Iceland is seriously expensive, especially recently with the drop in the pound and the krona getting stronger. Prepare yourself - I was there recently and everyone told me how expensive it was, but no one prepared me for how expensive it really was.

Depends if you drink I found, actually exploring the island, hiring a car and eating wasn't too bad I thought. Booze is what racked up the dosh.
Anyone going and wanting to hire a car check out sad cars. The cars are a bit older and have minor damage and they are less concerned about stone chips of which the roads can be pretty bad for chippings.
Fantastic country though, best to get out of Reykjavik and explore the Peninsulas.

We're off to Iceland on Sunday. You're way better off finding somewhere to stay using airBnB than using the hotels.

I was there a few weeks ago, eye wateringly expensive but a fantastic place. Expect to pay £100 for a dinner for two plus drink on top. We went to the supermarket and bought snacks for a trip, that was £35 when back home it would be less than £10.
