2 yr guarantee. I've found the timer to be quite strange, sometimes it doesn't seem to go down as quickly as it should, but the dryer beeps when it should. I've found a small load dries far quicker than the timer suggest sometimes so it's worth checking just to make sure it is actually still wet

Not been charged as of yet, my card that I used has since expired so not sure what happens if they try to charge it.
I am concerned mine is faulty, a small "All Towels" cycle load of 2 x tea towels, 1 x bed sheet and 1 x bath towel I kicked off at 11am. It estimated 3 hours on the display for the cycle. Anyway, at around 5pm it said it had 5 mins to go, but didn't actually finish until about 6pm (seemed to say 5 mins left on the display for an hour or so). So it took at least 6 hours to dry a very small load. It seems to get stuck at 5 mins remaining on the "All Towels" cycle, but does eventually finish perhaps an hour or so later.
What is everyone elses experience.

Anyone having issues with the timer? On first run the timer stuck 20 minutes before the full cycle period though dryer seemed working ok so I manually off the dryer. I used it yesterday for the second time and same issue happened again this time the timer stuck at 1 hour 41 minutes though the program I used was hang dry of 2 hour 30 minutes :disappointed: So it seem the timer is stopping at some random time.

I thought the same about the build quality when mine came very plasticy feel, time will tell....
monsavr
23 Feb 17#156
Really consider to be a poor build. The top seems very flimsy, no spring to open the door, and the locking mechanism (on the door) is plastic and so is the bit (the bit on the main machine) that the door lock conects to. It seems it may well break in due course due to waer and tear. Other than that it does seem good. Did expect a better build for a machine that costs around just over the £400 mark (at many other reatil outlets).

The Mrs rang up to chase up the 'processing' on the order (Something I usually discourage about potential misprices etc) and the people in the call centre said that the order is still going ahead, it wasn't cancelled, but because the order is coming directly from Hoover they are waiting for them to complete the next step which will be to deliver by the end of February. As echoed by a previous post they will ring closer to the date to confirm a delivery date and time.

I had s Bosch that lasted 8 years, may buy another if this gets cancelled.
I just tested and the GET20 code still works, but the cashback from TCB will only be 1.1% because a voucher would've been used.
I just tested the get20 code on the cheapest heat pump tumble dryer on the site (Candy Grand'O Vita GVHD913A2 Heat Pump Tumble Dryer - White) and it took £20 off that too...
As for the really expensive tumble dryers, I would be quite willing to pay for them if they had 10 year long guarantees and the energy savings would make the purchase justifiable, but all the tumble dryers I've had have broken down after about 5 years!
getmore4less
3 Jan 17#67
another energy use is the stand by/off consumption (included in the annual costs)
the machine will be in these states most of the time on some machines this will be over 5kw per year..
anyone interested in the gory details of tumble dryer energy labels and how they are measuered.
Assuming JL can actually get the stock, I would expect they will honour the price on this.

I wonder if that may be based upon a full load and the Bosch has a smaller drum which means it will naturally take less time to dry the clothes. A 10KG drum is the largest you can buy I think
ukmonkey
31 Dec 16#51
I see , but what is the price of the Bosch one you are comparing??
kabs
31 Dec 16#50
It's a same tech heat pump comparison not heat pump vs condenser. The Hoover has a 5hrs drying time as opposed to the Bosch which has around 2.6hrs. The energy figures are taken from average of various loads and programs, I'm just wondering the Hoover will use considerably more energy in real use than the figures suggest.
ukmonkey
31 Dec 16#49
The heat pump pumps it back in to the dryer instead of out the back so it's more efficient, I think !
kabs
31 Dec 16#48
Any of you guys know about energy labels, can't seem to get my head round their 305 min/cycle and 282kWh/annum, yet something like a Bosch has 157min/cycle and 259kW/annum, takes half the time but energy consumption is not that far apart.
How can hoover work twice as long and not use a lot more energy, I suppose their drums don't spin on inertia alone, are their heat pumps so much more energy efficient than Bosch's.

Innovative drying technology
Using heat pump technology, this modern dryer constantly recycles hot air within the drum without losing heat or wasting energy. This model also features 4 sensor drying programmes, which monitor the moisture level of your clothes and automatically end the cycle when your load is perfectly dry.
It was delivered on 28/02.
Check your statements.
Has anyone been charged yet? We paid £50 by giftcard which got instantly depleted but we haven't been charged on our debit card still. Has anyone had the money taken yet?
Happy Days
Thanks OP

Not sure if they leave a message, I nearly didn't answer though as it was a random number from Merthyr Tydfil.
Has anyone that ordered on the 28th received their dryer yet? Ordered on the 27th and still not heard anything. Also out of curiosity do they leave an answerphone message when arranging delivery because I don't get reception in work so I'm wondering if they have rung but not left a message
So if they delivering for people who ordered on the 27th hopefully mine will be delivered soon.
I still haven't had a call yet
Those of you who are getting deliveries next week.

As for the really expensive tumble dryers, I would be quite willing to pay for them if they had 10 year long guarantees and the energy savings would make the purchase justifiable, but all the tumble dryers I've had have broken down after about 5 years!
the machine will be in these states most of the time on some machines this will be over 5kw per year..
anyone interested in the gory details of tumble dryer energy labels and how they are measuered.
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:32012R0392
TIME does not effect the energy use that is measured per cycle.
The A ratings is weighted to account for load size so the same rating will use more energy if it is a bigger machine.
for an A++ machine a decent 8kg is around 230kwh an A+++ are down to <180kwh.
Another important factor is condensing efficiency this is the amount of moisture captured by the machine and not released to the atmosphere.
Real world dry times are often much shorter as people have washing machines that remove more moisture than the standard measure.
My Grundig estimates the full load at around 3hours usually done in 2.
here is a A+++ under £450
https://www.gillmans.co.uk/product/maytag-uk-ltd-8kg-heat-pump-condenser-dryer-a+++-energy-hmmr80530--may-hmmr80530/
once you narrow down your choice get the product fiche, this has much more information of the product things like per cycle energy.
Hmmm, no cancellation email so fingers crossed. I just hope they let us know soon as I'd go for the current AO deal while it's still on.
Assuming JL can actually get the stock, I would expect they will honour the price on this.
How can hoover work twice as long and not use a lot more energy, I suppose their drums don't spin on inertia alone, are their heat pumps so much more energy efficient than Bosch's.
JL would be slightly obligated to fulfill the order if you asked them to dispose of your old one prior to delivery in the belief the order was coming.
Order status: Order Processing
Queried via email to confirm the order and delivery and have received the following:
Email does not state first week of February but at least I hope to get it delivered in 17 weeks time.
Poor practise from John Lewis!!!
Think we got ourselves a BARGAIN..."
Well they cancelled mine!!!!!
energy consumption numbers are good(looks higher than a lot of HP dryers but is 10kg load)
Condensing efficiency is only 84% decent machines are 90+
if looking for longer warranty the Grundig come with 5y but not seen it under £400 for ages
Think we got ourselves a BARGAIN...
