You missed the full model name:
EVGA SuperNOVA 550 GS
The GS like your other deal for the 850W means it's made by Seasonic. So this (along with the SuperNOVA G2's made Superflower) are the best 80+ Gold rated supplies EVGA make. EVGA also do Platinum (PS and P2) and Titanium (T2 only so just Superflower) supplies both those costs lots extra.

Bought this last week and it's great kit, slightly bigger than I was expecting from replacing a faulty 500w corsair but the quality is fantastic!

'Cables'? Surely you mean capacitors?
Anyway, AFAIK these days all/almost all Corsair RM* PSU are made by so-so CWT or Greatwall whereas this is made by Seasonic.

Good deal. There's also another interesting one to consider for £5 extra: Corsair CS650M 650W 80+ Gold - £64.99 @ Overclockers

Probably about £70-£75.
However, since UKP went down 20% against the dollar, the more relevant camelcamelcamel chart is surely this one:

First time the upgrade can be slightly daunting attempting to install a new Power Supply Unit. If you plan carefully the upgrade, take your time, and go through the process step by step, de-assembling, and re-attaching the cables to each component* it shouldn't be a problem. Always research the upgrade, taking advise from videos, books, and friends, and you shouldn't fail.
*(And spring clean the system, taking the appropriate precautions).

no its probably game over for this one since it has been replaced by g2 and now they have released g3.
although I wouldn't completely say there is no chance as they may get some more clearance priced stock if their suppliers have a few left.

Not quite:
GS = Gold rated Seasonic
G2 = Gold rated Superflower based on Leadex Gold
G3 = Gold rated Superflower based on Leadex II Gold
EVGA have been selling these at the same time as well as G1/GQ (which are FSP made). AFAIK the G3 are newer than the G2 but they have no newer Seasonic Gold rated so unless they are ditching Seasonic I don't think these are discontinued. Mind you, didn't google any of this
