Wow you must have really drawn the short straw. One of the best economy flights I've ever had. Flown them about 4 times to Asia and they were streets ahead of the rest in all aspects. I fly Asia regularly and have experienced most of them and fly these by choice out of Heathrow despite Gatwick being far closer.

Unfortunately can't agree with anyone who has anything good to say about this airline. I had a dreadful flight with these from Qatar to Heathrow. Very old plane, awful seats and legroom, terrible food, but worst of all, worst flight attendants I've ever come across. Very rude, ignorant people who prioritised those who speak their own language over anyone who speaks English natively.
I'd only fly if I was desperate or really strapped for cash and don't mind risking a bad flight. Otherwise I'd definitely pay more for a better airline to avoid ruining a holiday experience!

Flown with them 4 times. I have ONLY ever selected them based on price as the service is TERRIBLE (and usually when the price difference is over £80 as I'd rather spend the extra without having the hassle.) Customer services non existent. They'll change tickets as they see fit. Website used to be terribly UNSTABLE charging but not issuing tickets. Doha has to be one of the most boring transit airports ever and you're usually there for several hours. If you get tickets to Indonesia at £289 take them... The next best price I've ever had is £400 with Garuda (direct though!)

Don't think there was any need for that rude comment :/
I had better experience with Thomson flying to the Med, simply sharing my experience. It seems there are more positives than negatives, also seems they've upgraded aircraft since as this was a few years ago. Personally due to the experience I had I would still choose a different airline where possible. As stated, I flew from Qatar to U.K. which is classed as long haul.

A lot of the flight options it is coming out at for me are booked via "wefly.co.uk". I have not come across them before and a cursory Google seems to reveal reasonably mixed reviews. Has anyone used them to book flights?

Qatar are best of a bad bunch.... in my opinion definitely better than emirates*. But I feel all the middle eastern companies arrived on the scene and were so far ahead of the competition at that point that they appeared amazing and now they've settled in to the industry they are just above what an average consumer expects now a days.
Apart from all that - this is an amazing deal!

I also didnt think much of this Airline although my flight was just a short one around 4 hours they served half the plane with drinks before stopping the rest of us got nothing
and compared to Emirates , Etihad , Thai airways , KLM , and so on for service they are lacking based on my flight.

I found them to be OK but not outstanding. The way they dish out wine (in economy) in little plastic cups (nice wine tho!) is a bit stingey and am I alone in thinking the back of their 787s are the noisiest seats on just about any modern plane?
aljack to WaxMechaniK
21 Dec 161#26
Yes I've had poor service, think that they are living on a previous reputation. I found the 777-300 ER aircraft OK but the A330 and 787-8 aircraft are abysmal for a long haul aircraft that have very narrow seats and not a great deal of leg room. However they are pretty cheap now with modern aircraft.

Unlucky if you got an old aircraft.... at the mo LHR-DOH is operated daily by 2xA380 (max age 2 years), 2xA350 (max age 2 years), 1x787 (max age 4 years) and 2x777 (max age 9 years). Certainly not an old fleet. I've only flown 4 sectors on QR, but my limited experience was really good and this deal is a steal

To be objective, most of the folks working at the airports, particularly in the Middle East, are not locals, generally speaking anyway.
I've never found any of the actual "locals" working in immigration or security (across the ME) to be any other than polite or friendly.
YMMV of course but from my own experience, the USA is quite possibly the worst travel experience you can have, when it comes to attitudes with immigration staff...

My summary experience of Qatar Airlines is "above average" I'd say.
Some of the newer Dreamliner planes are wonderful looking inside.
My last flight out to Dubai, in November, was a bonus, as I got the full middle row of seats and just got the head down!
From an economy class perspective, the best I've experienced is with Turkish Airlines...but then again, they can also be bloody awful and it's a miserable service. I've had a 50% satisfaction rate with Turkish but their food and service can be the best economy if they get it right (in my opinion anyway!)
Think my next long haul flight will be on British Airways, to Jo'burg in the new year though.

If I choose a stopover of 8+ hours will they give accommodation?

They do occasionally use the A330 - that was the aircraft I flew. Really really hard seats, that's all I remember from that flight. The 787 was cool, great lighting and WiFi. It had literally just come into service with them. The 777 at 9 across is what you should look for. Far better than 10 across which airlines are making the norm.

As a gold frequent flyer with QR i can say they are not a bad airline at all, for the price it's a good deal.
I see lots of negative comments in this thread, i have to agree with some of them as QR have been cost cutting in the last few years - adding more seats for an example. Regarding the stop over in DOH it's not bad, the new airport (about 3 years old from memory) - is nice and clean and i understand the train is now working which will cut down walking times.
The staff you get on QR are normally very nice and i don't agree about having an old aircraft that someone has said, maybe it has just not been refitted with the latest desgin - It's not like Emirates who use really old aircraft on routes to Africa (Durban for an example - CRT's in the damn aircraft!).
You can find similar deals, but if it costs say 30 pounds more than a chinese airline - i would pay the extra and fly with QR.

Flew Qatar to Bali a year ago. Their 777 was great, 9 across instead of the usual 10 in economy. The 787 may well be the dreamliner but at 9 across and smaller cabin width than the 777, it's something I always try to avoid. The flight back from Doha to Heathrow was appalling. Service Qrap, really, really poor and seats painfully hard and generally not what I'm used to with say Singapore or Thai. For this price however it's a good deal. Heat.
