I was just about to buy the Dyson V6 Car + Boat from Argos at £149.99
The Car version comes with 6 accessories but is heavier (1.57kg).
Is it worth paying £50 more for the car version?

The car version is also 28AW suction power but no mention of the max mode power on Dyson website.
Dyson sells the handheld tool kit for £56 including the extendable hose, dirt brush, soft brush and nozzle tool.
V6 at £99 + kit = £155 so still more expensive than Argos. I think the car version is better with the additional accessories.

Pretty sure all the V6 versions are the same vacuum, it's just the included tools that differ.
Anyway, we bought the V6 animal version recently and was surprised how good/light it is. it's much nicer to use than the Gtech Multi (v1) we have as in particular my wife didn't like the weight of that.
What is rubbish about it is the size of the dust collector. The 20 minute run time is meaningless, we can fill it in seconds and it's not that easy to empty either, you really need to take the pole off if you are using it like an upright hoover and if you overfill it, which is easy to do, then you really need to take the whole canister off rather then just drop the flap to empty it and unlike many Dyson's we've had it's just not quite a quick an easy as it should be.
It's still useful to us in many ways, but as we have dogs, it can't replace a proper vacuum as even a quick daily hoover generally means a lot of dirt/hair.
bma1445
5 Dec 16#38
These are really useful for picking up little bits around the house - saves getting the big hoover out.
But for the car, I always find myself getting the proper Dyson out. Trying to manoeuvre with one of these under car seats is a pain in the backside, and they don't really have enough power for getting mud off the mats, etc, I find.
VimesUK
5 Dec 161#39

All V6 models, use the same Dyson digital motor V6, 2 Tier Radial™ cyclones, 28AW (100AW Max) Suction power. It is only the accessories and colours that change. The V8's are however different and more powerful.

It sounds weak, but that's longer than you think and it's not like you have emergency vacuuming that lasts 20 minutes plus which can't stand a charge in between. It's never been a problem.
2 years warranty is poor though, the normal vacuums have 5 years so they obviously don't rate their batteries.

I bought the DC34 too. To be honest, I don't think there's that much difference between them. The V6 may be a little more powerful on max but this will obviously be at the expense of run time. I believe they have the same power on the standard setting.

I bought the v6 car and boat version from argos as someone else on this thread suggested. I got it today, it's worth it in my opinion as you get a lot more accessories with that version including a mini motorized tool (along with some other tools that are handy for the car).

5 Dec 161#85
The dc34 lasts 15mins in standard power and 6 minutes in max power mode. This one lasts 20mins / 7mins. So it looks like the dc34 either has a worse battery or less efficient motor. Obviously no use to you, but for anyone buying now this is definitely worth the extra £10 over the dc34.

I've got the V6 absolute, bought it refurbed (looks brand new) on the dyson ebay outlet. Around £214. It comes with the long pole, motorised head etc.
I have to say it's fantastic. For anyone thinking about plugging it in and using it, no - it has a short cable and as someone else says it takes longer to charge.
You may think 20 mins is quite a short charge, but I have a 3 bedroom house, and provided I vacuum every week I can do the whole house on one charge. It is very quick to use as it's powerful and you don't have to keep going over bits. You can do a room in literally 2 mins. Maybe add a minute if you want to do the edges with a tool. It is much quicker than a corded machine as you don't have all the bending, plugging in etc. As it's so light, it's really easy to take upstairs too. The v6 absolute also comes with a special small motorised head which is perfect for stairs - just take the pole off and put the small head on for precision stuff like stairs or the car.

So max power at 100 air watts it lasts for 6 minutes and 17 minutes at 28 air watts. Neither of which is powerful enough or long enough to do the car. Ok for bits I guess and perhaps the stairs but even at 100 air watts is highly powerful enough. Personally I don't know why these attract so much heat. I have the g-tech one. It's money wasted. We have an ultra light weight Vax mains s a second hoover with 200 air watts which takes up little space under the stairs. Whilst cordless has many advantages with Hoovers they still suck, or rather they don't as well.

Buying this was so confusing because there are 5 versions of Dyson V6: Absolute (pink), Clean (red), Fluffy (blue), Animal (purple) and Standard (White). I bought the V6 Absolute but I want to share my experience here to help you decide the right version for you.
The difference among the Dyson v6 versions:
Standard - has a 20w motorhead attachment, this is the weakest of the series and a crevice tool
Animal - same motorhead attachment as the standard. In addition it has a mini motorhead for pets
Fluffy - has all the above and one additional soft brush attachment specifically designed for bare / hardwood floors
Clean - has all the above but a more powerful 35w direct-drive cleaner head - which replaces the standard 20w motorhead.
Absolute - has the mini pet tool as above, a more powerful 50w direct-drive than the Cleaner, and oddly, a very plain / simple attachment with silicon wipes for hardwood floors instead of soft brush attachment. In addition it has a Hepa filter at the motor exhaust - this also makes it a little heavier. All this will make the battery work a lot harder than the lower end versions.

Another great deal by Chanchi - 'everyone one a coconut'!
I bought a couple of these from the Dyson referb ebay store when ebay had the 20% off everything evening earlier in year.
Approx £89.00 delivered so £180 for two, so this is a great deal.
Ideal for cat litter, small spillages, quick clean of areas where getting the heavy Dyson would be a pain, stairs, and car, caravan? etc
Mine is always on charge. I bought the adapter that goes on wall but not fitted it yet, that reminds me!
Use a lot and worth every penny. Must use Max button to get maximum effect - gets 6 to 7 mins battery which is fine.
Dont buy the cheap knock off amazon filter as a spare - it doesn't quite fit the machine.
Hope this helps someone.

7 Dec 16#168
Our Car and Boat V6 turned up and coupled with the motorised head (which pivots and so very useful) it is quite amazing. Without the motorised head it is not as good. We have some carpet types where the motorised head attachment agitates to loosen the bits which would be otherwise be clinging to the carpet.
So the pivoting, therefore adjusts to the angle the cleaner is held at, motorised head is a great benefit to the V6 cleaner.

If I have got it right our daughter has this and tends to complain about its lack of battery capacity and often needing to be charge due to needing the high power mode too often.

...time for a change, cheers chichi
Heat added OP  Just purchased Dyson v6 on black Friday. Really impressed with it. Worth the money.
I do see triple nectar points on my nectar app for purchases with Currys  Hope thats the same for all and it helps
(Thanks op...:smirk: )
The Car version comes with 6 accessories but is heavier (1.57kg).
Is it worth paying £50 more for the car version?
Can't find info at the moment for the air watts etc for the car version, unless it is the same...?
Dyson sells the handheld tool kit for £56 including the extendable hose, dirt brush, soft brush and nozzle tool.
V6 at £99 + kit = £155 so still more expensive than Argos. I think the car version is better with the additional accessories.
The Argos advert for the car and boat one notes.....
6 minutes when in extra suction mode.
so I reckon that it must have that turbo feature....?
I could do with a new hoover, the old one is just in the corner collecting dust.

But for the car, I always find myself getting the proper Dyson out. Trying to manoeuvre with one of these under car seats is a pain in the backside, and they don't really have enough power for getting mud off the mats, etc, I find.
cheers for the info
Thanks
At least you'll have one room clean.
I'd go with the Dyson as it's much lighter and easier to use and seems to have better suction, it does have a smaller capacity capacity for dirt though and is a bit harder to empty.
I also heard that Dyson total clean's Soft roller cleaner head is not compatible with Dyson V6 Absolute? Is it true?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dyson-V6-Fluffy-Cleaner-Head-Soft-Head-Cleaner-Assembly-BRAND-NEW-/132024758836?hash=item1ebd49f234:g:UZ0AAOSwB09YRSLA
2 years warranty is poor though, the normal vacuums have 5 years so they obviously don't rate their batteries.
Dyson V6 and attachments
When I vacuum the house, a good proper job is at least an hour.
I've also done a bit research, according to this website:
http://dysonvacuumspares.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=129&product_id=783
http://dysonvacuumspares.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=129&product_id=627
V6 Animal, V6 Fluffy, V6 Trigger, V6 (Basic Model), V6+ are using the same body and bin assembly, so I guess the attachments are compatible, which means you can upgrade your V6 Trigger to V6 Animal or Fluffy, BUT they need different wands.
http://dysonvacuumspares.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=120&product_id=800
http://dysonvacuumspares.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=121&product_id=1979
and the body of Total Clean and Absolute are the same, BUT the bin assembly and wand are different, that's why Absolute cant' use Total Clean's soft roller head.
Dyson is trying everything he could to prevent you from upgrading your V6....

Or if you're not bothered about the cord and just want powerful and compact for quick pickups, you can get the Shark Rocket Handvac on its own with a car detail tool for £79.99, again with a 5 Year Guarantee:

No brainer for us, sticking with the Shark.

the rep told me that all accessories were interchangeable- pfft.....!

Anyway....... quick question, grateful if anyone knows as i can't seem to find the answer. Can i buy this and use the attachments from my V6 Total Clean? does it have the power connectors for powered attachments? is it the same head?
That sux..... sorry for the pun
This product comes with a adapter that gets into difficult to reach corners.
All good, highly recommended.
Hope this helps.
So the pivoting, therefore adjusts to the angle the cleaner is held at, motorised head is a great benefit to the V6 cleaner.
Thanks!
