I say this as an AMD CPU/GPU user, please don't buy this AM3+ board and a CPU to go in it now. AMD has abandoned the desktop CPU market since 2012, and any chip you put in this will be just as old. The socket is dead, the chipset was outdated even on release, the CPUs are 32nm at best and woefully hot and slow in single core usage, just don't.
Do yourself a favour and just wait a while for either Zen from AMD, or lowered intel chip prices due to Zen's release.

If it weren't for AMD, your Intel kit would cost 5-10 times more, and be much less powerful; Intel were stagnating until AMD came along and shook up the cpu market, and continue to sit back every few years until it looks like SMD are catching up.

There was a deal on here last month for 1x crucial 8gb for £22.59 @amazon
I bought 2. They came 2 days ago but envelope box packaging they use was open and tied up with rubber band. Items still there looking fine.
Complained got promo an half refund so now its working out at £15 now. Cant stop laughing lol

No, initial processors are going to be high end only. I'd be surprised if in the initial release you'd get change from £500 for board / RAM / CPU.
That said I suspect there will be boards around the £100 mark pretty much from go that will have similar features as this board as the new chipset has native M.2 and 3.1 support which this AM3+ board bolts on via 3rd party chipsets. If I was building a new system right now and only wanted to spend £200 I'd be looking at a budget board with a skylake i3 though unless I had a resonable AM3+ CPU knocking around.

What a load of poppycock! My FX 6300 (@4.5GHz), which cost £100 4 years ago, is STILL letting me put out well over one hundred frames per second at 1920x1080 resolution in DOOM and isn't even fully loaded. I can't even hear my Zalman CNPS9500 running whilst playing the most bang up to date games using a GTX 1060 as the CPU runs so cool when you use a decent TIM and heatsink :sunglasses:

Why is this hot? You'd be better off either waiting for Zen or going Intel. Only reason to buy a board like this is if your existing one died - even then I'd consider moving to intel.

The DDR being offered is gaming kit, it is always expensive, although I will admit,the last time I bought some it was about £46 per stick. It does depend on the colour though, although they are all the same spec, some colours are more popular, so the less popular colours get sold off cheap.

Suppose if you have an FX chip on a non crossfire/sli board this would be a great purchase in order to get a few more years out of your board. I have a secondary system with an fx 8350 o/c'ed and the only reason i changed my system a few years back was because i found a great deal on an i7 + motherboard. But i'm confident I could continue to use the AMD system for many more years even without upgrading its 2x 280x's.

I used to be a fan of AMD and did have an AMD machine, although it was ages ago. I am now converted back to Intel so no matter what the facts or history is, I prefer Intel. I find it is better quality and you get what you pay for. Just my opinion.

It does seem particularly good value when you consider they give a further discount when you get a CPU as well. I was put off by the lack of PCI3 but agree it should be a few years until you need the bandwidth anyway. I can see myself getting one of these but it's time for a new case as well. Should probably get a decent cooler as well!
This is the way to go for a cheap upgrade as there doesn't seem to be any value in pre made systems at the moment.

PCIe 3's bandwidth isn't required for even the highest end GPUs yet and won't be for some time. It's like putting SATA 3 on a mechanical HDD that will never use even SATA 2's bandwidth.

Never believe the rumours / hype completely.... but even if Zen is just 70% as good as they say / rumours suggest then it will be awesome.
