Battery recharges up to 3x faster than conventional lithium-ion batteries
0.35L dust bin with easy emptying at the touch of a button
The Dyson DC34 is a lightweight handheld vacuum cleaner that operates without a cord, removing pet hair easily and efficiently. With a wide debris nozzle/brush tool, the DC34 is perfect for keeping surfaces free of large dirt and dust particles.
The DC34 uses Dyson’s Root Cyclone™ technology, so it doesn’t lose suction as you clean. It runs off a 22.2V lithium-ion battery, that doesn’t fade during use and recharges up to 3 times faster than conventional lithium-ion batteries. The 0.35L dust bin on the DC35 can be emptied at the touch of a button for easy, hygienic dirt removal.
Complete with a crevice tool, the DC34 handheld vacuum cleaner can also be used to clean skirting boards, picture rails and furniture crevices.
The Dyson DC34 cordless vacuum cleaner carries a 2-year guarantee for parts and labour.

Can help with first question.
on a fully charged battery, DC35 operates around 15 minutes, while DC44 operates around 20 minutes,
- at full power, when suction boost is turned on, operating time of DC35 drops - only 6 minutes and DC44 - only 8 minutes. However, such burst of power is great for emergencies and fortunately rarely needed.

You can buy a compatible wand on Amazon that fits but Dyson don't make one. We bought both a couple of weeks ago.

Only use on 'Max' green light shows.
Approx 6 to 7 mins, brilliant device.
Not sure on your query about attachments those eBay ones look naff IMHO
If they are compatable with the motorised attachement then may worth getting one of those if you have pets - but I'm not familiar if motorised work with D34.

Seems decent price for a tool kit - albeit generic...anyone used?
These are excellent, and £89 is a good price. My only reservation would be the extra tools really are necessary to get the best from it (i.e. so you can chuck away your existing hoover). We've had the 'animal' version, a year or two now - nothing but praise for it. I think many of the different versions are the same or similar basic hand held thing with different combinations of tools for the different models. I bet that buying the genuine tools to add to this would work out more expensive than a model with tools when on offer. Our animal (new but sold as refurbished) cost £160 iirc with all the tools we need.

The DC34 is first generation whilst the V6 is third generation and listed with more suction and a longer battery life.
Depends on what you want with regards to tools etc but personally I'd stick with the V6.

Sounds silly but how do you charge this? Does a charging point have to be installed on a wall?

It is just a normal cable charger, the wall mount/dock is not included with this model but can be bought separately for under £15 (for a genuine one).
this is not the same type that you have, its hand held with 6mins battery on MAX (best) power.

It was a deal that was listed on hukd - think it was a one day only offer. Maybe wait until after Xmas/until January unless you're desperate as may have similar deals then?

I only ever use the one attachment on mine, not sure you need them all. I only use long nozzle for crumbs, cat litter and to do my stairs. Had mine for bout 3 years now and love it. Kids even clean up after themselves!

I'm looking for a good cordless vacuum at the moment. Is Dyson the only way to go or are there any other brand to look at?

Tbh I used this many times and found it to be aweful ... I personally wouldn't bother but I guess it's worth trying and worse case sending it back ... Tesco returns are easy and effortless.

Superseded in mid-2012 by the DC40 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dyson-Lightweight-Upright-Vacuum-Cleaner/dp/B006OWJOPA/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1481994484&sr=1-1&keywords=dc+40 and DC41 Animal
Both great devices for different purposes.
Tried a v6 at a friends and honestly this feels and sounds the same. Bargain and very light!
