iOS tablets are garbage. They severely lack quality apps for the big screen. Pixel C is to(o) far ahead. iPad is just a large web browser, really.
I use iOS for tablet and phone but wouldn't buy another tablet unless dust dirt cheap.

Ive been waiting since July and since then, iPad air 3, Tab S3, Xperia tablet and so on were supposed to come out but they haven't. With tech, if you like something then buy it. There is always something new on the horizon.

A great tablet no doubt but the original price for a 64GB unit being nearly £500? Judging by that price and the equally ridiculously priced Pixel phones I think there is some serious crack smoking going on in the GooglePlex....

More likely they realise it's now a year old and should be discounted. Hopefully there will be a new one next year.

They obviously realised how ridiculously overpriced their Pixel stuff is.

I've had the Pixel C for nearly a year and it is just about the perfect tablet IMHO. My wife has the iPad Air and that is also a great bit of kit, the big differences for me are the supporting infrastructure, if you are someone who just wants a tablet that you don't have to think too much about but which is a good performer and you are an Apple fan then the iPad is the right answer, if you want a top specced bit of kit which you can add all sorts of 3rd party developed software to (like Kodi, Showbox, Mobdro etc etc), which you can get to the OS for file management and which you can choose better apps than Apple's forcedware for things like browsing, email etc then the Pixel is a fantastic choice. At this price the Pixel C is a great buy.

Yes it's expensive, but people buy expensive Apple devices without criticism, so why not Android?
Seeing it is Christmas I have ordered one from Google at the reduction in price.

Bad Google !!! They don't manufacturer any devices ..... You would think so, if you read or watch there press releases.
It's same with most US companies ...

£ THREE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY NINE POUNDS AND NINETY NINE PENCE
Think about it. Do you really need a tablet that expensive?
If I had the money to throw away, I'd buy it in a heart beat. But fork it. I am a poor sod.

because this tablet was rated as the best tablet to buy for 2016? on every site except CNET of course, which I think is run by Apple.

I personally can't be bothered getting into the whole IOS / Android bickering however...... One thing I do know is these are an excellent media player and run Kodi natively out of the box really well, which keeps my daughter quiet in the car, hot from me.

Nice price but if reports are correct, Samsung Galaxy S3 is due 1st quarter 2017 at around £399 for the 10.1". I suspect it will be a Pixel C slayer. If you can hold out till March at the latest, I believe it will be worth the wait.

Unlikely, it'll have the Samsung's hideous TouchWiz UI on anyway

The Pixel C is not made by HTC. It's Google's own brand.
The iPad Air 2 32GB is the same price but smaller screen & 4:3 ratio, slower, less DPI - basically inferior technology bigged up by Apple's undeniably polished marketing.
I dislike everything Apple, I hate everything they stand for.

Hmmm, I still think the Z3 Compact tablet is better for £189 at Argos, screen size is smaller, by everything else about it is great.
