Well, I'm running the Android 5.1.1 no problem on the Nexus 2012. I found it sluggish on the kit Kat 4.4.4. So I upgraded to Lolipop, then followed some advice from here.
Cleared the cache, uninstalled the google launcher updates and disabled auto update on play, disabled text to speech and other unnecessary apps, and it's running very responsively compared to 4.4.4. Delighted with the wee tablet for £20

Mine turned up today too (2012). It was completely dead, I've had it on charge for nearly 3 hours and it's almost done. I'm using a Galaxy Tab A 2Amp charger though. You might need a different, higher Amp, charger.

Got mine delivered yesterday by tnt. was 4 working days.
It's mint condition for a grade B item. Was still on KitKat so haven't been used much.

I missed delivery earlier today, and it says on card they will attempt delivery the next working day or there is a link to rebook delivery (next three working days showed only though), or option to pick up from depot. It also says may be returned to sender if TNT don't hear from you within 3 working days. There is a telephone number to call TNT on the link also.

From reading some of the issues with both the 1st & 2nd gen I got the impression that the 2nd gen is fine on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. You might be OK upgrading, but do search on google just to be absolutely sure.

You could downgrade your 16GB Nexus 2012 to 4.4.x. It is fairly straight foward to do and there are guides online? I did this for my Mum's 2012 Nexus which was running very slowly with 5.x operating system. Now the tablet works very quickly again. Just ignore the notifications to upgrade again if you go this route.
Remember to back things up though before downgrading the operating system.

My one arrived - mint condition and looks like it has hardly been used if at all! Battery life is brilliant. Had a really old version of Android again indicating it has not been used for a long time - upgraded to version 6 and all working lovely. Hope everyone else's is as good...

contact TNT and tell them your situation, tell them to deliver to neighbour and tell your neighbour, or ask if they can keep hold of it for a little longer.
Rahan
20 Dec 16#100
Oh, it would be interesting to hear how the battery life is like since these tablets are getting on to 4 or 5 years old. Wonder whether it is still using the original battery....
Mine hasn't arrived yet (2012 version) and unfortunately hasn't been shipped yet. I'm going away for 8 or 9 days in a few days time so will probably miss the delivery. I couldn't find how long TNT hold onto the parcel before shipping it back to seller. It probably will be 7 days at best in which case I will have missed out on this tablet completely.

Nova Launcher is one of the first apps on any phone or tablet I have just deleted it on my original 16GB version and gone back to stock and it hasn't made the slightest difference. I think 5.0.2 was the straw that broke the camels back. With the exact same set up and the same apps on both the 16GB on 5.0.2 (Lollipop) and the 32GB on 4.4.4 (KitKat) the Kitkat running tablet is noticeably faster, it boots up quicker, apps load faster, webpages refresh faster. But I'm going to try Cyanogenmod (KitKat version) and stock Kitkat just to see which is better just out of curiosity.

I received my 2012 Nexus 7 32GB about a 90 minutes ago and seeing it's a B Grade device I'm very very impressed with the condition of the tablet as there's not a mark at all on it, I would call it a A Grade device. Also it came with Android 4.4 on it and it asked if I wanted to update it to 5.0.2 thanks but no thanks as my 16GB 2012 Nexus 7 is on 5.0.2 and it's virtually useless so I would recommend buyers of this tablet NOT to update to stock 5.0.2. Also it was TNT that delivered my tablet.

They normally take about a week to deliver. Grade B condition is normally excellent and only difference to Grade A is that they don't come with original box and charger etc. Still not got mine yet either but not worried - very reliable company!

My 2012 slowed when I updated it to 5.0, was fine before that but this was in 2013/2014 and it is now 4+ y/o hardware. It stopped taking charge eventually I suspect it was a bad internal connection on the micro usb - you can get a docking station to charge by the other set of contacts on the side, the official ones go quite cheaply on the bay.
