Hot only if you buy few and test them. Remember that Fender is an American brand and it's best to buy a one Made in America. When you buy a Made in Mexico one you can get a very good guitar or a rubbish one and as such it is best to test few of them and decided which one sounds best for you.

True but to be fair (and in my opinion) there is a lesser chance to get a rubbish MIA one than MIM. MIM were really good in the 90s though so it's always worth to check the aftermarket!

I have a standard, an LPJ (not a junior) and an SG (which were of course Les Paul's when released) the junior gets played more than all of them.

Juniors have been around since the 50's so of course it's a Les Paul

Also worth noting that often "cheaper" models are structurally identical to more expensive models minus time consuming extras like binding, gloss paint etc

Barely qualifies as a Les Paul? Its a Les Paul Junior? Of course its a Les Paul? Different from a standard, but still a Les Paul, My old Junior is a tone monster! - anyway, I can't get on with the weird cricket bat necks of the 2015's, but if you can, then that was a cracking deal!!

As for the Tele, good deal, not sure about the best guitar for under £500, but that is subjective as someone else said. Voting hot.

Absolute tosh. Looking at your previous freezing cold Les Paul deal proves you don't know what you're talking about :P

Gibson put their name on a whole load of Les Paul shaped guitars that sell for less than usual. The Tribute, the 60s Tribute, the Studio, the Less and a few others. The Junior with a single pickup and an odd shaped pickguard barely qualifies as a Les Paul.... :stuck_out_tongue:

The ones that cost a few quid are the Standard and the Traditional, and 2016s are being sold off now for £1500 and £1200. The Customs and the true historics for quite a lot more.

Great guitar for great price and very good company to deal with. Also worth a look on Andertons are the prs se standards for around the £350 mark if looking for something a little different.

There is a good argument that for the money G&L are better value than Fender and just as good, if not better. For those that are not aware of G&L, this was the company set up by Leo Fender after he sold his original company Fender. G&L Tributes are usually around the £400 mark and some you can get under that. Here is a good alternative to a Fender MIM G&L Tribute Asat Special

It is indeed, a yellow Gibson Les Paul junior in a hardcase £230 is what I bought last December from Amazon

I know this isn’t a guitar forum but if anybody wants a Fender made/endorsed Tele then you could do worse than consider a Squier Classic Vibe for £340 from Absolute Music. If headstock isn’t important then the Harley Benton TE-80 NT Deluxe Series (from Thomann) get excellent reviews and is amazing value for money at under £170 delivered.

Lovely guitars, keep an eye on the amazon Gibson deals, picked up a Les Paul with hard case for £270 this time last year

Tempted, if only it had a rosewood fingerboard.

Decent guitars indeed, I remember when new ones could be had for £300 so when I see the prices these days I'm always shocked :smile:
