WAS 119.00 (Apparently) (Not worth that price)

Aside from the 1gb of ram, it looks to be a decent tablet PC, specially for those who just browse facebook, with windows 10 and intel inside and a large 10.1" screen, this is a great gift for kids & adults alike, purchased one for my mother and one for my self as they come in handy from time to time.

Intel 1.33GHz quad core processor
1GB RAM + 32GB Storage
10.1" IPS Display
WiFi + Bluetooth

Mine arrived yesterday. While not the quickest machine it doesn't matter for me as I have this setup streaming from xbox one. It's doing this superbly. I have a speaker sitting underneath that acts as a stand. Just plug the controller in use the xbox app and you're away. I think for 45 quid this is amazing.

For those not in the know, the Connect 10 (as does the Linx 10 and others) has a Pogo pin connector, with which you can attach a keyboard ( google.co.uk/sea…ard ). For me they aren't too expensive, quite cute for a little bit of typing, probably not for carrying around too much though.

Deal is now OOS (out of stock) at eBuyer.

Has anybody found a case that has all the correct cutouts etc as I need one but the only viable one I've seen is the origami but I dont really want one for a keyboard just for protection.
Thanks.

I'm not really a budget tablet expert, we just have a few in our household (Nexus, Galaxy, Ipad, Chinese versions). But keep in mind the Connect 10 is not as small as the Fire 7 or even Connect 8. It's also reasonably heavy at around 600g. So not the best choice if you are on a train and standing up or squeezed in (as folks mostly are in my neck of the woods). Also if 'reading' is their main purpose for using a tablet then the Connect 10 is the worst contender re ppi (pixels per inch). What the Connect 10 is good at, IMHO, is a 'stay-at-home' tablet that 'quickly' allows you to do something Windows oriented without the hassle of firing up a laptop or the discomfort of the laptop form. By that I mean I am most comfortable using a laptop at a desk, not relaxing on a sofa.... where I tablet form wins out in my opinion.

I have a tablet averse friend who i want to convert with a Christmas gift.

Initially I bought the £29.99 Amazon Fire 7 black friday tablet as he has Amazon Prime and it would just be a Grand tour box with Google Play side loaded for games. Then I came across the Connect 8 so I bought that too as it was better hardware and Win 10 is more flexible. Then I saw this device which seems to trump the lot and it feels like a 'full' tablet so I bought this too.

So now I have three tablets and the plan is to keep one and return the other two.

As you're seemingly quite experienced with budget tablets do you think the Connect 10 is a good bet compared to the other two? He has a budget android smartphone and a stay-at-home Win 10 laptop. He has a 90 minute train ride to work each day so I thought this could make a nice companion device as he normally reads a book and doesnt want to drain his phone battery using that instead.

Well this turned up and I was pleasantly surprised. About a year back I purchased a cheap Chinese 7" tablet in an Amazon flash sale. Yes it worked, but it felt cheap and the screen was horrible to look at. So when I thought of paying £45 for this, it was a bit of a gamble, But I'm glad I did. Keeping in mind this is £45 it's an absolute steal. The build quality is very good and doesn't feel (too) cheap. Even the box it comes in solid and well made.

Yes, it isn't the fastest machine, but it's usable if you keep your open programs to a minimum. Keep in mind you are getting 1080 HDMI output, x2 USB ports (one full size and USB 3) and a SDHC card port so you can expand the memory using bigger (eg 128Gb) SD cards.

The screen is not bad either. I own an iPad Air and yes you can see the difference up close, but it's not a glaring difference. Also considering how most of us are used to seeing Win 10 on a standard monitor set up, the screen actually looks very good. It's a million miles away from the Amazon 7" tablet I bought.

Overall I'm very happy with this tablet, but just don't expect proper laptop performance from it. It's about 75% of the way there and at less than the price of filling up your car, that's pretty amazing.

Don't give your money to companies like them. Spend it with wisely elsewhere.
Even if it's illegal, you would waste too much time chasing it up.

I was a little bit surprised that although their website states you can return any un-opened unwanted gifts, ebuyer will charge you £10 per item to return it via their courier of choice - probably Yodel.

Is this even legal?

Memory requirements can exclude some games. 2GB is the min specification for Rocket League, 80 Days, Skyrim and Screencheat, aside from any performance limitations you encounter you may have difficulties running in 1GB.

Don't you have a few fake dates of birth? Make it vague about whether you are soon to be 21 or just past 21. To keep track you'll need a password manager (lastpass, keepass etc.).
sam_of_london
20 Dec 16 #37
Also ebuyer, won't let me buy anything on their website, unless I input my date of birth. That is clearly collecting private information for no purpose. If ebuyer goes bust, or hacked all my private details become public.

Now there are Chinese windows tablets with 4gb ram. Even linx 12v64 £200 at Sainsburys has 4gb ram.

Yes I agree, make sure you are switching it on properly. Hold down the power button until a red light, about 1 cm to the right of the front facing camera above the screen comes on.

I wouldn't worry too much though - even if you were the first to post and your deal gets 'hot' you don't actually achieve anything (really). There's a bit of satisfaction knowing you helped others but I think we've all had posts/deals removed and it's just the way it is, I've never tried to read too much into it.

This is exactly the same as what I posted a fortnight ago. Hope this gets removed as last time I posted something that was already posted a month earlier even though my new post reflected a lower price change it was removed with a kinda snotty tone message about duplicate post. I've seen so many duplicated on here recently. Is there kinda an elite group here that can do what they want and the rest of us just have to put up and shut up?

Seriously I'm beginning to hate this site and no I don't care if I'm banned for this post.

The Linx 10 is what you want realistically then. I am intrigued as to what other people are doing that is actually impossible to do on a tablet with 1GB of RAM, other than it being slower and having to disk swap a bit more, I've never really hit a wall with this as a light use device. To paraphrase Apple, if you're taking offence at 1GB on a sub-£45 tablet, you're using it wrong.

Never had a problem with ebuyer, even when i brought an ex-display laptop, it didnt feel as new as it should have so sent it back and got refunded just 6 days after i sent it, no disputes, and all the other stuff ive had off them was cheaper than else where with no problems.

Compared to the Connect 8 are the specs identical? I have the 8 but the sheen on the screen is a little off putting. I was hoping the 10 would have a 'clean' display.

Might make a good Christmas present for someone you secretly hate.

It would be excruciatingly slow with 1gb of ram. This will end up getting thrown out of the nearest window for sure.

Shame really as if it had 2gb (and even was a slightly higher price) it would be mega hot for me.

Horrible, laggy tablet, sick of the " this program needs a min 2gb to run" messages, most likely good for very minor use, even web browsing was a ngjtmare with feature heavy homepages taking an age to load up, thankfully it was cheap from ebuyer , and i kinda expected it to be shite anyway lol, going to be used as a doorstop pretty soon me thinks...

Finally, got it and kids will have it, to free up surface for me; honestly, not a bad tablet at all for £45, given that I paid 14 times for a surface and 9/10 times for galaxy. Office (mobile version) is already installed, but it starts downloading updates, 4 hours battery, impressive screen resolution, magnetic base similar to surface, slightly clumsy build of back (cheapo material); two camera ( 2mp), mini hdmi, couple of USB options; screen protector already on etc. Down side is the rubbery plastic on back and 1 GB RAM.

Except that ebuyer use Yodel for deliveries, they have a delivery contract through them. Therefore as a courier they charge whatever they want for whatever limitations they decide to use and Ebuyer agree to those terms. They don't use royal mail and additionally they are a business so even if they did the costs and service guarantee a consumer expects when sending items are not the same as a large business anyway.

I can understand their concern, especially running windows 10.

the thing is though, its a tablet designed for light use, if you're using something like the heavily, its best to spend the extra and buy a high spec one, but for facebook, deal surfing, and general interwebing this is worth every penny.
SonoftheSun
14 Dec 16 #8
I dunno why people moan about 1GB RAM, I know the best tablets have 2GB + RAM but be let's be real here, at £44 I doubt even gearbest or banggood and the likes can beat this price disregarding potential warranty and custom issues.
