I wasn't sure where to put this but I have noticed that as well as my music on the Amazon Music app Amazon have released loads and loads of albums free to play (and download) in the app for Prime members.
Just been downloading the cheesy music for the kids and figured it is ideal for listening to with ur mates in the office!
I have also got loads of my albums I have in the attic now without faffing around.
I make good use of my prime anyway but this has blown it out of the water.
Hope this helps out some of you who like me cannot be bothered getting all their CD albums down from years ago and end up buying their fav's as singles again digitally!

I have had prime for years and didn't realise the amount of content available. Not for everyone but it makes it well worth keeping my prime for sure now.

This isn't anything new, and surely anyone with Amazon Prime knows about it already?

one of the least advertised perks of prime, been using it for well over a year now. Not as many songs as the paid service or spotify etc but a decent enough effective freebie as so many dont know about it

nope not allowed in our office as more than 10 employees a licence is needed.

If you play it out as a company to a company wide audience yes I would question the license, but just as Bob in the room with his mates not a problem. I am a home business and a solo worker at that so i have no colleagues aside spiders but anyhow...

I've never heard of the 10 person rule. With PRS:
"There is no statutory minimum of people required to constitute an audience. However, in some cases, PRS for Music does not charge a licence fee to workplaces with a single (lone) worker."
I'm sure ppl is the same or similar.

I bought an Amazon Echo and I now get Amazon Music unlimited for £3.99 per month after a free month. I had been a Spotify subscriber for years and was paying £9.99 and absolutely loved it, but Amazon music is just as good if not better. I love the lyrics option and the UX is excellent.

How do you get this price, I have a Dot coming from Santa, and in advance downloaded the Alexa app, and was considering Spotify Premium as a student at £4.99, but this would be better.
My Alexa points me to Prime Music Extra (or whatever their 40 million song service is) but for £9.99, probably because I have a Firestick. Will it know to offer me the £3.99 once I pair the Echo Dot?

Been using this since I took out prime over a year ago - only problem is I have almost filled up my 64gb SD card on my phone with all the offline music lol. It's a great service, I like the playlists as well as the albums. Definitely worth a look for Prime members

Not somewhere you can access them! They're DRM'd unfortunately. Deezer is the only service afaik that doesn't hide it completely.

Bob with his mates at work is a problem - according to the PPL you need a licence but not only do you need a licence from them you also need a licence from the PRS.....

If it went to court anything outside the home would be classed as needing one technically I agree. I'm sure people can use their own judgement :-)

I know with Spotify business, run with the PRS, you don't need PPL as well, as the music is under their control. Both organisations have different music under their control.

You dont need a license, its a private gathering / no ones making a profit.

Ok erm, can of worms time. Sorry wasn't meant to open a can of worms lol. I was posting to help everyone discover it not for a debate on PPL and PRS lol. Lets just use judgement!!

When I ran a small design and manufacturing business a few years back we had less than ten staff and were told we had to pay both companies to have background music in our office and factory. As the unit was quite large the cost was high and we could not justify it. The result was a ridiculous situation where a business has to stop people playing music that the individual is licensed to listen to.
I can understand if it is being played to customers as you can argue that is creating an ambiance that is helping sales. Internal music though is a benefit for the staff, not the business. I understand that what's good for staff is good for businesses, but justifying thousands of pounds a year for background music is nigh on impossible in SME's. These staff have hopefully paid the artists already, whether it be Spotify, license fees or even listening to adverts. As usual, as soon as a business might pay everyone wants twice the money or more. The loophole is that they were allowed to listen to personal music on headphones, so long as other people couldn't hear it, completely nuts.

Sadly my iphone has so little storage as when I bought it I chose to make sure the ipad had loads of space for downloaded amazon videos and iplayer etc little did I dream music would become free.
Refused to pay for deezer etc but now this is free I am kicking myself (really would if was physically possible)
I hook my phone up and remove photo's etc regurly so saw no need for the expensive extra space.
Yes go on whack the apple fangirl... ;-P

Probably will work if you try it (it's the leap from 32gb to 64gb that is more likely to be problematic on older phones, as you can't format anything bigger than 32gb as FAT32. Might be best to borrow someone else's first though

You can only get this price by asking your Echo using the voice control ("Alexa, try Amazon Music Unlimited"). This enables the subscription for that specific echo dot. You cannot access music unlimited subscription from any other devices (including other dots). It is restricted to the dot you subscribe from.

Where are the albums available to download for free?
I'm a new prime subscriber and am unsure where to look?
I stream albums in the music player on my phone but would be keen to know more...
Thanks in advance

AFAIK any prime music can be downloaded to listen offline by clicking on the download button in the app you're already using. All this downloaded music will only work while a prime member though, ie its available offline, but not downloaded in the 'keep for yourself forever sense'.

15 Dec 16#35
In my iphone app the download icon is just below the album cover picture when you go to the album.

Just realised when you said 'the music player' you possibly meant something other than the amazon music app, in which case downloading that is the first step ...
