Cheapest I've found these active lights. Other items are also reduced including the plugs and colour changing lights. Links below but just use the dropdown list.

Great, thanks. Always been curious whether they would or not. Will give them a go!

The only problem I have with the hive lights so far is that there is no smart switch available. This means if someone turns your light switch off at the wall, the smart features are uncontactable until you manually power on again (first world problem I know)

I have the original hive system installed when it'd just come out. Will this bulb work with it?

True, but at least you have the option of cheaper sockets. I've also found them 100% reliable over the year that I've had them installed (i.e. the ones that don't talk back to the hub), so the monitoring/talkback feature wouldn't have been worth the extra (for me at least)

These bulbs are £13 at Maplin.

Saw that after posting but still cheapest for the active plug.

£27.99 for a plug? I think I'll stick with 3xEnergenie smart plugs for £20

The problem you have with the Energenie plugs you are talking about is they don't communicate back with the hub so if they haven't heard the instruction to turn on/off you don't know (quite common) which can be fine if you are present when issuing the command, you can issue it again, but if you're out or want in another room you can find nothing happened. Energenie do sell ones (Mi Home Adapter Plus MIHO005) that do, but are much closer to the price of the Hive socket (RRP £34.99, Screwfix £22.59).
I bought this bulb from Argos yesterday for the same price it can be purchased at Amazon. The reason why I opted for this one is it can be changed from Cool white to Warm white as opposed to just warm white.
the warm white only bulbs can also be purchased from Maplin at the same price as Amazon as mentioned earlier

been using a bulb since they dropped in price last time on amazon, I have to say they are brilliant, turns on according to schedule and dims to perfection.
tempted for the plug would be handy to turn on the electric blanket while I am downstairs.
any other idea what I can use the plug for?

Good price compared to some of the other options on the market, not sure I'm ready to spend that much on bulbs but ig you have Hive this would be a good choice rather than having to deal with separate apps etc.

If you need more than one, the "Motion Sensor 3 Pack" is a good deal for £63.20 since it avoids the delivery charge and brings the price down to around £21 each.
