Been looking for a Dyson V6 for a while but with so may different models its a minefield trying to get the best one. This one though in my opinion is the best of the lot. I was considering the top of the range Absolute version but oddly this doesn't come with the Fluffy head (which I've read great things about) just a plain flat hard floors head.
This one (Total Clean) has increased brushbar head power (75% more) over the rest of the series (bar the Absolute which has 150%) and the pet tool and the Fluffy head.
In all the recent sales around black Friday this one was never in stock on the outlet site but is now and at a Bargain £176.89 with 20% off. (Next cheapest is £249 in the curry's sale)
All other models also have 20% off and details of what they include below:
There are 5 versions of Dyson V6: Absolute (pink), Clean (red), Fluffy (blue), Animal (purple) and Standard (White).
The difference among the Dyson v6 versions:
Standard - has a 20w motorhead attachment, this is the weakest of the series and a crevice tool
£143.99
Animal - same motorhead attachment as the standard. In addition it has a mini motorhead for pets
£167.99
Fluffy - has all the above and one additional soft brush attachment specifically designed for bare / hardwood floors
£191.99
Clean - has all the above but a more powerful 35w direct-drive cleaner head - which replaces the standard 20w motorhead.
£176.99
Absolute - has the mini pet tool as above, a more powerful 50w direct-drive than the Cleaner, and oddly, a very plain / simple attachment with silicon wipes for hardwood floors instead of soft brush attachment. In addition it has a Hepa filter at the motor exhaust - this also makes it a little heavier. All this will make the battery work a lot harder than the lower end versions.

I ordered a refurb Dyson last month. It arrived in a brand new Dyson box, with what looked like a brand new vacuum cleaner and with a 2 yr guarantee.

Good spot, Hot, but my wife will not, under any circumstances, have a refurb which this is

A lot of people saying when registering them they are getting the full 2 Year normal warranty if that helps persuade her

I also looked at this when someone posted the normal V6. at nearly £200 just can't justify it as have fairly recently got a dc40. if it drops below £150 I'll snap one up. It does look nifty.

Hopefully that is the case but not sure if its guaranteed. Went for this to try it out. been looking for a while and the TOTAL seems the best all round package with increased power over standard and the fluffy head as opposed to the seemingly simpler hard floor tool offered with the absolute.
Will see how it goes. From what I have ready Dyson's returns policy is pretty good if you find you dont like it.

The DC59 I bought during early 2013 became the V6. Completely trouble free ownership and it totally removes the need for a traditional wired vacuum cleaner. The only slight negative is the need to empty it regularly and keep the filters clean.

Been tracking this model for a while now, trying to pick up for about this price. Ok, it's refurbished, but hopefully I get one that's just got a damaged box :P. If not happy, it's 30 days free returns, so minimal risk. Anyway, gone for it. Thanks OP, heat from me.

OP great post, excellent details.
My SO has been contemplating the VRam but this dyson is if I'm correct a 2 in 1, upright and short handheld. Realistically how long does the battery last? we have a combination of laminate & carpet.

I'm holding out for v8 as well but I don't think a price drop gonna happen anytime soon. Hope this one is good. Tempted but would be gutted if I ordered and wasn't convinced. The v8 looks amazing

Great price. Bought me the V8 animal from argos. Brilliant little machine that I can just grab at any time and use. The place is spotless since I've had it as I can't wait to use it.
Powerfull little thing but personally wouldn't want less power, but hay, I'm a bloke :sunglasses:

Save your money and buy the Bosch Athlet for £130 from John lewis or Currys.
I bought one yesterday, amazon vacuum and battery lasts up to 60 mins.

if you are comparing you need to do it like for like - the 2 in 1 range of bosch, like this dyson is, only have 36 & 44 mins runtime

Ordered mine 10:30 yesterday morning, arrived today at 08:15.
Downside is it's packaged in a black refurb box (as supposed to normal retail packaging), and clearly states it's only eligible for 1 year guarantee (although i haven't contacted Dyson yet to confirm). It appears in very good condition, though possibly not new.
Upside is it's light, manoeuvrable and picks up a very impressive amount of dust from carpets I thought were already clean.
The cheapest I could find brand new Total Cleans yesterday was £250.
So all in all, I think it's difficult to justify the extra 70+ quid for an additional years guarantee.

30 Dec 16#31
Mine arrived today too. Clearly used (except for crevice tool which was the only thing sealed) which is a little disappointing after reading other comments about things looking brand new, but condition is good enough (would get scuffed and dusty during normal use anyway) and it seems to work well.

Mine also arrived today, very happy with it so far. It's obviously not brand new but is clean, seems to work as described and has everything with it that it was supposed to.
Given upstairs a go up here and it's way better than the Electrolux cylinder that I'd used before, turns out my rug is blue and not grey, who knew?
Have also registered the guarantee which has come through as being for two years.
Was looking at this or the Absolute for £250 new before this listing, having not used a Dyson before I wasn't sure how good it would be so this was a good way to try one, but first impressions are positive.

No one wants to mention the 20 minute battery life (16 minutes for carpet). That's why it's cheap for a dyson.
ratboy01
31 Dec 16#34
Mine was already registered and wouldn't let me register it.
Called customer services and was told it's only 1 year!
Also a part was chipped and they are sending replacement.
But to see others have been given 2 years I'm going to return mine.
Customer service were very helpful.
How come some are already registered and others you can register yourself?
Did the people with 2 years still have the box with it saying 1 year on the side?
I think it may be something to do with the main unit and it's serial number as mine look replaced.
Thanks

31 Dec 16#35
Just found out that the end letter of the serial number signifies what grade the machine is.
Mine ends in a B which means it's grade B model which I guess is correct for a refurb.
Just curious to those people out there that were able to register for 2 years what letter do you have at the end of serial number?
Thanks
typoon
31 Dec 161#37
Ours arrived yesterday. Hubby opened it and can't remember if any of the attachments were sealed... but they are immaculate. Our serial number ends in B, and although the paperwork states one year warranty, the email I got when I registered states two. Who knows. Hopefully I'll not have to use it. Machine was immaculate apart from a bit of dust that was easily cleaned off.

I think the guarantee issue is whether you contact CS or not. I notice that most on eBay Dyson deals tend to get 2 year warranty but have no need to call CS. Those who contact them end up with 1 year (like mine, where the first was DOA)

Mine arrived today. The condition of the main unit is very used I would say, many viable scratches and chips. No attachments were sealed and the red stick also had a scratch.
I notice that when the stick is attached to the main motor there is a few millimeters gap, is this normal?
Upon testing the V6, it works very well and picked up loads of dust and dirt.
With regards to the warranty, I tried to register it online but it wouldn't accept it as it had previously been registered. So I only have a 1 year garantee :disappointed:
Edit: Just got the email confirming my guarantee ends in 04/01/2019, so 2 years, bit happier now

Mine arrived, no items were in bags but all looked good as new, works great, registered B serial number (on separate 1 year guarantee form) and it came up as two years online (but no idea if it will be honoured in second year). Absolute is now on outlet for £188 which is also a great deal (but I went for Total Care for a better hard floor head).

That's great gd_meiser re guarantee - as long as the stick clicks you should be fine; if it's too battered you could send back under 30 day return and then get the Absolute for 188 (total cleans out stock at the moment).
