For those who are complaining about this deal - the owners have decided to give away free food, to those who cannot afford to eat or those who have nobody to celebrate with.
If you have or can do better, then please tell us your story.
How many of you are spending your Christmas day, giving away food to people who you don't know and working for free? Serious question.

A lot of the comments typify the people that frequent this site. Most of them don't even give a deal back let alone any time, money or opinion of any worth.

As Alan Partridge, from Norwich says, "that's saaaad! Some people......"

And how many people live in that area? " A total of 132,512 (2011 census)[5] people live in the City of Norwich and the population of the Norwich Travel to Work Area (i. e. the self-contained labour market area in and around Norwich in which most people live and commute to work) is 282,000 (mid-2009 estimate)

Whilst they are being very Christian and generous they aren't Jesus - once the fish runs out that's it.

Most people are going to be spending time with friends and family and getting fed. The lonely and homeless people this benefits will be the only and best present they could wish for.

Other lonely and sad people who have internet access will do nothing of any worth but spend time on the internet, alone between bouts of onanism.
Gollywood
25 Dec 16 #127
Is that how you view this gesture? As a means of getting hundreds/thousands through the doors as a result?

What typically starts off as a small note in the window, is then via word of mouth passed on to other media outlets - who have effectively hijacked the gesture...
QuickProfits
25 Dec 16 #126

Who gives a toss if it's "good advertising"?

It's a very admirable gesture. It's specifically local in Alan Partridge country - absolutely no doubt he would be down there, with his 12 incher!

All the moaners and cynics on here - take a step back and realise what you are doing on Christmas day sitting on the internet, alone, posting rubbish.

I think it's an incredibly nice thing to do and I'm just gutted that there's no charitable chippies in my area doing the same today!

I bet all the staff and customers have a great day - Merry Christmas to you all. People do care x

Its a lovely gesture however with homeless and elderly being particularly vulnerable a hygene rating of 'one' star out of 'five' makes eating there worrisome - great shame.

This is the third deal of this type I've seen so far. Great idea and well done to those people who are doing this they deserve all the praise and respect they get.
For some reason thou I don't really think that this is the correct place for this type of deal. Surely this has been advertised locally within the areas concerned to the very people they are aiming such an idea at already . Not sure what sharing nationally achieves. Perhaps a new community of local section may be in order for such ideas

Hundreds around the country doing similar things, and not shouting about it
Why would it possibly need national coverage for a local offer
If it was a sincere act of altruism they would do it once a week or even once a month, not just to grab a few headlines at Christmas
If you think they are doing it for any reason other than self gratification or advertising, you are deluded

Secondly, if they didn't tell anyone that they were doing it how would those who might benefit know to go there? Thirdly, before you **** anyone off for being generous and caring, please tell us what you have done to help the disadvantaged in your community this Christmas?
