I got one of these with the 179 xbox elite console deal at Tesco last month. It's nice but I personally wouldn't pay 100 quid for it. If I had I would have felt a bit disappointed. Obviously this is completely subjective and this is just my experience as a casual middle aged gamer.

I'm so glad I paid that wee bit more to get myself the GoW edition Elite from Game for my controller collection a couple of months ago. I really would be traumatised coming in here giving them dinlows a smug grin by piping up about how Argos have shafted me up the Harris sideways :disappointed:

OMG, tell me about it. Been struggling with that issue since I got the controller - I've been using it for some games on my laptop as that has Bluetooth, and some emulators on my Raspberry Pi 3 as even that has BT built in, but my desktop PC doesn't have it. Granted, I haven't built a new PC from scratch for a few years (just had incremental upgrades instead) so my Asus motherboard is on the older side, but it was top of the range when I bought it and still worth quite a bit second hand. It has built-in Wi-Fi which I've never used because I have powerline adapters, and for some reason I always thought that included BT, so after getting the Xbone controller I activated the built-in Wi-Fi, only to be bitterly disappointed. Took a look at the mobo's Wi-Fi and it's nothing more than a laptop-style mini PCI-E card inside a proprietary adapter. I have an old laptop with a BT Wi-Fi card lying around so I completely disassembled my PC to swap the card in the adapter, only to find that the BT still doesn't work - clearly the adapter doesn't have the pins to support it. I could put it in a PCI adapter but I don't want anything in the way of my graphics card's fans. The only other option is a USB adapter, which I'll probably go for, it's just a shame it will take up a USB port. It has got me looking for a new motherboard, possibly as the start of a whole new PC build, but it's ridiculous how few of them even today have something as simple as BT built-in. On the plus side, it's been a good excuse to get a Steam Link (as that has BT) and play some PC games in the living room!

Just a word of advice for anyone purchasing: It's really worthwhile adding the optional 3 year extended warranty. The bumper on mine broke 3 days outside the warranty period having had only casual/moderate use - look online and lots of people have had issues with the bumpers and grips falling off.
The controller is fantastic, particularly for FPS games, but there are known quality issues.

I ordered with dead rising 4 - got no email or text to indicate any change with the order before finding out instore game had dropped off my order and after some debate with assistant and manager I just left it as no game in stock and little help from staff - why on earth stores can't simply order the game from another store or warehouses is beyond me. Appalling customer service and poor website from Argos - complaint email sent but that will probably just be a further waste of my time.

A lot of people in here on their high horse. The title of the thread describes the deal adequately, nobody needs other's opinions on what they should be paying for a product. If you were looking for one of these controllers then this is the best deal around- i.e. "Hot". If not, then why are you adding your opinion on the value or worth of a controller?! Suggest a better deal, some useful experience of the product or move along.....

Because that's the price a controller should be.
- in your opinion.
No digging required, I was notified of this deal as I have Xbox alerts set up on the app and as I was scrolling down, I accidentally clicked your name and took me to your deal list.
Personally I don't require the elite controller and was looking at comments to see what people thought of them and the games, but just as most can see the value in spending more on an official controller, as you do, compared to a 3rd party cheapie, I can appreciate that some might value this. If it's not for you, then don't vote or comment on deals - you're the one who obviously hasn't enough to do on Christmas Day, as well as today.

Actually pretty good price, even at full price, for a premium pro gamer controller - I had a Scuf four trigger hybrid controller with Scuf grip finish, remappable triggers, blacked out buttons, and adjustable trigger stops for my 360, and that cost about £160 plus, four years ago. I totally loved that controller
Right now, the Infinty Premium from Scuf for Xbox One costs £135.96,and that's the sale price.
Given that, £100 for the Elite is pretty good, and if you get this deal with Dead Rising 4, it's a bargain price.
Obviously, if you're not the sort of player who plays a lot of FPS or twitch gaming, or you don't want to spend lots of money, then a premium controller is not for you. Stick to your £35 standard controller and be happy with it. For those of us who want the best controller available, premium products come with premium prices. So, hot vote from me.

Except it's not over priced. Compared to controllers like Scuff, it's actually under priced. Use an Elite controller then go back to a regular one. It makes the regular controller feel like a piece of cheap plastic. Which is still a hell of a load better than the PS4 controller. I struggle to switch to FPS on the PS4 after playing on Xbox, mostly as the thumbsticks are in the wrong place.
Ultimately, you don't want to buy this don't. But why are you so anti-elite controller?

reddragon105
25 Dec 16#89
Not hating, just pointing out that this is a deals site and just because this isn't something you would buy doesn't mean it's a cold deal. Comparing it with a regular Xbox One controller is like comparing apples and oranges, or at least high quality top price apples with everyday apples. A free £40 game with a £100 controller is a good deal, even if you personally wouldn't pay £100 for a controller in the first place (I wouldn't either). But I'd still like to know where I could get a regular controller for £25; £35 seems to be the going rate.

Yes, annoyingly - these were released about a year ago; the newer Xbox One controllers with Bluetooth were only released this August. Maybe they will make an Elite v2 with Bluetooth at some point, but for now they do require a wireless adapter, and there aren't any third party ones yet so you're stuck with the expensive official ones. I was tempted to get an Elite for my PC but managed to get a good deal on a Bluetooth one with a play and charge kit so I'm happy with that, especially as I've just got a Steam Link for £16!
Where can you even get a regular Xbox One controller for £25? But these are Elite controllers which retail at £100. Sure, not everyone is in the market for a £100 controller, but for those who are this is the best deal for one due to the free games being worth up to £40 (Dead Rising 4).
MysticalUndies
25 Dec 16#85
Similar to what I did. Sold my 1tb console for this, basically paying around 20 quid to change. I wanted the faster hdd more than anything as the standard consoles internal drive is so incredibly slow.
I also wasn't saying the controller is bad, just I wouldn't spend 100 on it. The build quality is noticeably better but as to the better precision people rave on about I'm not sure I've noticed this. I've switched between the controllers during games to compare this claim and if there is a difference I'm just not good enough to notice.

I got the same deal from Currys for 189, sold my previous Xbox one 500GB for 95 quid at CeX, effectively getting a new elite console with elite controller for less than 100 quid with new warranty (compared to my old console which had a moody drive and out of warranty). Couldn't get better than that.
Having used the elite controller, its worth good money but 99 is tad too much and agree with your opinion. Also, some games don't support the elite controller's customisation i.e. if you use the half RT settings, it just doesn't recognise that in some games.......
but yeah each to his own

Have one of these, got and Elite Xbox bundle from Game a few months ago (£200, traded old console for £120, so £80 for controller and 1TB hybrid drive). Was it worth it? For the amount I paid, just about. Premium feel and nice to be able to swap sticks, but I cant get on with the paddles so I leave them off. Just got a newer v3 model standard controller and to be honest, with the ability to connect via Bluetooth, I would recommend this over the Elite controller - especially for Windows gamers, as it connects to Windows 10 without the need for the adapter. The Bluetooth controllers can be had for £35 from Currys at the moment

All the people moaning about the price, this is a really good deal in my opinion. I bought it for 100 when it first came out which was a bargain considering the shortage. I like this controller, didn't expect to but it's worth it if you like your gaming. Full price is a bit much. £80 is about right so this deal is HOT!

good for you. the elite controller is a work of art, I own one & was well worth £100. I'll be gaming with it for 5 years, minimum. That's £20 a year for best available pad on the market....it is far far superior to the £25 pad you're mentioning. it's like comparing a Skoda with a Ferrari.....

I got one of these with the 179 xbox elite console deal at Tesco last month. It's nice but I personally wouldn't pay 100 quid for it. If I had I would have felt a bit disappointed. Obviously this is completely subjective and this is just my experience as a casual middle aged gamer.

I got mine with the elite in a 2015 deal posted and I'd second this. I actually use the lunar white model more than the elite controller.

Cex are giving £26 cash for dead rising 4 so if like me you're getting it just for the PC you can factor that into the price.

Yeah they do, it's £19.99 and annoyingly you have to get Microsoft's official one. Works great though.

I think grammar standards have taken a real nosedive since dawn of internet. Understandable but disappointing.
Then I know how to spell that word forever...
Another £10 off?!

I'm so glad I paid that wee bit more to get myself the GoW edition Elite from Game for my controller collection a couple of months ago. I really would be traumatised coming in here giving them dinlows a smug grin by piping up about how Argos have shafted me up the Harris sideways :disappointed:
The controller is fantastic, particularly for FPS games, but there are known quality issues.
My camera is the best in the price range and for what it offers.
What can that controller with that amazing "free" game do?
People in glass house.
Great controller great price and I'm picking mine up today!
Yes, I once posted a deal for an official £30 controller. Because that's the price that a controller should be.
I get the debate about £100 being a bit steep, but it is an amazing gamepad, I'm glad I got one.
While it is a good deal I was rather underwhelmed by the elite controller I got when the elite bundle wasn't being cleared out everywhere. Ended up selling mine and going for the xbone s controller. In my opinion it is much better value. Especially for a PC casual gamer
Ultimately, you don't want to buy this don't. But why are you so anti-elite controller?
Where can you even get a regular Xbox One controller for £25? But these are Elite controllers which retail at £100. Sure, not everyone is in the market for a £100 controller, but for those who are this is the best deal for one due to the free games being worth up to £40 (Dead Rising 4).
I also wasn't saying the controller is bad, just I wouldn't spend 100 on it. The build quality is noticeably better but as to the better precision people rave on about I'm not sure I've noticed this. I've switched between the controllers during games to compare this claim and if there is a difference I'm just not good enough to notice.
it's not even road leagal
Oh yea its sold out
Having used the elite controller, its worth good money but 99 is tad too much and agree with your opinion. Also, some games don't support the elite controller's customisation i.e. if you use the half RT settings, it just doesn't recognise that in some games.......
but yeah each to his own
I fail to see £65 worth of difference if I'm honest....
Just saying...
Look at the reviews on many different sites and you will find most average 5 stars. There are very few bad reviews on build quality and being faulty.
Faults happen but the percentages are very small.
Just because this is the cheapest it can be found, doesn't mean it's a "deal".
Also in relation to that faults YouTube video like sBech said, if you google faults on most of the pro pads Scuff etc, you will find a load of people complaining about the build quality.
Good find. Heat added.
Cheers

It's a luxury item but I'm worth it.
PS does anyone with the control feel it makes racing games more precise, with the longer sticks? Just out of curiosity.
