Sainsbury's have these on offer for £20 and in stock. Perfect for your new Amazon echo Christmas present . Also if you have not shopped with Sainsbury's before you can get an extra £15 off orders over £75 using the promo code SCSEAXFDC at checkout . That could be 4 x smart plugs for £65 instead of £100 !!!!

Because I've been getting vague answers over when UK stores will be restocked I rang TP-link UK about it. They are 'expecting' a shipment to arrive in the UK at the end of Jan and, according to the sales lady, it will be early Feb by the time they hit the stores/retailers.

Of course things may get delayed further, but it will be at least a month until you'll be able to get these on tap again. Even then I doubt they'll last long since demand has been very high (probably due to Amazon dot sales) with the sales lady saying they've had a lot of enquiries about this particular product range.

warlockuk
4 Jan 17 #161
Lol
That's because they're relays turning on/off a 240v power line. A dim, are you mad? Imagine if it's not a lamp, but something like a computer or TV or something? The power dropping slowly would... not be good.
They're not light switches. They're power switches. If you want dimmers, buy dimmers.
You might have totally misunderstood what this thing is for. You can buy the things you're describing - they're different products.

Wanna sell your HS100s? I'll take 'em off your hands if you're semi-local.

Heads up for anyone near Leigh, went in yesterday, they had 8 on the shelf so I bought one, liked it so much went back today and they had nine on the shelf so they obviously had more in the stockroom since my visit yesterday, bought 2 more at 1.30pm so there are still seven left, good luck if you are nearby

Same happened to me, ordered 3 to collect today, order was still there when I left to pick them up. On arrival, order had been cancelled without notice. Guy at C&C said their system isn't live and item only picked overnight! When I got home, order was still up, and called them. Stated I'd collected the order!!!!! No way! I complained and they have me a £10 apology voucher - would rather have had the items I'd ordered. Cant believe they do not work in real time stock

So set up the thing last night and I suppose I owe this forum a review as I also ask for other people feedback.
Pros
Setup not difficult took few mins
The thing works well
U can group diff sockets together to switch on and off on one command all of them as well as individually
Now to the cons
The stupid green led light which is constantly on is annoying at night when it's dark pitch if it's on sight level
I was worried last night not sure if it's just me but felt surrounded by wifi signal as had few of them all over the bedroom
There is a clicking on and off noise similar to the standard remote sockets. At this price range I expect a smoother more modern soft on or off and even a dim, while this is no diff to the remote on and off click basic ones which u can pick up 5 sockets and a remote for 25 quid delivered from amazon
So the only advantage is Alexa and I didn't find it fair to my partner for me to be shouting Alexa turn on this light or that first thing in the morning.
I ld much prefer a dimming function and a softer non click operation
And one more thing
The tp link socket is so fat it takes both sockets in the wall as no space to plug anything else next to it
Also the sockets get warm not sure why or if that's acceptable
Finally it would be nice if this controlled all lighting as it central ceiling lamps and spot lights etc
But this unit connects your lamps that u can connect to the socket
U ld still have to get up and switch off the spots lights and all other lights connected to the mains switch
What would be smart of tp link is to phase out this old Stone Age socket and come up with a smoother operation silent no clicking on off, maybe a dimmer option as well as no led green lights as part of a complete package for a reasonable price to all remote switches and sockets and maybe even lamps. I think it's horrific to pay 40-50
Quid per single Philips bulb
I ld rather tp link provided a switch as part of a package to change the mains switch

Went to collect mine from the Maypole store Birmingham and no click and collect van in site went to customer services and they tried calling him but no answer then eventually he arrived but didn't have my order. He gave me an 0800 number to call and eventually they admitted they had messed up with stocks and were very apologetic and after complaining I'd had a 50 mile round trip they offered me a £25 voucher which I accepted and it was e mailed to me within minutes.

30 Dec 16 #113
Well I have an update. So I rejected the mouse, went into the shop to get some milk and checked the tech ailse and they had the Sockets on the shelf!!! Took them to customer services and after 10 mins of explaining it all I got what I ordered and they sorted the code out too so 4 sockets for £62. Relieved.

Worth checking in store for anyone else as it turns out that the Sainsbury I ordered from has its click and collect supplied from a different store (which clearly had no stock!!) and they don't check any other stores.

I have been a great fan of the remote control plugs in the past but these are a step forward, they do everything the remote control plugs do but with Amazon Dot via voice which ok maybe weird or lazy but why not. But the best thing is they can be controlled from anywhere, my static caravan has two installed so I can switch on the heating or lighting at anytime from anywhere. Via the app you can also set up timers etc

i went and got mine directly off the shelves. if you do c&c/delivery, it'll be down to whether the staff member doing the picking finds them.

That's why people are buying them, they don't want to buy something else and then have to learn how to set up an android bridge to save a few pennies, the ease of use and set up is what justifies the cost
camelopardis
29 Dec 16 #79
instead of paying these ridiculous prices for wifi plugs, buy a Broadlink RM Pro hub and then use much cheaper RF plugs such as Energenie (currently £20 for 4) if you set up an android bridge they are controllable with alexa

I have a remote but rather than trying to find it i ld rather just pair it to Alexa and tell it what to do

I have a remote control that turns on/off 4 electrical sockets within a room. I use it for the lamps and hard to reach PC plug. And it seems exactly what you need rather than this.

Unless you're away all the time, just get a timer lamp to deter thieves for example when you go on holiday.

If you can get the kettle to boil from upstairs, that's something my gadget can't do due to limited range of having to be within a couple of rooms. Although my kettle doesn't boil just by turning the electric on - and I would still need to fill it with water. Nevertheless the kettle idea is at least plausible. Nearly everything else people have suggested has been possible with my gadget and I don't have to speak to the house which is weird frankly.

Amazon vouchers?

Great deal, struggling as I already have Lightwaverf and want to use same tech... but so cheap..

Bought four of these for £16:49 each a few weeks back (Argos)

Half fill the kettle, ask Alexa to switch on from upstairs, Kettle is boiled as I reach the Kitchen.

Also had the xmas lights on a timer and LED lights under the kitchen units, very handy when leaving the kitchen with a brew in each hand to simply say "Lights off".

£16 each now that is a bargain. Can't wait to mess around with mine when they arrive

Put xmas lights on a timer and connect led lights to a motion sensor and
Save yourself the hassle of speaking and. a few quid

Outstanding! Thanks. Ordered the set of 4. Was so annoyed I missed these around this price last time.

Title was misleading, Im thinking 4 for £65, not bad, but in your small print "Also if you have not shopped with Sainsbury's before you can get an extra £15 off orders over £75 using the promo code SCSEAXFDC at checkout" I have shopped at Sainsbury's before, so, not £65 for me, but £80, should amend title to first time customers only.

I have seen a lot of people say this about using it with a kettle but surely unless the kettle doesn't have a switch them it's useless for that.

Struggling with the point of putting one of these on a kettle!

The echo can control this socket, so plug something in that you want to voice control, like a light, kettle etc...
