What's this like in comparison to GTX970 please?

Lets start with that you are NEVER better off buying 1060 3GB, because it doesn't have enough ram to run games. Not every game - some games. But next year the problem will be much more with newer titles. Unless you enjoy playing on medium!
Then you are comparing 1050ti OC with 470 non OC. If you compare raw speed without OC you see that 470 crashes 1050ti by over a third. And both can be overclocked. While offering a LOT more performance 470 also has a lot better price/performance. It is completely idiotic to buy Nvidia product, as they don't even start to compare.
While 470 is the lowest entry card for 1080p to play with comfort, you can buy 1050ti and play on LOW.

I have the GTX 1050 2GB. The most "demanding" game i play is Left 4 Dead 2 so i don't need much. Its more than enough for me but this card must handle every game at the highest settings.

Better get AMD 470 for a little more and get 40% more performance. This card is junk.

Only if you can find a RX 470 on offer for £150-ish, they are priced so close to the RX 480 4GB right now you are better off buying that or a cheap GTX 1060 3GB for a little extra.
The RX 470 is not 40% faster than the GTX 1050 Ti
